How the Browns will control the Houston Texans on both sides of the ball: An Orange and Brown Talk Special Edition
On this Friday Gotta Watch The Tape from cleveland.com, Ellis Williams breaks down the Houston Texans on both sides of the ball while Doug Lesmerises nods along. The Texans are scheduled to visit the Browns at 1 p.m. on Sunday in a game that might feature rain and wind. Houston has a franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson and a star left tackle in Laremy Tunsil, but not much else on offense. There's no real run game, and Myles Garrett and Denzel Ward should be able to provide answers to the Houston pass game. On defense, the Texans have been one of the worst teams in the league. J.J. Watt is there, but no longer playing at his peak, and former Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby has provided solid coverage. But this again is a defense on which the Browns should be able to run, and if the weather is bad, that might be an edge for the home team. Everything you need to get ready for Sunday's game is in this pod. Thanks for listening to Gotta Watch The Tape in the Orange and Brown Talk feed. Breaking down both sides of Baker Mayfield vs. the NFL's No. 1 defense: Gotta Watch The Tape -- An Orange and Brown Talk Special Edition
It's the Friday Gotta Watch The Tape from cleveland.com, and we're breaking down both sides of the showdown between Baker Mayfield the the NFL's No. 1 ranked defense. So thanks for joining Doug Lesmerises, Scott Patsko and Ellis Williams for this twice-weekly deep dive into the Browns using numbers and film. First up, Scott analyzes Mayfield and how the Browns have used him so far this season in the play-action game. Kevin Stefanski and Freddie Kitchens have different ideas on how to use play-action, and what Stefanski wants to do this year seems to makes a lot of sense. But so far, Mayfield's play-action numbers don't quite stack up to what he did under Kitchens last year. Why is that? Scott will tell you, and he predicts how things will continue with this big part of what the Browns ask Mayfield to do. Then Ellis takes a deep look at the Indianapolis defense that the Browns are facing Sunday and just why that group ranks first in the league in defensive DVOA. Ellis looks at the talent up front, the scheme that will require Mayfield to hit tight windows on Sunday, and the success that the Colts' defense has had this season on third down. This is the best defense the Browns have faced so far, and we'll know a lot more about this Cleveland offense after Sunday. Thanks for listening to Gotta Watch The Tape. How the Browns defense shuts down the run, and life without Nick Chubb: Gotta Watch The Tape -- An Orange and Brown Talk Special Edition
Thanks for joining this Gotta Watch The Tape episode on the Orange and Brown Talk feed, as Scott Patsko, Ellis Williams and Doug Lesmerises use film and numbers to break down two important issues for the Cleveland Browns. On this Tuesday episode, Scott leads off with a look into the Cleveland success in stopping opponents from running. It is only because the Browns give up so much in the pass game, or are there players like Larry Ogunjobi who are actually making it tough for opposing ground games to get rolling. Then Ellis checks in on the Nick Chubb injury. Will the Browns actually be fine without him? What will Kareem Hunt's workload look like? Will Baker Mayfield have to throw it more? Is D'Ernest Johnson a real answer in relief? This is a new and growing option in the Orange and Brown Talk feed, and we appreciate you giving it a chance.
