Christine Anderson, a Member of the European Parliament from Germany, has been on tour in Canada this past week. Anderson went viral during the pandemic for her scorching speeches condemning Justin Trudeau’s heavy-handed lockdowns. Her support for the trucker convoy helped make that peaceful Canadian uprising an international sensation. But this morning Liberal Party mud-slinger Warren Kinsella went to work, denouncing Anderson as a hate-monger, and smearing Conservative MPs photographed meeting with her, including former leadership candidate Leslyn Lewis. Kinsella’s hyperventilated attack was soon picked up by Brian Lilley, boyfriend of Doug Ford’s press secretary and columnist for the Toronto Sun. But other than the Liberal war room and the Doug Ford war room, the story wasn’t going anywhere — calling German politicians “Nazis” doesn’t work, as that country criminalizes Nazism and those who support it. It is literally impossible for Anderson to be a Nazi — she’d be in prison if she were. But for some reason, Poilievre — or, more likely, an inexperienced media handler — panicked. Instead of ignoring the story being ginned up by provocateurs, Poilievre’s staff put out a striking statement, one that could have been dictated by Trudeau himself: “Christine Anderson’s views are vile and have no place in our politics… Frankly, it would be better if Anderson never visited Canada in the first place. She and her racist, hateful views are not welcome here.” What racist, hateful views? Poilievre didn’t say. And a careful read of the accusations made by Kinsella and Lilley shows they just cite other professional “anti-hate” activists, including the Liberal-funded “Canadian Anti-Hate Network”. The whole thing was a set-up — and Poilievre fell for it. Not only did he humiliate his own MPs — including the popular Ms. Lewis — but he did Trudeau an enormous favour, by interrupting the national media’s recent interest in Trudeau’s affiliations with the Communist Party of China and that country’s interference in Canadian elections. Like a hockey player scoring a goal on his own net, Poilievre “proved” that his party was indeed racist by accepting the accusation, and legitimizing what would have otherwise been a fringe story shopped around by a couple of cranks. Worst of all, Poilievre’s willingness to bend to the media mob, and turn on his own MPs (and Anderson’s many grassroots supporters) casts doubt on Poilievre’s commitment to end cancel culture and stand up to the woke mob. Poilievre has been on a winning street battling against CBC journalists, mocking them and defying their will. Today instead of laughing at journalists, he was obeying them and taking directions from them. Not a good look.

Justin Trudeau has once again dodged accountability. As expected, the judge in charge of examining his use of the Emergencies Act against peaceful protesters has ruled in favour of the government, following six weeks of evidence. This law has never been used before, not even during the 9/11 attacks, wildfires, ice storms, hurricanes, or when a terrorist cell was operating in Toronto in the early 2000s. The Emergencies Act was only used against peaceful protesters, who were exercising their right to free speech. Last February, after two years of crushing Covid restrictions, Justin Trudeau sought to bring Canada's cross-border truckers under his thumb by imposing a vaccine mandate. Despite the government's claim that only 10 percent of truckers would be affected, its own data, submitted to the Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC), headed by Justice Paul Rouleau, suggested the number was closer to 50 percent. The truckers and their supporters started a movement of convoys and peaceful protests, which eventually landed in the nation's capital. In every single city and town, the police were vastly outnumbered by the country's working class, who never reacted with violence, even in the face of extreme police violence. The POEC heard six weeks of testimony from law enforcement officials, who stated that they did not need extraordinary powers to contain the protests, which did not pose a national security threat. Even Justice Rouleau acknowledged that Canadian citizens have the right to peaceful protest and that the government's failure necessitated giving extraordinary powers to the police. The Emergencies Act is about to become easier to invoke if the government adopts Rouleau's recommendations, which is concerning. Justin Trudeau has never been held accountable for his bad behaviour, ethics violations, and mistreatment of Canadians who may share a different worldview than him. If you remember the Trump years, whenever there was some hearing about Donald Trump, some accusation about Donald Trump being impeached in process against Donald Trump, Canadian media couldn't get enough of it, even though every single one of those fusses resulted in a big nothing. Do you remember that Mueller investigation for Russian influence? Who came up with nothing? There