Why Latin America is One of the Most Under-Followed and Under-Invested Regions in the World with Patrick Flood, Investment Analyst at LATAM Stocks

My guest on the show today is Patrick Flood, Investment Analysts for the LATAM Stocks Newsletter. Latin America consists of 20 countries and a population of more than 650 million people, and it is one of, maybe even the most under followed and under invested regions in the world. Is it geopolitical risk (no doubt there's that and not diminishing the significance of that risk whatsoever - we talk about it at length), but could it also be, well - it's also really hard to find good information about investments in Latin America, especially in English. That's where Patrick and his newsletter, LATAM Stocks enters the conversation. He's an expat, who's been living in Brazil full time for the last 10 years, After starting out working at a boutique asset manager, he moved on to work as an M&A analyst at a family office, then went on to work as Chief Gringo (yes that’s an official job title, look it up) at one of the largest crypto currency exchanges in Latin America. Equity analysis is his first love, and he does the dirty work, a la one of our favorites here, Paul Andreola - Patrick goes through every local Latin American exchange, and dives deep into their financial statements. Needlesstosay, I'm now a fan, and really enjoyed my conversation with Patrick covering all things Latin America. For more information about Patrick Flood and the LATAM Stocks Newsletter, please visit: You can Follow Patrick Flood on Twitter @LatamStocks: https://twitter.com/LatamStocksWatch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. YAVP/Planet MicroCap Collab, Finance Podcast Takes, Twitter Debrief, Corporate Governance + YAVP LIVE in Las Vegas with Andrew Walker, Host of the Yet Another Value Podcast (YAVP)

Speaking of Vegas, we just announced initial speakers and sponsors for our event, a list that includes my guest today on the show, Andrew Walker, Host of the Yet Another Value Podcast. Andrew will be hosting three (3) LIVE podcast conversations, three separate guests with three different ideas being discussed. We are about TWO MONTHS AWAY now, so be sure to register at www.PlanetMicroCapShowcase.com. Andrew and I also recently announced our collaboration on his show, Yet Another Value Podcast. I truly think that he has the best show breaking down investors' ideas, and in my opinion, in a world where there's enough "guru"-like pods out there, I think Yet Another Value Pod provides so much value as a listener to hear quality conversations about investment ideas. Today, we chat about working together, how this came out, our own takes on the financial podcast arena (already alluded to my main take here), as well as a debrief on what he learned from his investment in Twitter last year, corporate governance takes based on a current idea Andrew is working on and we close out on what to expect in Las Vegas for the Planet MicroCap Showcase: VEGAS!For more information about Yet Another Value Podcast/Blog, please visit: You can Follow Andrew Walker on Twitter @AndrewRangeley: https://twitter.com/AndrewRangeleyWatch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. 2022 in a Nutshell, Recognizing Mistakes, Improving his Process and 2023 Outlook with Yaron Naymark, Founder and Portfolio Manager at 1 Main Capital

For today's show, I invited back on Yaron Naymark, Founder and Portfolio Manager at 1 Main Capital. Last time I had Yaron on the show, it was in July 2022 chatting about the First Half 2022 MicroCap bloodbath, which of course we all know, got worse (Planet MicroCap Index was down ~40% for the year). I've had a few investors on here to start 2023, where we dissected 2022, what worked, what didn't, and while Yaron and I start off the conversation that way, the reason I always enjoy having him on the show is that he has a unique ability to simplify. I just have to ask one question on what happened in 2022, and I think Yaron covers that question as succinctly and clearly as anyone; in 15 minutes no less. So, we chat about 2022, recognizing mistakes, improving his process, his 2023 outlook and a short back and forth about morality with investing. Illegal Naked Short Selling and Why Should We Care? with David Wenger, Founder and CEO of ShareIntel

