re421: “Dear Santa, I can explain.”

What if, dream with me here, we solidified ONE word for the coming year? NOTE: This is read by Charlie Holiday, the AI voice of Bradley Charbonneau. [ https://youtu.be/In12An7Al8k ] Here’s the transcript: “Dear Santa, I can explain.”? Embroidered on a Christmas stocking ?It’s December 23 as I write this. The energy I feel this morning is exactly what I want to offer to you. We all have the energy, it’s just a matter of uncovering it or finding it amongst the dust or clutter within ourselves. I strive to help you find yours. Thus, this book. Thus, this section of this book. I have energy because I’m ridiculously and unabashedly excited about what I will share with you in this book. In a nutshell, this is a meta example of exactly what I hope you experience: you create one thing and it leads to another. Just as what you’re reading now would not have come into existence had I not started with the other thing. So let’s get that first thing done for you. The One-Word Book? It’s December. It’s almost the new year. Some people like to make New Year’s resolutions or create a theme for the coming year. I like a single word. What if you found that one word for you for the coming year and put it into a book? Sounds simple, right? Just a single word. One word = one chapter = one book. Done and (probably) fun, right? I’ve done it already (The One-Word-Long Book that Will Probably Change Your Life) and I’ll do it again and again. In fact, I’ll do it every single year. But who cares about me? This book (the one in your hands and the one you’re going to write) is about you. Do you have your word for the coming year? And if it’s not still December or January, do you have your word for the year anyway? Are you living it? Did you write it down on a napkin? Do you still have the napkin? Or is it more that you know the word but you haven’t shared it with anyone else? What if, dream with me here, we solidified that word for the coming year? What if we created a book, a single-word book, that was your book for the coming year? Can you feel, can you imagine how that would probably increase the chances of success that this word would become your mantra for the year? In this section of this book, we’re going to lay out the exact steps to get this one-word book started and finished—and why to do it. If you think it’s just one word and you’re done, keep reading. PRO TIP: It’s going to be the Epilogue where the power lives.Bradley Here are the steps to starting and completing your one-word book. Each step will be described in more detail in the coming chapters. Title? Subtitle? Cover? Epigraph? Dedication? Foreword (Optional)? Preface? Chapter Won? Epilogue Acknowledgments ? About the Author Book Description ?Are you ready? Ha, that’s a trick question: we’re never really ready. The question isn’t whether or not you’re ready but whether or not you have Decided to take action and get this thing done. Here we go. re419: Your Book Deserves Better: Here’s How to Make It Exceptional

How to Make Your Book Unstoppable: Editing, Storytelling & Selling More Copies Check out the in-person conference here: https://storyhouseworks.com/conference-2025 [ https://youtu.be/KmNcDeqf62o ] So, you’ve written a book—or at least you’re deep in the trenches of writing one. Maybe you’ve spent months (or years) crafting your manuscript, pouring your heart and soul onto the page. Now, you’re wondering… ? Is my book ready to publish? ? Do I really need an editor? ? Can’t I just proofread it myself or have a friend take a look? If you’ve ever had these thoughts, you’re not alone. Many writers wrestle with whether hiring an editor is worth it, especially in the self-publishing world. In my recent interview with Rebecca, a professional editor and book doctor, we dug deep into the role of editing—why it’s more than just fixing typos and why skipping this step could cost you readers (and sales). Rebecca will be speaking at the StoryHouse Works conference in Amsterdam on March 20th, where she and a panel of editors will help writers understand how to refine their manuscripts and ensure their books align with their goals, audience, and message. Whether you’re publishing fiction or nonfiction, these insights could be the missing piece in your book’s success. The Biggest Editing Myths Writers Believe (And Why They’re Wrong) ? Myth #1: “I Can Just Edit It Myself” Sure, you can edit your own book, but should you? Editing isn’t just about spotting typos—it’s about ensuring clarity, consistency, and reader engagement. An experienced editor sees what you can’t: pacing issues, character inconsistencies, weak transitions, and even parts of the book that might confuse readers. Rebecca shared that even bestselling authors work with professional editors because they know a fresh pair of eyes makes all the difference. ? Myth #2: “I’ll Just Have My Friend Read It” It’s great to have beta readers, but there’s a huge difference between getting casual feedback and working with a professional editor. Friends and family may not be able to provide objective, constructive criticism—or they may not have the expertise to spot deeper structural issues in your writing. Editors, on the other hand, aren’t just there to fix your book—they collaborate with you to make it stronger. They challenge your ideas, help you align your book with your goals, and guide you through the tough decisions that will elevate your manuscript. ? Myth #3: “Editing Is Just for Grammar and Spelling” Editing goes way beyond fixing commas and typos. Rebecca specializes in developmental editing and book doctoring, which means she helps authors with: ?? Big-picture storytelling – Does the structure make sense? Are the ideas clear? ?? Audience alignment – Is this book actually written for the reader you’re targeting? ?? Clarity & Flow – Does each chapter naturally lead to the next? ?? Refining the message – Does your book align with your WHY? Think of an editor like a personal trainer for your book—helping it get in shape before it goes out into the world...

