The Bridge - Episode One - Bedtime Stories

bonus

Hey everyone, Alex here. While we’re in our mid-season hiatus I thought you might enjoy hearing the first episodes of the shows we’ve done crossovers with for the first half of season 5. It's an alternate 2016, and Watchtower 10 sits in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, keeping lonely watch over the Transcontinental Bridge. Each watchtower sits hundreds of feet away from the Bridge, broadcasting regular traffic reports to ensure that proper safety precautions are taken. These lighthouses (for cars) are filled with a carefully selected (and very capable) crew.Watchtower 10's necessary personnel happen to be: a generalist DJ who spends her free time relaying folklore from abandoned parts of the Bridge, her supervisor (who's only there because he lost a bet), an unfailingly optimistic Bridge Travel Agent, and a groundskeeper who has a thing for romantic comedies. Here’s the first episode of the Bridge. For more info about this episode and the show, check out: http://www.thebridgepod.com/Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ostium. Hosted on Acast. Behind the Collective

bonus

We are living in unprecedented times. Not just with the pandemic, but with our country, and the rest of the world, speaking up and fighting against racism that has been going on for centuries. Changes need to happen at every level of our society. If you can, please help support Black Lives Matter: https://www.thecut.com/article/george-floyd-protests-how-to-help-where-to-donate.htmlI’d also like to recommend season two of Scene on Radio, Seeing White, which goes into the history of systemic racism in the United States: https://www.sceneonradio.org/seeing-white/ And the latest episode of Point Mystic where you get to hear from an activist known as Xochitl in her own words of what it is to be Black in America: https://radiopublic.com/point-mystic-6rNAXq/s1!cd286_______________________________________________________________________________________________________Earlier this year, I was invited by Mike Troup of the Earth Collective to participate in a new show, Behind the Collective, where we put each other in the hot seat and ask questions about each other’s shows. In this particular episode, we talked about each of our first episodes, which led to discussions about writing, creativity, storytelling, and podcasting. Mike has graciously allowed us to run this episode of Behind the Collective for the Ostium listeners. Enjoy!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ostium. Hosted on Acast. E

Middle Below is an audio drama about ghosts, cats, and the slightly odd people who look after them.' There is a world that runs parallel to ours, a world filled with ghosts. They call it 'The Below.’ Middle:Below is the story of a disgruntled traveler, a frustrated writer, a slightly nervous ghost and a very enigmatic cat. Whatever adventures await them, we can be certain, that bad things will happen.I first came across David Devereux’s writing and acting in the fantastic Tin Can Audio which pulls you right in from the start. When I heard about the new show Middle Below I was immediately interested and excited, and the first season has been everything I hoped for and more. Telander. The part of Jake is performed by Chris Fletcher. The part of Taylor is performed by David Devereux. The part of Gil is performed by David Pellow. And the part of Sans the cat is performed by Megan “Bucky” Buchanan.Sound design was done by David Devereux, with editing and production by Hail and Well Met Podcasts. S5 Ep 50Episode 50 - Guild of Adventurers

E

Firstly, thank you so much for continuing to listen to Ostium. With everyone going on right now, Team Ostium hope it provides a nice warm light during these pretty bleak times. That being said, we will be going on our first mid-season hiatus with the release of the next episode after this one. I want to give all our future crossover shows every opportunity to get their side of the recording done, but I also understand this is really hard right now. So we’ll be going on a three month break and returning with Episode 52 on September 6th. We also want send out a massive thank you to all our Patrons who continue to support the show, without you we wouldn’t be able to pay our actors, or have a website, or many other things that keep the lights on for the Ostium Network. So thank you. And Team Ostium wants to extend an extra large thank you and warm welcome to our newest patron, Nse. Three adventurers travel the world of Kalanthus, uncovering hidden mysteries lost to the ravages of time in this story-driven, D&D based podcast. While I have played many a D&D campaign in my younger years, I have yet to fully immerse myself in the world of actual play podcasts, fortunately my talented sound guys of Hail and Well Met Podcasts happen to do exactly this for fun in their great show. So if you’re looking for the right D&D podcast to get started with, and you enjoyed this crossover, then you’d better start at the beginning of Guild of Adventurers. This episode was written by Tarran Merlo and Mike Nye.The part of Monica is performed by Georgia Mckenzie. All other parts are performed by Tarran Merlo.Sound design was done by the same guys who wrote this episode, Hail and Well Met Podcasts. E

