Rou and Eight return to the inn, carrying with them a velvet pouch and a scroll with a broken seal. They discuss the nuances of wolf pack behaviors and speculate how Arthas’s interview with Professor Whitmire went. When the group is together again, they discover the pouch contains a one-way communication device.
Rou attempts to contact anyone that might be at the other end, informing the listener of Arcterus’s fate and that they will be the owners of the device. When they read the scroll, they realize the connection it has to the brooch and Rou immediately fears he has committed a social faux pas.
Just as they begin to relax, a familiar figure wanders into the inn.
