「あいつ最初からおかしかったよな。夕勤の女こ子にも、店の連絡網勝手に見て電話かけたり、パックルームで待ち構えて一緒に帰ろうとしたり。既婚者の泉さんにまで声かけてさー。その根性で仕事しろっつーんだよ。古倉さんも嫌だったでしょ？」
店長が言い、泉さんが顔をしがめる。
「ほんと、気持ち悪い。変態ですよ。あんな人。店員がだめだったらお客様にまで。本当に最低。逮捕されて欲しいですよ」
「いや。まだそこまではいってなかったからさ」
「犯罪ですよ。犯罪者。あんな人。さっさと捕まえてくれればいいのに」
文句を言いながらも、店の中にはどこかほっとした空気が流れていた。彼がいなくなったとこで、白羽さんが来る前の平和な店に戻り、皆は厄介者がいなくなってせいせいしたのか、奇妙に明るく饒舌だった。
「正直、イライラしてたんで、人手不足でもいないほうがいいですよ。」
出勤して話を聞いた菅原さんが笑った。
「あの人ほんとうに最悪でしたよね。言い訳がましくて、サボってること注意するとなんかいきなり縄文時代の話始めたりとか。頭おかしいですよ」

"That guy was weird from the start, wasn't he? He even called female coworkers during the evening shift without permission, waited in the back room, and tried to leave with them. He even approached married women like Izumi-san. Can you believe he had the nerve to tell us to work with that attitude? You didn't like him either, right, Furukura-san?"
店長が言い、泉さんが顔をしがめる。
The manager said, and Izumi-san frowned.
「ほんと、気持ち悪い。変態ですよ。あんな人。店員がだめだったらお客様にまで。本当に最低。逮捕されて欲しいですよ」
"Seriously, it's disgusting. He's a pervert. A guy like that. If employees are no good, he goes after customers. He's truly the worst. I hope he gets arrested."
「いや。まだそこまではいってなかったからさ」
"Well, he hasn't gone that far yet."
「犯罪ですよ。犯罪者。あんな人。さっさと捕まえてくれればいいのに」
"It's a crime, you know. A criminal. A guy like that. I wish they'd catch him already."
文句を言いながらも、店の中にはどこかほっとした空気が流れていた。
Despite complaining, there was a somewhat relieved atmosphere inside the store.
彼がいなくなったとこで、白羽さんが来る前の平和な店に戻り、皆は厄介者がいなくなってせいせいしたのか、奇妙に明るく饒舌だった。
With him gone, the store returned to its peaceful state before Shiraha-san arrived, and everyone seemed strangely cheerful and talkative.
「正直、イライラしてたんで、人手不足でもいないほうがいいですよ。」
"Honestly, I was getting irritated, so it's better without being short-staffed."
出勤して話を聞いた菅原さんが笑った。
Sugiwara-san, who came to work and heard the story, laughed.
「あの人ほんとうに最悪でしたよね。言い訳がましくて、サボってること注意するとなんかいきなり縄文時代の話始めたりとか。頭おかしいですよ」
"That guy was really the worst, wasn't he? He'd make excuses, and when you'd call him out for slacking off, he'd suddenly start talking about the Jomon period or something. He's insane."