Superstition is a southwestern gothic mystery audio drama about a private eye, a bartender, a cop, a missing girl, an old mystery and one very spooky town in Arizona.I can remember gearing up for the release of this show and how excited I was. The premise alone had me totally hooked. And that killer logo. The music for the show sets the scene so well. With each episode you’re completely enveloped by the atmosphere. And the diverse cast do such a great job of portraying fascinating characters. And there’s just something about Jack St. James and her attitude to everything that makes me just love her. This episode was co-written by Sarah Kolb and Alex C. Jason Cawfield, known as the global tinker, has been imprisoned in the Confederacy Supermax Prison for a crime he claims he didn’t commit. He’s a tinker, a biohacker, and a part of Tinker International which is a volunteer organization that’s now associated with bio warfare.A show that was recommended to me by Hail and Well Met Podcasts, and was one of the last additions to this crossover season. It’s a great show that keeps you guessing over what will happen next, especially when you think you’ve got a good grasp on things. S5 Ep 44Episode 44 - Kalila Stormfire

E

Glamour spell gone wrong? Astral projection got you untethered? Want to know why your angry dead rich father is haunting you? Consider Kalila Stormfire’s Economical Magick Services. After a controversial fallout with her coven, Kalila Stormfire must juggle complex clients and an anonymous critic hellbent on besmirching her new business. The decaying urban block where Kal operates appreciates her affordable experience in a broad range of supernatural ailments and remedies. Still, Kal is not sure if her talent is enough to stop whoever has been posting bad reviews and persuading customers to cancel appointments. If you like stories about minority witches in modern-day working class neighborhoods, meddling love goddesses, and morally ambiguous spellcraft…this is the tale for you.I can remember hearing the first teasers and chatter about this show when the amazing Lisette Alvarez first announced it was being released. My initial thought was how a show like this hadn’t been done already, quickly followed by . . . I can’t wait to hear it! Every episode in its two seasons has been a delight, from the early days when we were just getting to know Kalila, to the expanding complex and diverse cast, to the growing and fascinating world. He's been hired to meet the locals and record their oral histories for the town's time capsule. The unfolding history of the town mixes folklore, paranormal, mystery and humor.I had this podcast recommended to me a couple years ago and was delighted to find a lot to catch up on. It was the first show I listened to that had episodes on the shorter side and it did take me a little getting used. I marathoned it pretty quickly and now I avidly await each new episode and know it’s always going to be a delight. The creator does a great job of creating a whole unique world with this island and its strange and unusual characters, as well as taking listeners back into the past and how things came to be. S5 Ep 41Episode 41 - The Earth Collective

E

The Earth Collective is a sci-fi audio drama delivered as a first hand account from the eyes of Joseph Crane, Humanity's "last historian," as he attempts to chronicle their survival in rolling cities known as The Collective, fleeing from a malicious entity only found on the dark side of the planet.I remember discovering this podcast either just as it debuted in February 2017 or shortly after and the story drew me in right away. The creator has clearly done so much work in world building and making it complex and fascinating. With each episode, it feels like you’re going deeper into a work of epic science fiction. And the great thing is even though the show is now in it’s third season, there’s still so much story to tell about the world of Oasus, and its people. If you enjoyed this crossover episode, subscribe to the Earth Collective, start at the beginning and be transported to a distant world where a future humanity is eking out a new life on a strange planet. This episode was co-written by Mike Troup and Alex C. The Complete Ostium Season One (REMASTERED) - Part Three [RE-RELEASE]

E

A re-release due to episode no longer being available in regular feeds.Welcome to the complete Ostium Season One (Remastered) - Part Three. I know. That's a mouthful. So let's break it up into its separate parts. The Complete Ostium Season One: That's right, we're releasing the entire season one without the chit-chat before and after the episode so new fans can gobble up the whole season much faster and quickly get caught up. Remastered: When I first started making Ostium, it was my introduction to podcasts and sound design and producing. Since then I've learned a lot, and wanted to clean up and equalize the sound so the episodes were more even and cleaner, also there were a few sound effects I wanted to fix. Part Three: I've divided this "complete" season one into three parts. Because Part One is two hours long. Part Two is an hour and 24 minutes long. Part Three is two hours and three minutes long. These parts follow the three story-arcs of the first season. Part Three consists of episodes eight through ten, as Jake and Monica travel back to the future, and to some very familiar places to Jake. Episode 8: Back to the Future Episode 9: Avalon Episode 10: A Crack in the Edge of the World, Part One All episodes were written and produced by Alex C. Telander. The part of Jake Fisher is performed by Chris Fletcher. The past of Monica is performed by Georgia Mckenzie. Interstitial music pieces were composed by Chris Fletcher. Background music is courtesy of the incredible people at the Free Music Archive. All sound effects are courtesy of the talented people at Freesound.org. If you enjoyed this and would like more Ostium as well as to support the show, consider helping us out on Patreon for as little as $2 a month where you'll get access to many bonus mini episodes, upcoming outtakes for season 2, and special mini episodes called The Ostium Files. When you become a patron, you will be assigned a unique door number, and will one day get your very own Ostium File. So consider supporting Ostium now!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ostium. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
