The Daytona 500 had mixed responses as the ending was lack luster to say the least and restrictor plate racing leads to another BIG ONE. The Bathurst 12 Hours was very entertaining from a differing pit strategies to changing weather conditions and a late race caution leading to a sprint at the end!Nate recaps his virtual Daytona 500 experience as well!Coming up this week, Formula 1 has it's preseason testing and so does WEC with their Prologue. Supercars open their season with the Bathurst 500! Racing season is back in full swing for 2024 and we're looking forward to it!

This past week we've gotten to see just about everyone showcase their 2024 challengers. With the regulations staying more or less the same with no major changes, a lot of the cars are starting to look the same and take inspirations from cars at the front of the field.With the Clash aside, NASCAR really kicks it's season off at Daytona for the 500 race this weekend. There's also Xfinity, Trucks, and ARCA racing as well. Hopefully mother nature can play nice this weekend although a rain out on Sunday seems almost imminent at the time of our recording this week.Down under this weekend is the Bathurst 12 Hours! The race will start sometime Saturday night for those of us in the US looking to find a stream somewhere on the internet.

Not a lot of racing this past weekend but shock waves have circled the globe with the announcement of Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes at the end of the 2024 and heading to Ferrari for 2025 to drive alongside Charles LeClerc! We discuss this monumental moment and its implications of what lies ahead.Just before the Hamilton/Ferrari announcement, another big news piece came forth as Andretti was denied entry to the F1 grid for the 2026 season. Although the wording hints at a possible entry for them in 2028, the reasons stated as to why they cannot join the grid in 2026 are just absolutely ridiculous in claiming that they could potentially be "noncompetitive" after coming off the 2023 season where 1 driver won 19 of 23 races...needless to say we are not happy with the decision.NASCAR had it's Clash race at the LA Coliseum and Indycar had another couple of testing days with the new hybrid power units at Homestead.

Aside from the somewhat controversial ending from a timing error on IMSA's part the racing was excellent! The battle for the overall lead in GTP was fantastic between the Cadillac and Porsche! Great racing from the other classes as well even our podcast favorite Risi Competizione took the win in GTD Pro.Other racing from that weekend was exciting too with the Michelin Pilot Series but even more so from the Whelan MX-5 Cup Series! If you haven't seen those two races, check out either IMSA Official or The Racer Channel YouTube pages to watch the replays.In the world of F1, Lando and LeClerc have extended their contracts with their teams. Although we haven't even started the 2024 season, speculation for 2025 lineups is in full swing as about three-quarters of the grid have contracts expiring at the end of the 2024 season. There's also a rumor about where a 4th US race might be.

IMSA had it's Homologation Test at Daytona this week where we saw the first outings of the Lamborghini GTP, Ford Mustang GT3, and Corvette GT3. WEC had more driver lineups being confirmed along with some news of refined Safety Car rules and their commitment to no tire warmers allowed in the coming season. Indycar's big announcement is that the new hybrid power unit would not make its debut at St. Petersburg, FL but rather in the streets of Detroit AFTER the Indy 500. An odd time to switch power units in the middle of the season...This past weekend the Gulf 12 Hours took place at Yas Marina Circuit. This race is the season finale in the Intercontinental GT Challenge which is comprised of GT3 cars. If you need something to watch or have on in the background it will surely provide you with some entertainment! You can find it on GTWorld Youtube channel.

Logan Sargeant scored points on home turf as well becoming the first American F1 driver to score points since Michael Andretti.NASCAR had it's second race of the Round of 8 down at Homestead where championship contenders were driving hard and for a couple they drove over the edge and ended their races prematurely.Upcoming this weekend F1 is in Mexico, NASCAR is at Martinsville, Aussie V8 Supercars are at Gold Coast, and Super Formula has it's championship finale at Suzuka.

Drama in the inaugural GTP season with the LMDh prototypes late in the race made a great show for the fans. IMSA's Michelin Pilot Challenge Series also has some championship drama in the GS category as the title was decided by one position worth of points!NASCAR had it's first race of the round of 8 in the playoffs which saw one of the closest finishes in playoff history as Larson locks himself in for the championship round coming up in 3 weekends at Phoenix.This upcoming weekend we have NASCAR at Homestead and Formula 1 at COTA.

F1 continued it's season in Japan at Suzuka where Red Bull...well at least Max Verstappen...returned to their normal form for this season with a dominant performance which was enough to secure the constructors championship for this year. Next race at Qatar we will see if Max can clinch the drivers title.