re418: Confidence: The Decision That Changes Everything

What if confidence wasn’t something you waited for… but something you chose? Have you ever felt like you were standing on the edge of something big—something calling you forward—but instead of stepping into it… you hesitated? Maybe you told yourself: I’m not ready yet. I need more experience. I need more time. But what if confidence isn’t something you find? What if it’s something you build—one decision at a time? In today’s episode, we’re going deeper—not just into the idea of confidence, but into the energy of it. Because confidence isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about trusting yourself enough to take the first step… even before you feel ready. We’ll talk about: ? Why confidence isn’t something you earn—it’s something you step into. ? The power of taking imperfect action and why it rewires your brain. ? A simple mindset shift that will break through hesitation instantly. ? What I’ve learned from watching people take one small, playful step… and transform their entire lives. If you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it. You’re not just ready—you were always ready. ? Grab a quiet moment, take a deep breath, and let’s talk about what happens when you choose confidence. ? After you listen, I’d love to hear from you—what’s one action you’re committing to today? [ https://youtu.be/CnaauVAzrpc ] CreativeFlow #PeakPerformance #mindsetmatters Alex: Did you listen to Bradley Charbonneau’s latest episode? He talks about creativity like it’s a rhythm you can tap into rather than something that just happens randomly. Jordan: Yeah! I love how he frames creativity as a skill you develop through habits and rituals, not just a lightning bolt of inspiration. Alex: Exactly. And he says everyone has creativity—it’s just that it moves in cycles. Some days, weeks, or even seasons are naturally more creative than others. Jordan: That part really hit me. He challenges people to figure out when they’re at their creative peak and actually schedule creative work during those times. Alex: Totally! re412: Harnessing Creative Energy

