Behind the Ostium Part 1 - Origin Story
bonusHello wonderful listeners, Alex C. Telander here, creator and writer for Ostium. So I’ve got good news and bad news and I always go with the bad news first, so here we go: it’s looking like Ostium Season Six won’t be coming out until 2022, hopefully in January. Due to Covid and a number of other factors, including the fact that my family will be welcoming our second son into the world in December, things got pushed back. But I’m really hoping for early 2022. And there will be an announcement towards the end of August about something we’re going to be doing with Ostium Season Six.Okay, now the good news. Because it’s going to be a while before you get new content here, and as you know I’m a big fan of releasing extras, you’re going to start getting the Behind the Ostium series. Until now this has only been available on our Patreon, but I’ve decided to start releasing it here on our main feed to keep you entertained until you get new episodes of Ostium. Now, if you want to get access to the entire series, get ad free episodes, and help support the Ostium Network, you can join our Patreon at the $5 tier and above and get access right now to over 40 episodes of Behind the Ostium. Visit the Ostium Patreon for more details. In the debut episode of Behind the Ostium - a new series giving a behind the scenes look at Ostium from the story development to writing to recording to production - I talk about where the idea for Ostium came from, how I developed it into a podcast, and some of the communication I had with Chris Fletcher (the voice of Jake Fisher) in the early days when Ostium was just beginning, leading all the way up to the release of the first episode, Population Zero, on January 1, 2017.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ostium. CROATOAN REMIX EPISODE
ESo last year the Ostium Podcast got invited to do a showcase for a virtual podcast convention, but unfortunately things never worked out. Nevertheless, I had my awesome sound guys at Hail and Well Met Podcasts play around with the second episode of Ostium, CROATOAN, where they added in better sound effects, some really cool music, and kicked the whole episode up a notch, and I was really happy with the result. Since this new reworked episode never got used, it’s just been sitting on my harddrive doing nothing, so I decided to share it with all you wonderful listeners as a treat. So enjoy Ostium Episode 2: CROATOAN as you’ve never heard it before. And if you're interested in taking advantage of the earphone ad at the beginning of the episode, just head on over to http://www.sudio.com/nio-white and when you go to check out be sure to use promo code OSTIUM15 to get 15% off your order!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ostium. Lake Clarity Episode One
bonusEHey everyone, Alex C. Telander. So I realized recently that during the mid-season break for season five I ran the first episodes to the shows we were doing crossovers with and forgot to do the rest of the crossover shows once the season was done, so that’s what you’ll get to hear over the next few days, ending with the only two episodes ever released of the wonderful Starless. Give them a listen, they’re all great shows. And if you enjoy them, be sure to check them out wherever you get your podcasts and subscribe. The other thing I wanted to talk about was The Earth Collective. This was the show we did the first crossover with in season five. In addition to being a great show with incredible world building, the creator just launched a Kickstarter for the first Earth Collective Book, so if you would like to go support that and get a bunch of goodies too, you can check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tecstory/the-earth-collective-book-volume-one.Seth, Ally, Mike, Erin, and Brandon have arrived at Lake Clarity! Today is full of introductions, exploration, and crowbars. What will the teens find in the headmaster's cabin? Why did Camp Clarity shut down? Why is this area so desolated? The teens seek out to find answers to all these questions and more!Join the kids as they celebrate their last summer together, and discover the mysteries of Lake Clarity.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/ostium. SCP Crossover
bonusEHey everyone, Alex C. Telander here. So last year I got to talking with my good podcast friend Pacific Obadiah, who makes a lot of great shows. One of the shows he helps make is SCP Archives, a fantastic horror podcast. They've done a couple crossover episodes and he invited me to do one with Ostium and it came out great. A real dark and bloody episode. And now he's very graciously allowed me to rebroadcast the episode on the Ostium feed, which you are literally listening to right now. So sit back, unless you're driving, in which case keep doing exactly what you're doing. And get ready for a very special crossover event with this creepy Ostium episode run through the SCP filter. And if you enjoy it, be sure to check out the great show SCP Archives wherever you get your podcasts. And thanks once again to Pacific for coming to me with this and letting me repost it to you wonderful Ostium listeners. S5 Ep 59Episode 59 - What Goes Around
EAnd now we come to the end of season 5. This is been a lot of hard work to write and put together, but it’s also been an absolute joy. I knew Jake and Monica would go on lots of adventures over the course of this season, but never envisioned many of them. Of course, there were some journeys that could not be completed, even though I wrote the scripts for those episodes, and if you become a patron of the Ostium Network at patreon.com/ostiumpodcast you’ll get to read those scripts. I always knew Jake and Monica would make it back together at some point, but not exactly how, and what interesting trinkets they’d be bringing along. For now this brings an end to their journey in searching for each other through many of the doors of Ostium, and now they are back together. It also represents a break until the beginning of their next adventure coming in 2021 with season six. Stay tuned and keep your ears open for aural breadcrumbs and auditory surprises being released before the start of next season. This episode was written by Alex C. Telander. The part of Jake is performed by Chris Fletcher. The part of Monica is performed by Georgia Mckenzie.Sound design was done by Hail and Well Met Podcasts. S5 Ep 57Episode 57 - Albion
EKind of Lord of the Rings, except with an awesome gay sorceress on the planet of Albion.I’ve wondered for a while with the creation of the Ostium spin-off Circe on the distant planet of Albion, if Jake or Monica might one day end up there somehow. This is the story that came out of that, as I wondered what Pragma might be up to now that Thyra is gone. I think there may be more visits from one or more of our main characters to Albion in the future. You’ll just have to wait and see. This episode was written by Alex C. EA comedic post-apocalyptic tale, this podcast follows former radio host Jo Prendergast at the explosive end of the world. Keep up with Jo’s ham radio transmissions as she uses humor and luck to survive.I fell in love with this show from the start, with the interesting, diverse cast. The funny writing. And just the realness of the show, even if it is set in a post-apocalyptic world. There’s a whole episode about periods, because that’s still something to deal with when the world is ending. If you thought you’d heard your fill of end of the world audiodramas, then you really need to check this one out. This episode was co-written by JJ Ranvier and Alex C. S5 Ep 53Episode 53 - Starless
EA post-apocalyptic audio drama, in which rampant fires have destroyed not only lives and the earth, but what little civilization was left. Rhana is on a mission to restore humanity to the world. While only a few episodes of Starless were ever released, due to the creator being unable to continue to with the show, what was released was compelling and engrossing. When we arranged to do a crossover episode, I was excited about writing it, considering for the last three years I have dealt with devastating fires in some shape or form, living in Northern California. It was a future I could comprehend, and an empathy I could identify with. While the main feed for Starless is no longer available, listeners are able to access it on archive.org. Join our narrator as they discover where they are, when they are, and the mystery surrounding how they got there. On July 15th, 2018, Dwayne sent me his fanfic for Door 129. I’d invited Ostium fans to submit they’re own Ostium door stories and Dwayne got in touch with an Ostium door idea he had about Centralia, which he wrote and recorded, and we put it together and released it. And then people started asking Dwayne what happened next after his Ostium door story? And thus Manifestations was born.
