What can you expect to do in 9 years? In some ways, a lot…one that doesn’t spring to mind is become a fountain of knowledge on a subject as diverse as organic dairy farming! Today we welcome Sophie Gregory onto the podcast, Sophie posts her farming life to instagram under the name farmer_in_training justified by her words “I don’t think you ever become an expert in farming!” however her depth of knowledge with a focus on organicity and regeneration backed up by a loving passion is powerful! After welcoming her first wee one into the world when she was 18 Sophie took up a career in accountancy to be able to balance parenthood and income. 5 years later her husband wanted to get into dairy farming much to Sophie’s dismay, 9 years on and 10 months off of starting their second 10 year tenancy they run a notably progressive system running Irish Fresian cattle.Sophie also sits on the board with arla and spends a lot of time working with the cooperative to ensure a better future for their producers or in other words the owners!