Briefing Document: Harnessing Creative Energy Speaker: Bradley Charbonneau [ https://youtu.be/B3sZWrkVMEc ] Summary: This audio recording focuses on identifying and harnessing one’s peak creative energy times, establishing routines and rituals to foster creativity, and understanding the cyclical nature of creative inspiration. Charbonneau emphasizes that everyone possesses creativity, but it’s essential to be aware of when it’s at its height and learn to capture and utilize it. Key Themes and Ideas: Creativity as a Habit: Charbonneau challenges the notion of creativity as a spontaneous event. He argues for the importance of creating rituals and habits to ignite creativity, referencing (possibly inaccurately) a quote from Stephen King: “Yeah, it’s amazing. You know, when asked when I get creativity or when I am sparked for inspiration, it magically happens every morning at 6:00.” The key takeaway is to actively cultivate creativity rather than waiting for inspiration to strike. Recognizing and Utilizing Peak Creative Times: The core message revolves around identifying one’s most creative periods (daily, weekly, monthly, annually) and actively capitalizing on them. “When is your creative time? And here’s my takeaway for this morning. What action are you going to take?” Sharono asks listeners to consider when they feel most creative and what steps they are taking to leverage that heightened state. Harnessing Creative Energy: Recognizing peak creative times is only the first step. Charbonneau stresses the importance of harnessing that energy: “What are you doing about it? Are you taking some notes? Are you creating something. Are you some way sort of what’s the word I’m looking for? It’s like capturing there we go capturing or collecting that extreme energy, that heightened state of awareness and creativity…” This involves actively capturing or collecting the ideas and energy that flow during those periods. Embrace the Cycles of Creativity: Charbonneau emphasizes the cyclical nature of creativity and energy, drawing on Esther Hicks’s ideas: “Esther Hicks talks about con past you know there must be darkness for there to be light there must be sadness for there to be joy and I tend to agree so I don’t want every minute of every day to be this creative you know fire hose of of creation for me I would go nuts…” This suggests accepting that creative flow isn’t constant and that periods of low creativity are necessary for peak periods to occur. He stresses the importance of not trying to force creativity outside of peak times. Rituals and Schedules as Catalysts: Charbonneau advocates for creating fixed schedules and routines to remove decision fatigue and anxiety about creative output. He mentions his “Thursday Thunder” (weekly video recording) and a monthly newsletter as examples: “That means every single Thursday, I’m recording a video. Every 17th of the month, I’m sending a newsletter. It’s very simple and it removes any of the decision- making or and again, this is going to sound weird, but the stress or anxiety about, oh, gee, when am I going to do my newsletter? When am I going to do my weekly broadcast?” Self-Awareness and Confidence: Charbonneau underscores the importance of self-awareness in understanding one’s own creative patterns and building confidence in one’s ability to be creative. “And for me, frankly, a lot of it comes down to it’s it’s really about confidence.” He shares his own experience of being most creative in the morning and less so in the eve...

re410: How Writing Your “Worst Book Ever” Can Boost Creativity

Have you ever found yourself stuck in the creative process? Whether you’re an author, a speaker, or just someone looking to express yourself, the journey can often feel overwhelming. Today, let’s explore a unique approach that can help you break free from your creative block: writing your “worst book ever.” This concept may sound silly at first, but it holds profound potential for unleashing creativity and building confidence. Table of Contents The Lightning of New Ideas Why Write Your “Worst Book Ever”? Creating Fun and Engaging Conversations How to Get Started with Your “Worst Book Ever” Understanding the Power of Breakthroughs Final Thoughts Frequently Asked Questions The Lightning of New Ideas As we navigate through our creative endeavors, it’s essential to reflect on what has worked for us in the past. What ideas have you had that sparked joy and success? More importantly, what have you stopped doing that once brought you fulfillment? My name is Bradley Charbonneau, and I’m here to share my own creative journey and how I’ve learned to embrace new ideas while letting go of perfectionism. It’s early 2025, and I find myself constantly bombarded with new ideas. This can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the excitement of new concepts is invigorating; on the other, it often leads me to abandon previous projects. The key is to find a balance between nurturing new ideas and revisiting the ones that have worked well in the past. Why Write Your “Worst Book Ever”? One of the most impactful programs I’ve developed is called “How to Write Your Worst Book Ever.” This concept emerged from my experience with writers who often struggle with perfectionism. The fear of not producing a “great” piece can paralyze creativity and lead to procrastination. So, I flipped the script and encouraged writers to focus on what they shouldn’t do instead. Breaking Down the Concept The premise is simple: by embracing the idea of writing something intentionally “bad,” you can liberate yourself from the constraints of perfectionism. This exercise allows you to laugh at yourself and take risks without the fear of judgment. It’s not about publishing this “worst book” but rather about completing a project and experiencing the joy of creation. Who Is This For? This program is perfect for anyone who feels stuck in their writing journey, whether it’s your first book or your fortieth. The goal is to help you finish something, celebrate that achievement, and build the confidence to tackle future projects. By completing a “worst book,” you will feel a sense of accomplishment that can propel you to greater heights in your creative endeavors. Pros of Writing Your Worst Book Ever It’s liberating: You can write without the pressure of perfection. It fosters creativity: You might discover new ideas while trying to be “bad.” It builds confidence: Completing any project boosts your self-esteem. It sparks conversations: Sharing your “worst book” can be a fun icebreaker at events.

re409: 12 Goals, 52 Milestones, 365 Daily Wins—What’s Your Number?

