Sorry, Mom. I Made Friends On The Internet with the Business Besties
Remember when your parents tell you not to talk to strangers? The online space has changed a lot about how people meet. In today's episode of Rocky Mountain Marketing, we're featuring episode 1 of Business Besties where Kendra and I talked about how entrepreneurs can build relationships online. We've only met face-to-face twice last year but it's like meeting a long-time friend. It's like having an accountability partner. It's so interesting to note, as Kendra said, "We may all have our 20-plus-year friends, but there's this only one person whom we can call and talk about anything about our business."Building relationships online doesn't always have to be about making a sale. Creating meaningful relationships with fellow entrepreneurs can benefit both parties in more ways than you can expect. We've met in Clubhouse and continued the conversation over on Instagram. Instagram DM is a great tool to establish that relationship further. It's so important that you choose that one platform you would like to grow your community and focus in there.Listen in as we talk more about our friendships over the internet and how can this benefit both your personal and business growth.Like the show? It's A Wrap! Rocky Mountain Marketing's Best of the Best 2021 with Katie Brinkley
We're down to the last episode of Rocky Mountain Marketing for 2021 and all I can say is WOW!It was a crazy year but we managed to stay. YASSSS!!!We're so grateful to all our listeners, our guests, and to everyone who week after week joins us in a 30-minute of golden conversation about all things entrepreneurship and marketing. One of the highlights of 2021 was the rise of social audio. I joined Clubhouse in January and it changed the course of my business in ways that I didn't expect. I have spoken on two news channels regarding this new social audio platform and have been taking the stage daily to share social media tips, Clubhouse tips, podcast tips, and more. I’ve also closed thousands of dollars in sales, spoken at summits, and appeared on more podcasts than ever before. It was definitely a game-changer!Aside from social audio, podcasts become more popular than ever. I have guested on numerous podcasts and every single episode was full of amazing tips and lessons from other entrepreneurs' experiences. There are a lot of other business owners who are two, three, or ten steps ahead of me and it's so thrilling to get to know them, hear their insights, and learn from their stories. This year was also big in short-form videos such as Instagram Reels. There's no doubt people are drawn to catchy, fun, but informational video clips, thus Instagram announced in June that Instagram is no longer just a photo-sharing app. Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, said that they are now leaning into entertainment and videos like that of the competitors such as TikTok and Youtube. All these highlights and more were featured in this year's episodes of Rocky Mountain Marketing. Peer Advisory Board: Learning From Other Entrepreneurs with Mary Gaul
In this week's episode, Mary Gaul discussed how important it is to participate in a mastermind, which in her own words she calls Peer Advisory Board. Having a group of entrepreneurs who are willing to listen and contribute in whatever you're in right now in your business and a certified facilitator who has the right tools to bring out the best from every member and every situation. She stressed the importance of acknowledging small wins and how great it is to celebrate with people who understands your journey. According to her, a safeplace where you can contribute your stories, tips, and thoughts is very important.Mary is a strong believer of the effectiveness of having an accountability partner. She said that there are studies that shows a majority of entrepreneurs do what they do because of an accountability partner. This also helps in creating habits and microhabits. With microhabits, she goes more specific in doing your task. If you're doing marketing for an hour, you should say I will comment on 10 accounts in an hour. You go more specific and make it a habit. As the owner of Success Magnified, she also talked about her "tight-loose-tight" strategy in handling a newly hired virtual assistant. Most of the time business owners let go of their new VAs to early without really trying. By using the right strategy and tools such as Loom videos, you can achieve more things than you can expect with your VA.Listen in and gift yourself this jam packed episode with only the industry expert, THE Mary Gaul. Maximizing Facebook Groups To Grow Your Community with Jennie Wright
Podcast is definitely sweeter the second time around. In this week's episode, we have Jennie Wright. Jennie is our go-to for list building and lead generation. She is also an expert in launching summits and challenges. And for every summit, she uses a Facebook group to gather participants' email addresses, as well as engage and build a community with them. It is an amazing platform to collaborate, host masterminds, and support other members. However, Jennie reminded that in order to gather email addresses there has to be something of value that you will provide in exchange. When asked if it is better to host your own Facebook group, or just join an existing one, her straightforward answer was it depends. If you have the capacity to commit to growing the group, that is providing valuable content every day or engaging with them on a regular basis, then you might just be a perfect community manager. Otherwise, it might be beneficial to just join already existing groups of the same interest. If you're still on the fence about launching your own summit, make sure to tune in and get lots of golden nuggets from this week's conversation.Like the show? Why You Don't Have To Write Your Business Plan with Lida Citroën
