This week Baxie talks to Michael Pickering—one of the former DJs at the infamous Hacienda in Manchester, England. Michael has just released his incredible memoir, “Manchester Must Dance”. In it, Michael takes a firsthand account of how the club became an extension of Factory Records (And how it was financed, in part, by the record sales of two its biggest artists: New Order and Happy Mondays.) Together we talk about how the club succeeded and what led to the Hacienda’s spectacular collapse. We also talk about his participation in the film "24-Hour Party People" about the Hacienda changed music forever. On top of that, we also discuss how he adopted the help of writer Paul Morley, Johnny Marr from The Smiths, Martin Fry from ABC, Calvin Harris, and Noel Gallagher from Oasis! We even talk about Michael’s amazing music career after Hacienda! A great interview with a seminal figure in Manchester’s fascinating music history. Listen on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Spotify, and on the Rock102 app! Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.

Baxie's Musical Podcast: Jon Langford from The Mekons

Baxie talks to one of his favorites--Jon Langford from The Mekons! Music Journalist Lester Bangs once wrote that “The Mekons are the most revolutionary group in the history of Rock & Roll”. And I tend to agree! After releasing more than 25 albums over the last 48 years (including last years “Horror”) The Mekons just get better and better! The Mekons are coming to the Iron Horse in Northampton on June 10th. They’ll also be coming to the Solid Sound Festival at Mass Moca in North Adams from June 26-28th (along with Wilco, Gang of Four, The Breeders, Billy Brag and more). Listen Monday on Apple Podcasts, YouTube, Spotify, and on the Rock102 app. Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chicopee.