must have been hundreds of stories. I can't think of a single American left wing activists like Michael Avenatti, who is going to be the next president of the United States. He's in prison now. The Canadian media loved covering every jot and tittle, every trifle and trivial matter that was to embarrass Donald Trump. But there have been hearings in Congress this past week that, as far as I know, have not been covered anywhere in the Canadian mainstream media, although they are of great substantive gravity. The hearings are for the former executives of Twitter. These hearings are happening only because the Republicans have the majority in Congress now so they can set the agenda. And very fortuitously, because Elon Musk bought Twitter, took it private, spent 40 for billion dollars, and released some powerful secrets about what Twitter had done under the previous regime. In fact, not only did Elon Musk releases, he invited independent journalists, including many on the left, to go to Twitter headquarters, sift through hundreds or thousands of internal memos and publish their results on Twitter. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1601020109807448064 There was several tranches of these Twitter files as they been called, showing political interference, especially in the last presidential election, COVID interference, including where a Pfizer executive, Scott Gottlieb, actively interfered to stop critics of Pfizer and scientists with alternative viewpoints, including that natural immunity was powerful. One of the scariest things that was revealed in these Twitter files is the FBI merger with Twitter. It was basically used not only to capture information about people that the FBI wanted to learn about, but to shut down comments and political conversations the FBI wanted to stop. Since when was that the matter for police? But I've been saying this even before Elon Musk bought the company and revealed it. Twitter really is an information operation, a spy network where you are the product. Anyways, what news we have is that these Twitter executives under the former regime have been called to testify in Washington DC and indeed they attended. Sometimes tech leaders simply resist or refuse to attend, but they were there. Now, I have to tell you very candidly, some of these representatives ask good questions, excellent questions even, but some of them, in my view, they didn't. Now, I completely sympathize with them. But in the case of, for example, Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene, to conservative Republican congressmen, their questions of Vijaya Gadde and your wrath were more painful complaints of how they had been censored and abused. There were more howling of the injustice, and they were lawyers doing a cross examination. I'm flummoxed and stunned every time I consider that our third branch of, you know, there's various branches of government, there's the legislature. That's easy to understand. That's your elected lawmakers, your employees at the federal level. Your employees are employees at the provincial level. That's easy to understand. There's the executive. Those are cabinet ministers who can make decisions on everything from going to war to interest rates, things like that. Although they would claim that interest rates are independent. And then the third branch of government is the judiciary. The judges, which serve to be a check on legislators or the executive branch that gets too big for its britches, too big for the Constitution. But alas, here in Canada, our judiciary has yet to weigh in. The Supreme Court of Canada is yet to bother itself with anything regarding the lockdown or that civil liberties bonfire. Isn't that incredible? We do not have the same active checks and balances in democracy that they have in the United States, and I'm jealous. So they had these hearings and these hearings were televised and there was a congressional record. Well, I'm jealous of America for a number of reasons. They don't even try to tack these things. We do, however, know these high-flying hypocrites have spent at least $622,000 on flights to the Egyptian resort town — and that number is expected to rise. An order paper question by another Conservative member of Parliament, Clifford Small, revealed that for any liquefied natural gas project to go ahead in Canada, the company proposing it must calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of the project and also the fuel source it promises to offset. Greta Thunberg, you know the name. She's a young lady, a girl, really. And she is the face of the climate movement. Except the thing is, she's not actually that young anymore. I mean, listen, I wish I was just 20 like she is, but she is 20. That's not a teenager anymore. It's certainly not a girl. Although meeting her in person today reminded me of how physically small she is. And I don't know if it's a medical condition or just a particularly unique look, but she truly looks like someone who is 12 or 13.