For today’s show, I invited on David Wenger, Founder and CEO of ShareIntel. Since the start of 2023, I’ve started seeing more news releases saying, ”ABCD Company Reports on Ongoing Investigation into Potentially Improper and Illegal Trading Activity in the Company’s Common Stock.” This was a first for me, and a trend that I wanted to understand better: is this the same fight as the AMC/Gamestop short squeeze that galvanized retail investors to fight back against Wall Street? If so, are select MicroCaps taking advantage of these same retail investors - the idea being that Wall Street is potentially illegally naked shorting our stocks too, come join us in the fight. Or, are select MicroCaps utilizing tools, like ShareIntel, to genuinely understand what is happening in their company’s stock in order to do something about it, protect long-term shareholders, or perhaps stop the bleeding because they’ll need to raise more growth capital, which will already be dilutive. I invited on David to help me understand these questions and more. For more information about ShareIntel, please visit: https://shareintel.com/Watch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. $1,800 Gold in 2011 vs. $1,800 Gold in 2023, Why Copper is Interesting + Margin is King with Brent Cook, Founder of Exploration Insights

For today’s show, I invited on Brent Cook, Founder of Exploration Insights. The first conferences I went to in my career was going to junior mining conferences back in 2011 - I think I went to 3 or 4. Sentiment was extremely high, gold crossed the $1,800/oz threshold and every newsletter writer and gold bug espoused that $5,000/oz was not out of the question by the end of 2012. Sounds eerily familiar, eh? In any case, resources markets have had a rocky 10+ years - some ups and downs mostly driven by hype, i.e., materials needed for EV markets, ESG issues in mining, etc... And, here we are in 2023, and the price of gold has stayed above $1,800/oz to start the year. Brent is a frequent guest that I turn to when I have questions about the mining industry, especially right now, where there seems to be some real tailwinds lifting the industry right now (which we discuss in our chat). Brent will also be sharing his thoughts live on a panel at our conference, the Planet MicroCap Showcase on April 25-27, 2023, so if you like what you hear today, be sure to join in Vegas to meet him in person. For more information about Exploration Insights, please visit: https://explorationinsights.com/You can Follow Brent Cook on Twitter @BrentCookgeo: https://twitter.com/BrentCookgeoWatch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. LFTD Partners (OTCQB: LIFD): A Profitable Manufacturer and Distributor of Hemp-derived and Psychoactive Products [Due Diligence Podcast]

My guest on the show today is Gerry Jacobs, CEO, and Nick Warrender, COO, LFTD Partners, Inc. (OTCQB: LIFD). LFTD Partners Inc., Jacksonville, FL (OTCQB ticker symbol LIFD) is the parent corporation of Lifted Made, Kenosha, WI (www.LiftedMade.com), which manufactures and sells hemp-derived and psychoactive products under its Urb Finest Flowers and Silly Shruum brands. LFTD Partners Inc. also owns 4.99% of CBD-infused beverage and products maker Ablis Holding Company (www.AblisBev.com), and of craft distillers Bendistillery Inc. d/b/a Crater Lake Spirits (www.CraterLakeSpirits.com) and Bend Spirits, Inc. (www.Bendistillery.com) all located in Bend, OR.I was made aware of LFTD Partners by Scott Weis from Semco Capital, and after doing a quick dive into the company, I invited them on to better understand how LFTD has gotten to where they are today. You hear me gush a little bit in this interview, not a recommendation nor do I own LFTD Partners, but I've been interviewing cannabis companies for 8-9+ years now, was right there at the beginning interviewing psychedelics companies, and have chatted with countless investors/experts that are active in the space. The majority of the companies, I would argue, have or will fail in building a business in cannabis or psychedelics, especially in this nuclear winter, negative sentiment environment for this space. And so, when I come across a company like LFTD, I wanted to share a story that, for all intents and purposes, is not just surviving, but also thriving. That's not to say there hasn't been bumps in the road, which we discuss, as well as:* Lifted Made's brands: Silly Shruum and Urb Finest Flowers* Managing regulatory risks* Building out their distribution and sales networks* Importance of Brand IP; and* Running a psychedelics/cannabis company through the current nuclear winter/negative sentimentWith that, please enjoy my conversation with Gerry Jacobs and Nick Warrender from LFTD Partners, Inc.Watch on YouTube: Today's episode is sponsored by:Socialsuite takes the complexity out of Environmental, Social, and Governance or ESG reporting. Why Gaming Companies Should Think of Themselves as Audience Companies with Hermann Peterscheck, Founder and Portfolio Manager at Hypernormal Capital Management LLC

