甥っ子は、病気でガラス越しに見たときとは別の生き物のように、人間らしい形に膨らんで、髪のても生えそろっていた。
私は紅茶、妹はノンカフェインのルイポステーを飲みながら、私が持って来たケーキを二人で食べた。
「美味しい。湯太郎がいるからなかなか外に出かけられなくて、こういうもの全然食べてなかったから」
「よかった」
「お姉ちゃんから、食べ物をもらうと、小さいころを思い出すなあ」
姉が少し照れくさそうに笑った。
甥っ子は眠っていて、頬に人差し指で触れると水ぶくれを撫でたような奇妙な柔らかさを感じた。
「湯太郎見てるとね、やっぱり動物なんだなって感じがする」
妹が嬉しそうに言う。甥っ子は身体が弱くて、すぐに熱を出すので妹はいつもかかりきりだ。赤ん坊にはよくあることで大丈夫だとわかっていても、高熱を出すと無ってしまうらしい。
「お姉ちゃんはどう？アルバイトは順調？」

* 「お姉ちゃんから、食べ物をもらうと、小さいころを思い出すなあ」 "When I receive food from you, big sis, it makes me nostalgic for our childhood."
* 姉が少し照れくさそうに笑った。 My sister smiled somewhat bashfully.
* 甥っ子は眠っていて、頬に人差し指で触れると水ぶくれを撫でたような奇妙な柔らかさを感じた。 My nephew was sleeping, and when I touched his cheek with my index finger, I felt a strange softness, like stroking a water blister.
* 「湯太郎見てるとね、やっぱり動物なんだなって感じがする」 "When I watch Yutaro, I still feel like he's an animal after all," my sister said happily.
* 妹が嬉しそうに言う。甥っ子は身体が弱くて、すぐに熱を出すので妹はいつもかかりきりだ。赤ん坊にはよくあることで大丈夫だとわかっていても、高熱を出すと無ってしまうらしい。 My sister said with a joyful expression. My nephew had a weak body and often developed a fever quickly, so my sister was always taking care of him. Even though it's common for babies to have a fever, it seemed to worry her.
