Hackers Chisel 2 Million BNB Coins Worth $560 Million

Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world by trading volume, says it suffered a sizeable hack to its BNB Chain network. Two million BNB tokens were withdrawn (worth approximately $560 million), although Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, better known as CZ, says his team was able to take control of a majority of the funds, holding losses under $100 million. The hacker apparently targeted a vulnerability in a cross-chain bridge. Are NFTs Down for the Count?

You've seen the reports: Mainstream media have declared non-fungible tokens dead and have buried them forever. Yes, prices are way down from the peak. Yes, enthusiasm has waned. But is this the end of the story? Will NFTs fade into oblivion? Or is this just a floor from which NFTs will thrive again? Could it be about dominant players taking greater shares of the cake, i.e. the bigger projects cannibalizing the smaller? So many questions, and who better to answer them than Chris Maddern, the co-founder and CEO of Floor, an app that tracks NFTs. Chris joins Real Vision's Paul Guerra and Elaine Ly LIVE today for a Crypto Daily Briefing NFT bonanza. Chris, Paul, and Elaine talk about the top stories in the NFT space – Japan’s ambitious investment plans, Veefriends’ expansion into physical toys, and Improbable's $100 million funding round – and then take a step back to assess the big picture. At the top of today’s edition of Real Vision Crypto Daily Briefing, Marco Olivera and Ash Bennington talk about why the New York Fed honed in on USDC. Does Crypto Have a Crime Problem?

In its mid-year update, popular blockchain data company Chainalysis reported that $1.9 billion was lost to hacks and theft through the first six months of 2022, up from $1.2 billion through the same point in 2021. But other illicit activity – scams and darknet markets – declined compared to last year. How much fear does “crypto crime” create around the digital asset economy? Is it enough to impede widespread adoption? Also, the Securities and Exchange Commission is coming after the initial coin offering from a blockchain project in 2017; so, why now? And there finally may be a solution to the recurring outages on the Solana network. In today's main segment, Marco and Ash talk about Mark Yusko’s declaration that crypto winter is over and crypto spring is here, the highlight of Ash’s recent conversation with the CEO and CIO of Morgan Creek Capital Management.