For today’s show, I invited on Hermann Peterscheck, Founder and Portfolio Manager at Hypernormal Capital Management LLC. I met him recently when he participated in the Stock Pitch World Cup on Team Europe. Also a US-resident, he was on Team Europe because he was pitching a video game development company based in Europe. I started thinking about my own experience with video games, and it took me a minute because my heyday was playing FIFA and Madden on Playstation 2. Safe to say, the gaming industry has grown A LOT since then.I’ve also interviewed a number of MicroCap companies that would describe themselves as gaming or gaming-adjacent, and while it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize the explosion of video games, some of the newer entrants and business models haven’t quite made a whole lot of sense to me. So, I brought on Hermann, who has 20+ years experience working and investing in the gaming industry, to cure me of my old man syndrome, and hopefully help all of us better understand how to think about investing in this space. For more information about Hermann Peterscheck and Hypernormal Capital, please visit: https://hypernormalcapital.com/You can Follow Hermann Peterscheck on Twitter @petershk: https://twitter.com/petershkWatch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Two-Year Biotech Bloodbath, Poorly Constructed Phase 2B Trials and 2023 Predictions with Eden Rahim, Portfolio Manager for the Next Edge Biotech and Life Sciences Opportunities Fund

For today’s show, I invited on Eden Rahim, Portfolio Manager for the Next Edge Biotech and Life Sciences Opportunities Fund. It’s been a bloodbath for biotech in the last two years - according to the S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index, the sector has been down ~45-50%. At the same time, in 2023, also according to the S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index, the sector is up about 4-5% already on the year (as of January 20, 2023). Whether this is a sign that things are looking up for biotech is still too early to tell, but I felt its worth discussing why its been hard times in biotech in 2021 and 2022. Eden and I also discuss what he’s looking for amongst the biotech rubble, in particular, why it’s so important to pay attention to how Phase 2b clinical trials are constructed. We close out with his biotech predications for 2023.For more information about Eden Rahim and Next Edge Capital, please visit: https://www.nextedgecapital.com/funds/next-edge-biotech-and-life-sciences-opportunities-fund/overview/You can Follow Eden Rahim on Twitter @EdenRahim: https://twitter.com/EdenRahimWatch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Don’t Let Long-term Investing Blur into Entropy + Quick Pitch on $RSSS with Avi Fisher, Portfolio Manager and Chief Curiosity Officer at Long Cast Advisors

For today's show, I invited on Avi Fisher, Portfolio Manager and Chief Curiosity Officer at Long Cast Advisors. Avi and I start off the conversation reflecting on 2022, and that quickly evolved into how Avi's experience in 2020 set him up for a year, like 2022, was for MicroCaps. Specifically, he shares the best advice he received in the midst of a tough 2020 - "Don't Let Long-term Investing Blur into Entropy"; I think this phrase works for all investors and, in my opinion, can be a helpful concept when assessing and reassessing your portfolio. Following our conversation about 2022 and looking ahead to 2023, Avi and I discuss Research Solutions, RSSS on NASDAQ, which, as Avi points out, articulates his investing process in MicroCaps. For more information about Avi Fisher and Long Cast Advisers, please visit: http://www.longcastadvisers.com/You can Follow Avi Fisher on Twitter @LongCastAdviser: https://twitter.com/longcastadviser Watch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Amerigo Resources (TSX: ARG) (OTCQX: ARREF): Copper Producer without a Copper Mine [Due Diligence Series]