It’s February 17th, 2025. You’ve had six weeks to make some decisions about your year. So, how are things going? If you’re like most people, you might feel a bit behind. But guess what? It’s never too late to make a change! Hey, I’m Bradley Charbonneau, and today, I want to talk about the power of decision-making. Specifically, I want to dive into how making decisions can help create habits that reduce stress and anxiety, ultimately leading to a happier life with more free time. Table of Contents The Importance of Decisions What Can You Commit to? Building Habits Finding Balance How Many Habits Do You Want? Conclusion: Celebrate Your Success FAQs The Importance of Decisions Decisions are the foundation of our habits. I’m not really a New Year’s resolutions guy; I’m more of a calendar guy. That might sound boring, but it works for me! The key is to decide what you can do daily, weekly, or monthly that can challenge you while also being enjoyable. For instance, I write a newsletter every 17th of the month. This is an example of a decision I made a long time ago. I chose this date because it holds personal significance for me—it’s my special number. You might not have a number like that, but find something that resonates with you and make it your own! What Can You Commit to? Let’s think about what you can decide right now that you won’t have to think about again for the rest of the year. This could free up mental energy and reduce anxiety. For instance, I decided to create a YouTube short every day last year. It’s a small commitment, but it adds up over time. Think about it: what’s something tiny that you can incorporate into your daily routine? Maybe it’s as simple as drinking more water or taking a short walk. The goal is to make it a habit, something you do without overthinking it. Building Habits Building habits is like brushing your teeth. You didn’t really decide as a child to brush your teeth; your parents made that decision for you. Now, it’s just part of your routine. What can we build into our lives that becomes just as automatic? If you’re groaning at the idea of more commitments, I get it. But let’s add some excitement! Choose something that challenges you but is also fun. If your goal is to go to the gym every week, maybe instead, choose an activity you genuinely enjoy, like dancing or hiking. Finding Balance Finding balance is crucial. You want something that brings you joy, but also something that’s a bit challenging. Think about it: if you choose something too easy, like eating a donut every week, the joy wears off quickly. Instead, let’s make a decision that’s meaningful and will enrich your life. For instance, I have my “Thursday Thunder” series where I post a video every Thursday. I made this commitment on January 1, 2020, and it has been rewarding. Some of these habits will stick with you beyond the year, while others might serve their purpose and then fade away.

re407: Intuition, Logic, and the Evolving Role of AI in Decision-Making (thanks to Notebook LM)

Bradley and Fiona’s discussion yesterday … as summarized by Notebook LM. Uh, wow. [ https://youtu.be/SnUeSFY2PFg ] ? Show Notes In this episode of Repossible, we delve into the intricate dance between intuition, logic, and the evolving role of AI in decision-making. Join us as we explore a compelling conversation between mathematician Bradley Charbonneau and AI expert Fiona Passantino, who share their contrasting yet enlightening approaches to making choices. Discover how our gut feelings often clash with logical reasoning, and learn about the brain’s mechanisms that drive these instincts. Fiona’s vivid analogy of a rustle in the bushes illustrates the primal instinct to react before our rational mind can process the situation. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, information overload can drown out that inner voice, yet Bradley encourages us to retrain our intuition through practices like meditation. re405: Deciphering Decision-Making: Insights from the Heart, Mind, and AI