"Part of being entrepreneur is that sense of unknowing." - Lida CitroënIn this week's episode, we have Lida Citroën. She was in corporate America for 20 years moving from one industry to the next. It's not that she can't do one job perfectly, it's more of accomplishing so much in that one position and then challenging herself to be as successful in another one, in a totally different industry. She established Lida360 last 2008 in the worst economy. She thought of helping businesses to do strategic branding and global positioning. Lida turned these trying times to guide other businesses on how to position themselves to be competitive in a very complicated market. Lida connected with other business owners and had informational interviews with them. Surprisingly, the advice that she got consistently from other successful business owners, was to NOT have a business plan yet. She was told that creating a business plan at the onset will cause you to miss the organic part of the business. She mentioned that as she started her business thinking that she will help businesses in doing marketing, as she was doing for years. And then personal branding found her and she fell in love with it. A personal brand is a narrative or a value proposition that defines yourself. She believes every business, in every industry, should have this. It is creating a story where you tell who you are authentically and with consistency. And this is where you connect with your people, human to human. Do You Have Any Social Media Expectations with Dan Peterson

Email Marketing Made Easy with Katie Guenther
In today's episode, we have Katie Guenther. Katie is the founder of Bela Blue Solutions. She believes that email marketing doesn't have to be complicated. It can be really simple. Her advise is to start with choosing the right email marketing platform to use. She recommended three platforms which she thinks are the simplest of all the other platforms available. These are Mailerlite, Awebber and Flodesk. Choose what's the best that suits you and your business.Once you have chosen a platform, the next thing is to establish an email list. She said that the best way to do it is to just keep it simple, collect emails, and grow your list. You will need a lead magnet in exchange of your audience's email. This lead magnet should be attractive enough that it answers your audience's pain point. It's also a little sneak peek of the value you can provide to them. It should be something that would leave them wanting more. Katie Guenther also reminds us that our email list is the only thing that we can call our own. Instagram owns our followers, Facebook owns our friends' list, and LinkedIn owns all our connections. When these social media platforms decided to stop or block our account, there's no way we can retrieve our contacts or connections there. Email marketing is about building deep relationships with your audience in a more personal way. It can do wonders to your business if done with consistency and the right strategy.Like the show? What You Should Know About Your Mental Health and Your Business with Donovan Dreyer
Mental health is not so common a topic inside the workplace. However, recent events hit all of us too hard that the call for a more mindful work environment is more than necessary. In this week's episode, we are joined by Donovan Dreyer. Donovan is a coach and speaker in Get Ready Coaching. He was initially aspiring to be a pilot but realized that it isn't what he is passionate about. The tragedy of the Columbine shooting showed him his purpose. He wanted to deep dive and understand why teens think the way they do. Studies show that a lot of teens are suicidal and that many parents need professional help in dealing with them. The ages 17 to 18 years old is a very crucial stage in their lives. Teens at this stage need help in figuring out their dreams, what they really want to be. Therefore, a strong support system is needed to help them get clarity on what they really want. Failing to provide such a support system can cause a midlife crisis wherein adults find it hard to pivot and make changes. They end up in the wrong spot, making them stuck in a situation that they do not want.Donovan was able to formulate the Spotlight analogy when he was triggered by a number of teen suicides that happen in a school that he previously worked with. He believes that when there is a universal language for mental health, we can easily understand what the children's condition is and how to deal with them. He used the colors green, yellow and red to note different mental health statuses and needs.Tune in to today's episode and understand how important it is to understand your spotlight, not only for your business but more importantly for your own mental health.Like the show? She told one of her girlfriends about it and offered her to work as a virtual assistant for her and all the other real estate agents in the office. She continued doing these gigs using Fiverr and there met her client who needed help with her summits. Being new to this, she tried to learn as much as she can. The next thing she knew she was already working her own system of lead generation and doing nearly 250 online summits. But how is she able to do all these? She said she has a strict list of non-negotiables. This made her prioritize her business and what needs to happen. Through her journey, she learned that the email list is the business's greatest asset. Is Pinterest A Social Media Platform or Search Engine with Jana Osofsky
Our guest this week is Jana Osofsky. Jana is a marketing and Pinterest expert for online course creators, coaches, and service providers. She creates strategies to generate a continuous flow of leads for a more profitable business. She started her career as a virtual assistant last 2016. She was creating content for a client and in time find herself at the back end of her client's marketing. She discovered Pinterest and since then fell in love with it. Over the years, she saw how Pinterest evolve and how it became more and more useful for businesses and service providers to attract potential clients. As she describes it, Pinterest is more like Google than Facebook and Instagram. Her winning strategy starts with finding the right keywords. What do your target audience usually search for? For local businesses, you can try adding your geographic location or something that your area is popular for and then use it in your pin description, profile, etc. In this way, the algorithm will see you as relevant when someone search for that keyword. The good thing about Pinterest is that once you find the right keywords, the leads will just follow through. When people search here that means they are already interested in that particular service or product. The goal is not to attract but more of be on top of the searches. Another excellent benefit of Pinterest is that the contents are evergreen. Your pins are good for a month or even longer. It doesn't expire or stop showing in others feed for a limited time.Find out more about Pinterest and the magic it can give your business. Like the show?
