With the rise of the WNBA this season due to new stars like Caitlin Clark, basketball has been getting more and more popular amongst female students. At the University of Nevada, Reno, that rise in popularity can be seen with the UNR Women’s Basketball Club, where female students can play competitive basketball, while not having to be on the official Women’s Basketball Team. The university allows the club to travel, which allowed its members to win nationals last year and gave the club’s members a chance to play against other colleges such as Stanford and Villanova. UNR journalism student Cameron Perkins reports on this successful club during one of their practices.

Which raises money for Feeding America, a nonprofit organization of food banks. The event attracted a large turnout for fraternity brothers and sorority sisters at Whitaker Park. Amid the sounds of cheering and whistles , participants reflected on the significance of the event which combines philanthropy with community building.
