So we’ve got the farm’s co-partner, Dairy Trust Taranaki, GM of Operations Jason Rolfe on the line to discuss it with us…

Hōhepa is New Zealand’s oldest certified biodynamic farm and is also a place where people with a disability can find purpose, meaning and passion. They run a dairy farm and multi-award winning cheesery, a separate market garden, a school, and also produce fine crafts such as candles, outdoor furniture and woven items.

Sarah and Dave Smith wanted to diversify their East Otago farm's income for the three boys' future, so they built the luxury off-grid Fallow Ridge Retreat and planted 270ha of pine on steep, unproductive land that was costing them money. Sarah told REX their story.
