The case was improperly brought against the couple by Army Criminal Investigators (ARMY CID), but there wasn't sufficient evidence proceed with the case (after three years in court) and the case was dismissed by federal judge Terrance Boyle. Although the case was finally dismissed, the story points out significant time, legal expense and emotional heartache caused simply because one person did the RIGHT THING while the other spouse did the WRONG THING bringing the case to light. In every federal contracting action, all parties must always DO THE RIGHT THING and be above board and ethical in their transactions when dealing with the federal government. Jun. 7, 2017) paints a clear and convincing picture that even though the married couple and all parties involved were NOT even remotely correct in their personal actions which caused the case to gain the attention of Army CID.....the case hinged on one main factor: that the husband, Rod M. immediately returned to the federal government (DFAS) all monies (improperly obtained and received) $700,000.00, because the husband (COO of Odyssey Marketing) knew the funds received were improperly obtained, not correct and he could not legally retain the money as there was no supporting federal contract or modification to justify retention of the $700K. This one simple act at the advice of this podcaster kept the husband and wife from being found guilty of wrongdoing under the Federal False Claims Act (FCA) and kept them from going to jail and spending millions in defense. Others involved in the case (Army Personnel) were not so lucky.

In a true to life horror story, Lt. Knauer recounts in 1976 during a special burial at sea detail that the MARDET (Marine Corps Detachment) was ordered to "open fire" with rounds to sink the wooden casket that was slowly sailing away from the ship because the holds to sink it had not been done properly and the weights were not properly installed to have the casket sink on que. That situation is what caused the MARDET CO to call on his men to open fire and sink the casket....all while the wife of the deceased watched in horror. FUNNIEST SITUATION EVER.

In this episode of Robert Knauer describes a real life situation that was life-threatening and occurred at the Washington DC's Bureau of Engraving and Printing office in 2003, a situation where a rogue and undisciplined BEP police officer while not properly exercising due care and diligence nearly cost Robert Knauer his life because the "cop" was horsing around while on duty. THIS IS A TRUE STORY.

In 1983 upon reporting to my cargo ship in Subic Bay, the Phillipines, I loaded the ship out with hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh, frozen foods and vegetables along with consumable supplies and repair parts and when we finished the load out we discovered we had a 2-degree list on the ship. Normally one goes to the engineering officer to remove the list by simply shifting ballast. That did not happen because the skipper, Melvin D. Munsinger, gave explicit order for the chief engineer to NOT shift any ballast. The entire event was a "set up" from the get go.
