皆が不思議がる部分を、自分の人生から消去していく。それが治るということなのかもしれない。
ここ二週間で１４回、「何で結婚しないの？」と言われた。「何でアルバイトなの？」は１２回だ。とりあえず、言われた回数が多いものから消去していってみようと思った。
私はどこかで、変化を求めていた。それか悪い変化でもいい変化でも、膠着状態の今よりましなのではないかと思えた。白羽さんは、返事をしないまま、目の前のコーヒーの黒い水面を、穴でも開いているかのように探刻な風情で覗気こんでいるだけだった。
結局、いざ「それじゃあ」と帰ろうとすると白羽さんは「いや、もう少し考えてみても。。。」などと曖昧なことを言い、うだうだと引き止められて時間が過ぎて行った。

"So, if it's difficult, there's no need to force it. Unlike Shiraha-san, I don't care about many things. Especially because I don't have my own will, I'm perfectly fine following the village's policy if there is one."
皆が不思議がる部分を、自分の人生から消去していく。それが治るということなのかもしれない。
I'm gradually eliminating the parts that everyone finds strange from my life. Perhaps that's what it means to get better.

In the past two weeks, I've been asked 14 times, "Why aren't you getting married?" and 12 times, "Why are you working part-time?" For now, I thought I'd start by eliminating the questions I've been asked most frequently.

Somewhere inside, I was seeking change. Whether it was a bad change or a good change, I felt it might be better than the current state of stagnation.

Shiraha-san, without responding, simply stared at the black surface of his coffee in front of him as if he were searching for a hole with a probing demeanor.
結局、いざ「それじゃあ」と帰ろうとすると白羽さんは「いや、もう少し考えてみても。。。」などと曖昧なことを言い、うだうだと引き止められて時間が過ぎて行った。
In the end, when I was about to say, "Well then, I'll go," Shiraha-san said ambiguous things like, "No, maybe think a little more..." and I was detained aimlessly, and time passed.
