Ep 539Postgame 8/16: Flyers bounce back, all is well again!

2-1 baby! The Philadelphia Flyers bounced back from their from loss in the bubble with a 1-0 victory in game three against the Montreal Canadiens to regain control of the series. This game was far from perfect, but the defensive effort in front of Carter Hart, who out-dueled Carey Price for the second time in three games, was on point, and if the orange and black can control the pace of the games like this, and squeeze a little more offense out of their top-six forwards, things will once again be sunny in Philadelphia. Ep 532Postgame 8/8: WOOOOO

Number one seed, baby! The Philadelphia Flyers swept the Eastern Conference round robin tournament, taking down the Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, and Tampa Bay Lightning to earn the top seed in the east. Carter Hart and the Flyers gave up one goal on 24 shots to Tampa- a team that averaged three-and-a-half goals and 31 shots per game in the regular season. Philly's depth has been tremendous, as has been the team defense and goaltending. Joel Farabee, subbing on the top line for a scratched Jake Voracek, contributed a goal on a silky setup from Shayne Gostisbehere, after earlier picking up an assist, but really it was the bottom-six, and specifically Nicolas Aube-Kubel, who earned the spotlight on Saturday night. NAK netted a pair of goals, the first multi-goal game of his career, in the first period to give Philadelphia their first lead on Tampa in forever. From there, it was all about smart hockey, team defense, and steady goaltending- tradmarks of the 2019-20 (yup, 2019 was really part of this season, despite it being about a decade-and-a-half ago) Flyers. Ghost and Couts each picked up a couple of assists, and Scott Laughton continued his points streak by assisting Tyler Pitlick's empty net goal with 1:20 left on the clock to clinch the East's top spot. It certainly was all fun and games on the BSH Radio postgame show and I bet if you listen to it your day will be better. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 525Postgame 8/2: This is going to be a fun playoff

I don't think too many people had Michael Raffl and Nate Thompson combining for the first couple of goals of these pseudo-playoffs, but here we are. Raffl, who later exited with what could be a costly lower-body injury, potted the first goal of the game and then set up Nate Thompson with the second, en route to a 4-1 win over the Presidents' Trophy-winning Boston Bruins. Carter Hart was his typical, confident and smooth self, stopping all but one of Boston's 35 shots on goal, and that one wasn't even technically a shot- Hart sealed off an attempt from behind the net but the puck seemed to hit Robert Hagg in front and careen behind the still 21-year-old netminder for the Bruins' only tally. There were a lot of positive in this one, from the team's depth shining, to the Travis Sanheim and Phil Myers pair stepping up, to the utter domination of the B's "Perfection Line" - if you weren't excited before, there's still plenty of room on this bandwagon. Ep 524Checking out the competition: No really, Brad Marchand still sucks

The Bruins were the last team the Flyers faced before the league was forced to pause because of gestures wildly at all of this all of this, and the Bruins are the first team the Flyers face in the pre-playoff round robin tournament. Feels fitting, in a way. Like we never left. We're joined by Sky from Stanley Cup of Chowder to get a little insight into how the Bruins have looked since returning to the ice.
