When Lizzie was 16, she spent 3 months living off the grid completely reliant on wind energy and rainwater. That opportunity instilled in her a passion for addressing climate change with real-world solutions that has turned into a nearly two-decade career devoted to climate action. Before launching Finch, Lizzie served as Chief Operating Officer at Muuse, fighting to stop single-use waste. Before that, she worked in supply chain and sustainability at Unilever, where she was responsible for integrating the company’s Sustainable Living Plan in North America. Lizzie started Finch to help decode sustainability and make ‘doing better’ a more accessible choice for consumers. She holds a joint M.B.A and M.S. in Environmental Management from Yale University, and a B.A. from Middlebury College. She currently lives in Denver, CO. It makes sense that his latest venture, Verilink, revolves around linking physical goods to NFTs on the blockchain. Nico graduated from U of M with a degree in computer science and began his career as a quant developer. After the pandemic cost him his job right as he graduated, he began working at FlashPlays, a sports gaming startup. During his time at FlashPlays he came up with the idea for Verilink and realized that he couldn’t leave the opportunity on the table. Isaac is a University of Michigan computer engineering alumni with an early career in Embedded Systems and Robotics. His pursuits in decentralized networks sparked his interest in blockchain technology and the impact it could have on the world. This unique background as a full-stack and blockchain developer, and embedded systems engineer led him to the role of CTO and co-founder of Verilink. Dr. Shemmassian is the Founder of Shemmassian Academic Consulting and one of the world's foremost experts on medical school admissions, college admissions, and graduate school admissions. For nearly 20 years, he and his team have helped thousands of students get into medical school and top colleges using his systematic and proprietary approach. While in high school, Dr. Shemmassian took a keen interest in the higher education process. He navigated the admissions process with limited college counseling and became the only Ivy League graduate in his high school’s nearly 60-year history. Specifically, Dr. Shemmassian received his B.S. in Human Development from Cornell University. Despite graduating with a 3.9 GPA as a pre med student, Dr. Shemmassian’s interests in mental health led him to complete his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at UCLA. Throughout his education and beyond, Dr. Shemmassian successfully guided students into top colleges, medical schools, and graduate programs, and has found his professional calling in helping others achieve their educational and career goals. Dr. Shemmassian’s admissions expertise has been featured in various media outlets, including The Washington Post and Business Insider. Moreover, he has been invited to speak at Yale, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and other prestigious institutions about various aspects of the admissions process. Dr. Shemmassian was born in Los Angeles to Armenian parents who immigrated to the United States from Lebanon. He now resides in San Diego with his wonderful wife, mischievous toddler son, and 9-pound dog. Jeff has over 28 years of experience in the financial and business industries with a focus on finance and business development. He has led various organizations in their expansion of locations and increased their assets. Previously, he founded Pioneer Bank in Austin. Under his leadership as the CEO and president, he managed to grow the banks’ assets to $1.2 billion and expanded to 22 locations across Texas. During this time, Pioneer Bank was ranked as one of the largest local banks headquartered in Austin by the Austin Business Journal. In 2018, Jeff founded Keystone Bank with a successful capital raise of $20 million. He founded Keystone Bank with a maverick and entrepreneurial approach to local banking that ultimately allows for easily accessible financial resources to its community members. With its easy access to financial guidance, Jeff prides himself on being an active listener and problem solver to best tailor the bank’s services to every client. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Central Missouri. He resides in Austin where he serves on multiple nonprofit organizations such as: the Austin Habitat for Humanity Finance Committee, the Board of Trails Property Owners’ Association and on the Advisory Board for Qualtik. In this episode of the Road to Growth podcast, we are pleased to introduce you to Corey Robinson. Once you meet Corey , it’s easy to see why he’s a real estate agent par excellence. He may be a top producer, but it’s Corey’s compassion, authenticity, and down-to-earth demeanor that surpass any of his record-breaking transactions. Corey’s dedication to his clients has earned him several notable achievements, including Nextdoor’s Neighborhood Favorite Agent, solid five-star Zillow reviews, a Top Agent Network membership, and more than $24 million in transaction volume in 2020 alone. Born and raised in Aspen, Colorado, much of Corey’s childhood centered around school sports, enjoying the outdoors, and helping out in the family restaurant, which formed the backbone of his unstoppable work ethic. After earning a degree in psychology and business from the University of Colorado, Corey managed a real estate trust in San Diego, which led him to found a restaurant and sports bar that still thrives today in the hands of his former business partner. Corey has been a licensed California agent since 2006 and has been serving the Bay Area since 2013, when he moved with his wife, Annie, to her hometown in Marin. He started his North Bay Area real estate career as the director of marketing for Marin’s No. 1 agent, where he continually went above and beyond his role, including helping to facilitate more than $100M in transactions in his first year. Corey struck out on his own in 2014 and quickly grew his client base, winning Rising Star and Top Producer awards at Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty before establishing Journey Real Estate in 2021. Even outside real estate, service runs in Corey’s blood, and he’s committed to helping others whenever he has the opportunity. For several years, he has donated a portion of every commission to Giveback Homes, which organizes housing projects both locally and abroad. (Corey has even hammered a few nails himself for the organization.) He also supports his children’s school, local businesses, and people in need. Sports are still a huge part of Corey’s life, and you’ll often find him hiking and biking throughout Marin, skiing in the mountains, playing in competitive sports leagues, and coaching his daughters’ soccer teams. In this episode of the Road to Growth podcast, we are pleased to introduce you to Lucas Caneda. Lucas played in Aix en Provence at the Pro D2 level from 2015 – 2017, then in Angouleme (SAXV) from 2017-2019. After a short stint in Mazamet, he decided to joint Sarlat Rugby, a club with a long history (founded in 1903) where he plays as Team Captain and winger today. It was in Sarlat where Lucas met Dom Einhorn, the Founder and CEO of the UNIQORN incubator-accelerator and president of the Sarlat Rugby Team. He immediately integrated the incubator's Rugby+ program where he now works as a team leader for both the incubator as well as for one of its startups, FORMATION.GG, an up-and-coming platform dedicated to eSports. A student of engineering, management and economics, self-taught in nutrition and fitness, Lucas has always had a very keen interest in business and entrepreneurship. Born in 1990 and hailing from Argentina, Lucas Martin Caneda grew up as a die-hard rugby starting at the tender age of 5. Lucas played center and #9 (scrum-half) till the age of 19 before he moved up to the senior team where he started to play wing. It all began at Club de Rugby Pueyrredón, Lucas' home club. In 2013, Lucas joins the Buenos Aires 7s and wins the Argentinian championship with his team. In 2014, he suffered what many though would be a career- ending knee injury. Few players before him have returned to the pitch post-surgery. Yet, not only did he return to grandiose form, he was selected in the Buenos Aires XV squad in 2015 and won the Argentinian championship with his team. It was in same year of 2015 that Lucas moved to France, with the intent to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a professional rugby player. This was a significant accomplishment for an athlete who was told - at an early age - that he had no shot at pro rugby due to his height (1m75; 5'7).
