「うん、そう、事実の方に顔を出してたんだけど、ちょっと発注だけやろうかなって。。。」

「え、違い、熱心ですね。」

バックルームには早めに出勤した店長がいた。

「店長、これから夜勤ですか？」

「お、古倉さん、どうしたの？」

「たまたま、用事が終わって近くを通ってので、発注の数字だけ入れようかと。。。」

「あ、お恵子の発注？俺、さっき数字入れちゃったけど直していいよー」

「ありがとうございます」

店長は寝不足なのか、顔色が悪い。

私は店のコンピューターを操作し、発注を始めた。

「夜勤はどうですか？人、集まりそうですか？」

「いやー、駄目だねー。一人面接来だけど、落としちゃったよ。白羽の件もあるしさ、次は使えるやつ雇わないと」

店長は、使える、という言葉をよく使うので、自分が使えるかタウ変えないか考えてしまう。使える道具になりたくて働いているのかもしれない。

"Yeah, I was actually in the back, but I thought I'd just handle the orders for a bit..."

「え、違い、熱心ですね。」

"Oh, no, you're dedicated, aren't you?"

バックルームには早めに出勤した店長がいた。

In the backroom, the store manager who came to work early was there.

「店長、これから夜勤ですか？」

"Manager, are you going to work the night shift now?"

「お、古倉さん、どうしたの？」

"Oh, Furukura-san, what's up?"

「たまたま、用事が終わって近くを通ってので、発注の数字だけ入れようかと。。。」

"Well, I happened to finish some errands and was passing by, so I thought I'd just input the order numbers..."

「あ、お恵子の発注？俺、さっき数字入れちゃったけど直していいよー」

"Oh, Keiko's orders? I actually entered the numbers a while ago, but feel free to make any changes."

「ありがとうございます」

"Thank you."

店長は寝不足なのか、顔色が悪い。

The store manager seemed sleep-deprived or had a pale complexion.

私は店のコンピューターを操作し、発注を始めた。

I operated the store's computer and started entering orders.

「夜勤はどうですか？人、集まりそうですか？」

* "How's the night shift? Are people coming in?"

「いやー、駄目だねー。一人面接来だけど、落としちゃったよ。白羽の件もあるしさ、次は使えるやつ雇わないと」

"Nah, it's not going well. Only one person came for an interview, but I had to reject them. With the Shiraha incident and all, we need to hire someone capable next time."

店長は、使える、という言葉をよく使うので、自分が使えるかタウ変えないか考えてしまう。使える道具になりたくて働いているのかもしれない。

The store manager often uses the word "usable," so I can't help but wonder if I'm usable or not. Maybe I'm working to become a useful tool.