This was the first year of all of the new hypercars & GTPs on track together and it was a great battle! Through some cautions and strategy, I believe it was 5 manufacturers were able to hold the lead at some point during the race but it was Ferrari that came out on top! Corvette was able to cap off the GTE era at Le Mans with a win and Euro Interpol took LMP2.Upcoming this weekend, Indycar returns to the freshly repaved Road America and F1 is in Canada! Can Lawerence Stroll's Aston Martin team get a victory on home turf?!?

Martin Truex Jr. comes out on top with the win! Formula 1 returned after it's spring break to the streets of Baku where Red Bull continued its dominant form. They travel to Miami next. Indycar had it's first race at a traditional purpose built road course down in Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park where Grosjean and McLaughlin battled it out for the win. Finally, WEC returned to Spa for its last 6 hour race before they return to action in June for the 24 Hours of Le Mans! Teams battled in changing conditions where reliability and cold tires caused a lot of issues for teams.

Wild and hectic finish as usual with these plate races. Up next for them is a trip to Dover: The Monster Mile. After a quieter weekend of racing we preview a weekend full of racing! Formula 1 will be returning after a 3 week break where they will race around the streets of Baku in Azerbaijan for Round 4 of the championship. After a day of Indy 500 testing, Indycar is making it's first trip to a permanent road course for this season down at Barber Motorsports Park. For it's 3rd round of the season, WEC has it's 6 hours of Spa. This round is a significant one as the next time these cars will be racing it will be for the crown jewel of the 24 Hours of Le Mans! Since Spa is somewhat similar to Le Mans, everyone will be looking to do some setup testing in preparation for the biggest race on the calendar. In the past, this 6 hours of Spa race has had some incredible battles. Hopefully we can see Ferrari challenge Toyota for the top step on the podium.

Guess third time's the charm. Other racing series that took place were British GT along with some other support races at Oulton Park and Super Formula in Japan kicked their season off with two (2) rounds at Fuji International Speedway to show off their brand new SF23.Upcoming this weekend is a weekend full of racing on the streets of Long Beach with Indycar and IMSA sportscars headlining the show along with Porsche Cup cars, Stadium Trucks and some historic cars to round out the support races.

With the DRS zones extended along with the addition of a 4th zone, the passes that were being made on track we're amazing going through the high speed chicane! Keeping with some high speed passes, Indycar had a shootout of a race at Texas Motor Speedway! Pato O'Ward was the class of the field but with the help of some cautions Josef Newgarden was able to steal the win with a fiesty battle at the end of the race. Palou, Malukas, and Dixon were right there as well.Larson takes victory in Richmond to become the 6th different winner this year in NASCAR.

Although stages remain, the stage breaks themselves to pack the field up was done away with this year for road courses which allowed some strategies to be played out and made for some interesting racing! That was until we had the debris caution come out with only a few laps to go which resulted in some questionable driving standards from everyone.F1 and Indycar return this upcoming weekend where they'll be racing in Australia and Texas respectively.

One championship that will be wrapping up this weekend will be Touring Kart Championship's Winter Series. There are five (5) drivers in contention for the title this weekend at MONZA World Class Karting at Foxwoods in Connecticut. Alex Vidal, TKC Event Manager, joins us to preview the winter series finale and also discusses some prizes and plans that TKC has in store! Alec also talks about his experience at New England Karting Challenge's Ice Karting event at the Danbury Arena.Derek Moore, a friend of RMP, joins us to discuss Supercars and their first round at Newcastle with the all new Gen3 cars where there was some controversy. Speaking of controversy NASCAR and IMSA have some controversy of their own with drivers admitting to wrecking other competitors and teams cheating for race wins.The big event this weekend, aside from F1 in Jeddah, is Super Sebring! To continue the excitement of the top prototype classes (Hypercar and GTP) both WEC and IMSA will be racing at Sebring International Raceway for the 1000 Miles of Sebring and the 12 Hours of Sebring respectively. As sportscar fans, we are hugely excited for this weekend especially with WEC concluding their pre-season test (aka Prologue) just last week.

Hendrick Motorsports dominates Las Vegas with a 1-2-3. Racing to watch this weekend would be another season opener but this time it's down under! Australian Supercars kicks off it's season at Newcastle, NSW.

The Daytona 500 is upon us! We preview this weekend's festivities for a second giant weekend in Daytona already this year. We also discuss Formula One car launches. At the time of recording this, eight of the ten teams on the grid have unveiled their cars and oh my have Ferrari out done everyone! Their car still looks the sexiest on the grid and they even did their demo run during the unveil! Pre-season testing will be the last weekend in February then followed by the season opener the first weekend in March.
