However, I look at it closely and find some things to be happy with. Maybe it's not so bad after all? The Royals lose a high-scoring game, but at least it's a little more even this time. There's a lot to not love about this game, but I do my best to highlight the good parts, or even the not-so-bad things, such as our invincible defense that's already saved a ton of runs, and Andrew Benintendi's lava hot start. Unfortunately, Beni's series is less of a talking point than the supernova start of Steven Kwan, who is far and away the best player in MLB after four games, and all I can say is good luck to whoever has to deal with him next because he made my weekend very not fun. Episode 1 of hopefully just 1 in the Fire Cal Eldred Series. The Royals repeat their traumatic struggles through 2021 by letting every opposing batter under the midwestern sun hit and score, leading to what is an early contender for worst game of the season. The Royals' second game of the year had an extra inning--and it could have had more if not for Bobby Witt Jr. saving the day AGAIN, this time with his glove. The Royals' defense was nigh invincible today, and that went hand-in-hand with the strike-efficient pitching from the staff, most notably from Brad Keller who is in desperate need of a comeback. The 2022 season kicks off with a lot of sentimentality, and a lot of reasons to be excited as the Royals win their first game thanks to the man with the most expectations to be saddled with.