My guest on the show today is Aurora Davidson, President and CEO of Amerigo Resources Ltd. (TSX: ARG) / (OTCQX: ARREF). Amerigo is an innovative copper producer with a long-term relationship with Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (“Codelco”), the world’s largest copper producer. Amerigo produces copper concentrate and molybdenum concentrate as a by-product at the MVC operation in Chile by processing fresh and historic tailings from Codelco’s El Teniente mine, the world's largest underground copper mine.Despite the copper price being down from it's all-time high in late February 2022, copper has been back to 2011 levels and consistently been above $4 since 2021. In a Reuters column published on January 17, titled, "Funds jump back into copper, betting on Chinese recovery", writer Andy Home states, "Investors played copper from the short side for much of last year, if they were prepared to engage at all. Rolling lockdowns in China, an energy crisis in Europe and aggressive rate hikes in the United States were all good reasons to give Doctor Copper a wide berth. The funds' sudden return is a sign that many are betting on a much sunnier outlook." Amerigo also just announced on January 17, 2023 their 2022 production results that came in above guidance, as well as provided their guidance for 2023. With all the news around copper right now, I invited on Aurora Davidson to discuss that, and:* Amerigo's business model, and how they are copper producer without owning an actual copper mine* Working exclusively with Codelco and what that means for their business and future growth potential* Geopolitical risks working in Chile, and;* Her vision for the company in 3-5 yearsWith that, please enjoy my conversation with Aurora Davidson, President and CEO of Amerigo Resources. Overcoming Frustrating Investments, What Worked in 2022 and What Didn’t with Adam Wilk, Founder and Portfolio Manager of Greystone Capital Management

For today’s show, I invited back on Adam Wilk, Founder and Portfolio Manager of Greystone Capital Management. It’s still January, it’s still time to reflect on the year that was, and so, we did just that. Last time I had Adam on was about 4 years ago, and since then his fund has grown, as well as his experience as a MicroCap investor. We jam on a few topics here today: what worked for him in 2022, specifically: businesses doing accretive M&A (which we get into more) and activist involvement, what didn’t work, managing mental and emotional side of investing, especially in a year like 2022, capital raising in this environment and positioning himself heading into 2023. Speaking to the headline of today’s show, we also discuss why his investment in Polished.com has, “been one of the more frustrating investments I’ve ever made”, and the idea of frustrating investments in general. For more information about Adam Wilk and Greystone Capital Management, please visit: https://www.greystonevalue.com/You can Follow Adam Wilk on Twitter @AKWilk: https://twitter.com/AKWilkWatch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. China Re-Opening, Consumer Trends to Look at in China and What this Means for MicroCaps with Michael Fritzell, Editor of Asian Century Stocks

As of Sunday, January 8, 2023, China has re-opened its doors to travellers. In the previous few months, while the rest of the world has gone back to pre-pandemic guidelines and everything has opened up, China had remained on very strict lockdowns, and from a international business perspective, folks were wondering what are we supposed to do about this - will China ever re-open? If so, what will the new restrictions be?Also, how do we think about China within the international business community when you compound lockdowns with their association with allegations of supporting Putin in the Ukraine War and the crackdown on Chinese tech companies.Nevertheless, China has re-opened, and I wanted to put this news into context as some institutions start to look at investing overseas to park capital if the U.S. is to go into a recession. To help me answer all these questions, I invited on Michael Fritzell, Editor of Asian Century Stocks. Michael is Swedish citizen who has been living in Asia since 2009, currently resides in Singapore, and has been investing in Asian stocks since 2008.In our discussion today, we discuss the China re-opening, consumer trends we should be looking in China with the re-opening, non-Chinese companies that sell product to China consumer base, investing in non-China-based Asian companies, and what this all means for MicroCaps in general. For more information about Asian Century Stocks, please visit: https://www.asiancenturystocks.com/You can Follow Michael Fritzell on Twitter @Fritz844: https://twitter.com/Fritz844Watch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. I invited Artem Fokin, Founder and Portfolio Manager of Caro-Kann Capital to do our version of a 2022 wrap-up in MicroCaps and whether or not our observations could be indicators of trends for 2023. 2022 was a difficult year for almost everyone's portfolio across the board, especially if you are an active MicroCap investor, and so we reflect on events that could've been catalysts for steep declines in MicroCap stock prices. Ep. 252 - Investing Self-Reflection on Jouranlytic with Jake Taylor, Founder of Journalytic and Co-Host of Value After Hours Podcast