It’s possibly, no, wait, yes, really, time to … decide. [ https://youtu.be/s7Tj33xIKJU ] Imagine standing amidst a wet, rainy forest, feeling the chill of the air while contemplating the intricacies of decision-making. That’s precisely what I was doing recently, pondering over how decisions shape our lives. It’s a topic that has occupied much of my thoughts as I work on my book, program, and the Now What?! challenge. The Spectrum of Decisions Decisions vary immensely, from choosing between a burger or a salad to contemplating a move to France. They span personal, professional, and even existential realms, influenced by factors like age, gender, and context. Understanding how people make these choices is vital, and I’m eager to gather stories that illuminate this process. Seeking Stories Stories of past decisions, their impacts, and the lessons learned can help us all make better choices in the future. If you have insights or anecdotes to share, I would love to hear them. Perhaps you’d even like to join me on my podcast for a discussion. Decision-Making and Confidence Recently, I attended an event that explored the intersection of confidence and AI in decision-making. Confidence undeniably affects how we make decisions. The more confident we are, the more decisive we become. The event highlighted how AI can serve as a tool in this process, providing data analysis that aids in making informed decisions. The Role of AI AI can analyze and project data, helping us navigate the “now what?” moments in life. Imagine feeding AI all the necessary data about a decision, and then receiving guidance based on that analysis. It’s a fascinating prospect that aligns with my vision of integrating AI into our decision-making frameworks. The Mind, Heart, and Gut While AI offers analytical prowess, our innate decision-makers—the mind, heart, and gut—play crucial roles too. I envision creating AI agents that embody these aspects, each with distinct qualities and data, to assist in decision-making. It’s an ambitious idea, and I’m eager to explore its feasibility. Building Personal AI Agents These AI agents would uniquely represent the analytical mind, the emotive heart, and the intuitive gut. By combining these elements, we could develop a comprehensive decision-making aid. This project could eventually extend to helping others create personalized AI agents for their decision-making needs. Routine Decisions and Brain Power Decisions, big or small, consume brain power. By reducing trivial daily choices, like what to wear, we can conserve mental energy for more significant decisions. This concept is exemplified by figures like Barack Obama, who reportedly wore the same suit to minimize decision fatigue. Shaking Up Routines To counteract routine monotony, I adopt small changes, like opening doors differently each time. These minor decisions subtly alter my day, fostering a dynamic approach to life. This practice aligns with strategies proposed by Joe Dispenza, urging us to break free from autopilot modes. The Power of...

re395: Thanksgiving 2024 in the USA

I’m toying with more theatrical “radio theater” as I’m planning on doing more of this in 2025. Giving thanks in poem form. To the tune of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Happy Thanksgiving. [.https://youtu.be/rUjIJGYXWxk ] A Thanksgiving Tale, 2024 (In the style of “The Night Before Christmas”)‘Twas the morn of Thanksgiving, and all through my mind,Were the moments and memories this year left behind. From travels afar to lands near and wide,I’m grateful for journeys and joy by my side. From Biarritz breezes to Prague’s cobbled streets,Germany’s charm and Austin’s warm greets.San Francisco’s hills, San Diego’s shore,Phoenix and Vegas—I couldn’t ask for more. But it’s not just the places, the sights, or the scenes,It’s the friends I’ve embraced, the moments between. For old ties rekindled and new bonds begun,I’m thankful for friendships, each and every one.As family grows distant in time or in place,We weave friends as family, a bond to embrace. While parents and elders pass through life’s door,Their lessons and love stay with us evermore. My wife finds her joy in the work she holds dear,And my youngest explores Italy’s wonders this year.My eldest plans boldly, his path to commence,A move to the States—what an exciting suspense! This year brought transitions, a dance with the past,Yet the present’s a gift, and the future’s a vastCanvas of moments, both measured and free,With Kairos and Chronos, guiding time’s sea.The Magician and Mathematician combine,Enchanting the moments with rhythm and line. For math gives us order, and magic the thrill,Together they weave time’s tapestry still.I’m thankful for purpose, for helping others create,To spark their first work and unlock their fate.A single word shared can transform and ignite,Into pages and stories that bring dreams to light.I’m an instigator, a catalyst, a guide,Helping others discover the strength they’ve inside.A trigger for change, a beginner’s best friend,Who nudges them forward to where they can ascend. So perhaps this next year, with its dreams and its tragic,Will center on one word: simply “magic.”Or maybe “magical”—both feel quite right,To capture life’s wonder, its joy, and its light. And so on this day, I give thanks from my core,For love, for creation, for what lies in store. For the past, for the present, for what’s yet to be,Happy Thanksgiving—to you, and to me.?
