Royal Blue: Everton's defeat to West Ham, Marco Silva's conundrum with Cenk Tosun and David Moyes' title contenders comments

The Royal Blue podcast team have gathered to sift through the wreckage of Marco Silva's first defeat as Everton manager. The Blues fell to a 3-1 defeat to West Ham at Goodison on Sunday and the panel have tried to make sense of a sobering loss.Host Phil Kirkbride asks Gav Buckland, Tony Scott and Adam Jones to pick their one reason why it went wrong for Silva's side after the Hammers lifted themselves off the foot of the table with their first points of the campaign.Silva was left to reflect on a series of mistakes but the manager also rued a number of missed chances with Cenk Tosun's barren run in front of goal continuing. And so we ask if the time is right to drop Tosun from the starting XI and replace him with Richarlison. To round off the first podcast of the week we discuss David Moyes' comments that the Everton side he left behind in 2013 was a striker away from being Premier League title contenders.Sit back, relax and enjoy. Post-Game: View from the pressbox and the stands after Everton lose to West Ham United

We were hoping to kick off this new show by talking about a second victory of the season for the Blues. Instead, we will be reflecting on their first defeat of the campaign. Two goals from Andriy Yarmolenko – it just had to be – put West Ham United in control at Goodison Park before Gylfi Sigurdsson gave Everton hope. But that hope was extinguished by Marko Arnautovic and while the Hammers and Manuel Pellegrini were left to celebrate a first win of the season, Marco Silva and the Blues were left with plenty to ponder. This podcast kicks off with the thoughts of our full-time Everton FC correspondent Phil Kirkbride. You’ll then hear from season ticket holder Ian Croll, who also hosts our View from the Gwladys Street podcast. There will two Royal Blue shows this week, along with a View from the Gwladys Street, before this podcast returns after next Sunday’s trip to Arsenal. Here’s hoping for a better outcome. Royal Blue: Everton's young players, their first-team chances, the Blues' Academy and Marcel Brands' vision

Which players are best placed to bridge the gap? View from the Gwladys: Why Davies needs time, Tosun’s Everton goal contribution scrutinized

Listen to the View from the Gwladys Street podcast, a dedicated fan podcast produced by Everton fans for Everton fans.Frustration was the key word bandied around Goodison Park following the final whistle of Everton's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield. A game Everton were expected to win turned into a battle they couldn't overcome.Huddersfield started off the stronger of the two teams. After recent defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea, who could blame them for wanting to stop the rot! Parking the bus, time wasting, the referee. All excuses given as reasons why Everton didn't find a winner. In truth, based on performance, a point was nothing more than the Blues deserved. They now have an agonising two week international break wait before they can put Huddersfield to bed. Their next Premier League encounter coming in the form of bottom of the table West Ham United at Goodison Park on September 16.This week's View from the Gwladys Street fan podcast is brought to you by host, Ian Croll and guests Rob Astell, Mark Crotty and professional boxer/huge Blue, Tom Farrell.Top of this week's agenda is of course the Huddersfield result as the lads discuss and debate where they think it all went wrong. Other topics include the form of Tom Davies, the question is asked whether fans are putting too much expectation on Ademola Lookman and Cenk Tosun’s goal contribution is scrutinized. Royal Blue: Everton's remarkable transfer window, Lookman and a debate about the best piece of business the Blues did

That sound you hear is of transfer windows shutting across the continent. The noise is coming from the Royal Blue podcast panel as they look back at the window that was for Everton. On the second deadline day of the summer, the Blues kept hold of Ademola Lookman whilst sending Matty Pennington to Ipswich Town on loan to complete a remarkable summer ins and outs.Across the senior squad and under-23s, Everton sold, loaned or released over 20 players and signed just seven as Marcel Brands delivered on his promise to cut the playing staff down. And so after a hectic summer, Phil Kirkbride asks Gavin Buckland and Tony Scott to name their best bit of business - it could be an in, an out or involve someone staying put.The panel kick-off by debating the immediate future of Lookman after Everton stood firm despite heavy interest from RB Leipzig before the discussions gets onto the window as a whole.Their best bits of business are revealed before attention is turned to the visit of Huddersfield, and it would be remiss of the lads not to mention zonal marking!Sit back, relax and enjoy For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. View from the Gwladys: Lucas Digne oozes class and Silva's Lookman frustration