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Jake Taylor, Founder of Journalytic and Co-Host of Value After Hours Podcast. A few short weeks ago, Jake and his team did a soft launch of Journalytic, an online investment journaling tool that was born from Jake's desire to have something not only to track his ideas, but that included many additional features.2022 has been quite a year in the investing world - the list of events that happened is too long to go over here - but, even when things aren't as hectic as they were, this is a good time to self-reflect, think about what worked, what didn't work. What better way to start practicing introspection than by doing it, and I think Journalytic is a really interesting tool to help with that. We spend most of the episode talking about Journalytic and how it works - in fact, if you watch the video version of today's pod, we did a screen share for Jake to demo the product. We close out with Jake's own reflection on 2022 and the year that was, and how he's getting ready for the year to come. Ep. 251 - Leveraging Your Stock Watchlist and Defining a Decent Business with Nat Stewart, Founder of NAS Capital [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Nat Stewart, Full-time private investor, Founder of NAS Capital and Editor of the Nat Stewart - Stock Picking Newsletter on Substack. At the time of the recording, only a couple weeks ago, it seemed there was a never ending stream of bad news in finance. So, Nat and I wanted to share with you a good ole fashioned MicroCap conversation. Tune out all the noise by joining Nat and I talking about our mutual love of MicroCap stocks, as well as his investing philosophy with an idea that demonstrates his strategy in action. For me, the best advice Nat gave here was how he uses his stock watchlist - we talk about it all the time on pod, almost everyone we talk to uses one, but Nat clearly outlines a simple, useful way to leverage a watchlist. Ep. 250 - Planes, Trains and Trucks...Investing in Freight Transports with Vanck Zhu, @vanckzhu