Everton progressed into the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup after a 3-1 win over Championship side Rotheram. Before kick off there was a sense of anticipation as to what the starting line-up would be. After all, 22 years without silverware, Evertonians were anxious to see how strong Silva would go. Silva made eight changes. Injuries to certain players surely contributing to his decision making. Even Sandro, on the verge of a loan move back to Spain got a run out. Everton fans didn’t see that one coming. Perhaps neither did Sandro. In the end, it didn’t matter. Despite conceding a late goal, yet again from a set-piece, the Blues looked relatively comfortable throughout. The win and progression into the next round, was all that mattered. As always, there is plenty to discuss following a game. Today's podcast is brought to you by guests, Mark Crotty, Robert Astell and Paul Wheelock with your host, Ian Croll. Royal Blue: Everton, the League Cup problem and how Silva will approach this year's competition

A new season brings new hope. But not always where the League Cup is concerned.Everton start out again on a path which has so far led them nowhere with Rotherham the visitors for Wednesday night's Carabao Cup second round tie.And this latest edition of the Royal Blue podcast is dedicated to a trophy missing from the Goodison trophy cabinet.Phil Kirkbride is joined by Dave Prentice and Tony Scott as the panel try to make sense of why the Blues have had to endure - rather than enjoy - the League Cup in all its guises. How will Marco Silva approach the Cup?Will he field a strong team?Is the game a perfect chance to give fringe players some game time? The panel also talk about the trend of the 'top six' taking the League Cup more seriously and how a win tomorrow night is vital to maintain the momentum built up by Silva in his unbeaten start to life as Everton boss.Sit back, relax and enjoy. View from the Gwladys: Richarlison frustration and upsetting Alan Shearer

Three games in and Everton’s season has already turned into an emotional rollercoaster. Five points from three games represents a solid start but that doesn’t tell the whole story.Travelling Evertonians have witnessed Phil Jagielka and Richarlison both receive red cards in the first half of the Blues' first two away games. A mixture of fast flowing attacking football combined with a hard work ethic has been overshadowed by those two incidents. Frustration isn't the word.A feisty podcast to say the least, the lads discuss and debate whether Richarlison and Adam Smith should have both received red cards on Saturday afternoon. This debate took a strange turn when former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer waded in with his opinion after our host, Ian Croll disagreed with his comments he made on Match of the Day. Listen out for some Twitter beef. We also ask the question whether the standard of refereeing in the Premier League is good enough? Not forgetting analysis of the Bournemouth performance, why Ademola Lookman must now stay and to finish off we preview the Carabao Cup tie against Rotheram United. View from the Gwladys: Pickford 'red card' challenge, Southampton performance analysed

Marco Silva’s first competitive game at Goodison Park ended in victory as goals from Theo Walcott and Richarlison were enough to earn the Toffees all three points. Heading into Goodison you could feel a real buzz around the place. A sense of enthusiasm and realistic expectation that has been lacking for a number of years.Silva’s men delivered and despite a goal from former Liverpool striker (wouldn’t you know it) Danny Ings, Everton held on for the win playing some fabulous football along the way. The game wasn’t without controversy however as opposition manager Mark Hughes bemoaned the decision not send off Jordan Pickford for his challenge on Danny Ings.Whether Hughes was right or not is up for debate. A point very much up for discussion in the latest View from the Gwladys Street podcast. That, along with discussion and analysis of Everton’s performance, plus a preview of a tough south coast encounter against Bournemouth is all on the agenda.Other segments include discussion and debate on the futures of Ademola Lookman and Oumar Niasse, This week's show is brought to you by host Ian Croll, and guests Rob Astell, Paul Wheelock and Lee Molton.