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Vanck Zhu, full-time private investor. Prior to becoming a full-time investor, as well as working at Etsy, Vanck previously covered the Freight Transports sector on the sell-side and parlayed that experience and launched a substack called, ”Planes, Trains, &...Trucks.” Even though he hasn’t updated his substack for little bit, he still has a wealth of knowledge about the space and thought it’d interesting to learn more about the freight transports sector. He also happened to compete on Season 29 of the Amazing Race, so I guess it’s all very appropriate that not only did Vanck compete on THE reality competition show around traveling, he covered the travel (albeit on the freight side) for a living. You can Follow Vanck Zhu on Twitter @vanckzhu: https://twitter.com/vanckzhuWatch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Ep. 249 - Beware of Carrot Chasers with Brian Weber, General Partner at BRW Investors [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Brian Weber, General Partner at BRW Investors. I've known Brian for a few years now, and we actually did a fun panel in 2021 with fellow guests of the show, Chris Krug and Artem Fokin, discussing MicroCap Due Diligence in the virtual world. Brian is as active a MicroCap investor as it gets, who has the record, or is right up there for doing the most 1x1 meetings (at least at our events) in the last few years. In our discussion, we talk about his background, where we have similar inspirations for getting into MicroCaps (our dads!). One key part of the conversation and why I titled this episode what I did is because MicroCap companies can have a tendency to chase that carrot or trend that investors are flocking to. We chat about what separates the companies that are prepared to carrot chase vs. those who are just going to keep chasing. For more information about Brian Weber, you can connect with him on LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brian-weber-12310558/Watch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. LogicMark, Inc. provides personal emergency response systems (PERS), health communications devices and technologies to create a Connected Care Platform. Ep. 248 - Time to Look for “Fallen Angels” Stocks? with Fadi Diab (@TheGladiatorHC) and Billy Duberstein (Stone Oak Capital) [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Fadi Diab @TheGladiatorHC on Twitter and Billy Duberstein from Stone Oak Capital. We recently published the Q3 2022 issue of the Planet MicroCap Review magazine, which is now available on SCRIBD, ISSUU and Substack. The theme for this issue is "Time to Look for “Fallen Angels” Stocks?". According to the Planet MicroCap Index, from Jan 2022 to the end of Q3, MicroCaps are down 34.74%, not too far off from all major indices. Almost every MicroCap company you look at is down at least 30%-50% on average. As my friend and colleague, Rick Rule, loves to remind me, "Bear Markets are the Authors of Bull Markets", thus I sought after a few authors to help me answer if now is the time to look at some of the most beaten up names out there.Special thank you to Ben Claremon and Tim Travis, who although couldn't join our chat today, contributed great pieces discussing Fallen Angels as well. Fadi and Billy jumped on to talk more about "Fallen Angels", what that phrase means to them, and more. My favorite part of our conversation today that I think you should all pay attention to is when we discuss how to determine whether a particular stock that's down 30-40-50-80 percent is deserved because it's a dog, or whether it's a quality business whose valuation is more of an overreaction - I thought Billy and Fadi made some excellent points and suggestions on what they look for here. Ep. 246 - Durable Growth: Investing in the Eye of the Storm Right Now with Jeremy Deal, Managing Partner of JDP Capital Management [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Jeremy Deal, Managing Partner of JDP Capital Management. I last chatted with Jeremy on the podcast back in September 2020, back when stonks only go up. Safe to say, the world was a little different then, and things have shifted quite a bit. We got to chatting offline about the current environment, specifically how he's approaching investing in the eye of the storm. Jeremy was an active investor back in the 2008-2009 time period, so I wanted his take on how things are compared to then. Also, he sent me a paper by Meritech Capital about “Durable Growth”, and he's using this framework to help him through this difficult investing environment. We wrap up talking about how Jeremy would deploy this framework in MicroCaps. For more information about Jeremy Deal and JDP Capital Management, please visit: https://jdpcap.com/You can Follow Jeremy Deal on Twitter @Jeremy_Deal: https://twitter.com/Jeremy_DealWatch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Ep. 243 - LIVE: Does Mining Have a PR Problem? with Dr. Nicole Adshead-Bell, Tavi Costa and Jamie Holman [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I'm sharing with you the live Planet MicroCap Podcast panel I hosted at the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek recorded last week. Joining me for this panel was Dr. Nicole Adshead-Bell, President at Cupel Advisory, Jamie Holman, Portfolio Manager at Merk Investments and Tavi Costa, Partner and Portfolio Manager at Crescat Capital. The original theme for the panel was "Pro Tips on Investing in Junior Miners", which we do answer, but the overall take home message from the live audience was our discussion about the Mining industry's PR problem. We unpack why mining has such a bad reputation with the average retail investor, why the negative sentiment in mining right now feels very different than past troughs, as well as what the mining industry needs to do to push back against the perception that mining is bad. My three guests are very experienced professional investors in mining, and wherever you land on the spectrum in terms of mining or precious metals in your portfolio, I think you will really appreciate their insights on this topic. Also, special thank you to the entire team at the Precious Metals Summit and the Levental Family for your hospitality and hosting one of the best MicroCap events on the calendar. For more information about Dr. Nicole Adshead-Bell and Cupel Advisory, please visit: https://www.cupeladvisory.com/For more information about Tavi Costa and Crescat Capital, please visit: https://www.crescat.net/For more information about Jamie Holman and Merk Investments, please visit: https://www.merkinvestments.com/index.phpWatch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Ep. 242 - Focus on KPI’s and MicroCap Pessimism with Maj Soueidan, GeoInvesting.com, and Quim Abril, Draco Global [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Maj Soueidan from GeoInvesting.com, and Quim Abril, Portfolio Manager of Draco Global. I haven’t had Maj on the pod for a little bit, and it’s been a long summer, with a potentially longer winter ahead of us, and I wanted his thoughts on navigating our current MicroCap environment. Maj also recommended having Quim Abril on the show to give his take as well, and talk about his investing course geared towards native Spanish speakers. We discuss in depth that right now, at this point in 2022, when looking at MicroCaps (at any potential investment), Maj and Quim are focusing on KPI’s, Key Performance Indicators that the company can show that indicates their business success, growth or lack thereof. It’s easy right now to get wrapped up in so many different data points at both the macro and individual company scale, so being able to lock in on information that one can clearly see the overall performance of the business. Quim and Maj give a number of live examples to demonstrate what they mean by this. We also talk about overall pessimism in MicroCaps, thoughts on why and as demonstrated with honing in KPIs, what we can do about it.For more information about GeoInvesting, please visit: https://geoinvesting.com/For more information about Draco Global, please visit: https://www.dracoglobal.es/You can Follow Maj Soueidan on Twitter @MajGeoinvesting: https://twitter.com/majgeoinvestingYou can Follow Quim Abril on Twitter @AbrilQuim: https://twitter.com/AbrilQuimWatch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Ep. 240 - Navigating the Extremely Bearish Sentiment in Cannabis with Aaron Edelheit, CEO of Mindset Capital [Planet MicroCap Podcast]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Aaron Edelheit, Author of “The Hard Break: The Case for the 24/6 Lifestyle” and CEO of Mindset Capital. While most of the MicroCap space has had a rough year in 2022, I'd argue that two sectors that have particularly had it rough are Mining and Psychedelics (which we talked about in Episode 239 with Fadi Diab). Probably the sector, however, that has received, not only the least amount of "love" so to speak, it's being completely forgotten about and not mentioned at all - Cannabis! I've heard Aaron on multiple podcasts talking about the opportunities in Cannabis, and rather than doing a "Cannabis Investing 101" pod, we wanted to talk about why capital has dried up for the cannabis industry (for now), why brokerage houses have made it extremely difficult to buy cannabis stocks, and most importantly the headwinds that have caused this "Cannabis Winter." Don't worry Cannabis enthusiasts, we do also cover what catalysts could result in a rebound for the cannabis industry. Ep. 239 - Thinking Like a Contrarian, So Why Not Psychedelics and Mining? with Fadi Diab, @TheGladiatorHC

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with @TheGladiatorHC himself, formerly anonymous FinTweeter, Fadi Diab. I always enjoy chatting with Fadi, and we haven’t done a pod in a while, so I was keen to get an update and he did not disappoint. We talked about topics I did not expect to cover, and in true contrarian form, we went deep on two extremely unloved sectors right now: Psychedelics and Mining, plus a whole bunch more. For more information about Fadi Diab and The Spec Investor, please visit: https://www.thespecinvestor.com.au/You can Follow Fadi Diab on Twitter @TheGladiatorHC: https://twitter.com/TheGladiatorHCWatch on YouTube:Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights. Ep. 238 - Global Digital Divide: Understanding China’s Role in Global Technology and...MicroCaps with Rick Carew, Visiting Lecturer of Global Commerce at University of Virginia [Planet MicroCap]

For this episode of the Planet MicroCap Podcast, I spoke with Rick Carew, full-time investor as well as visiting lecturer at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and former Reporter and Editor at the Wall Street Journal covering Asia Finance. I recently met Rick via Twitter when chatting about one of the recent Due Diligence pods; after learning more about his background and expertise, we had to do an episode. At the University of Virginia, Rick has taught a course titled, ”Global Digital Divide: Big Tech in a Multipolar World” that explores how executives and policymakers are grappling with the rise of Big Tech across the globe with a particular emphasis on Silicon Valley and China’s tech ecosystems.Considering all the news around China, technology and as we discuss on the show, the implications of Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s imminent re-election for a third term, I thought the timing was perfect to have Rick on to chat about all of these topics. And as a bonus, we also get into Rick’s approach to MicroCap investing, his opinion on why investing in MicroCaps can generate outsized returns and of course, why investors should be highly skeptical of US-listed MicroCaps with operations in China. You can Follow Rick Carew on Twitter @RickCarew: https://twitter.com/rickcarewWatch on YouTube: Today’s episode is sponsored by:Stream by AlphaSense, an expert interview transcript library that integrates AI-generated call summaries and NLP search technology so their clients can quickly pinpoint the most critical insights.
