泉さんは茶髪を纏め、紺色のカットソーの上から白いシャツを着て、水色のネクタイを締めた。日色町駅前店がオープンした時にはこんなルールはなかったが、今のオーナーになってからは、必ず制服の下はシャツとネクタイと決まっている。泉さんが鏡の前で服装を整えていると、「おはようございます！」と菅原さんが、飛び込んできた。
菅原さんは２４歳のアルバイトで、声が大きい明るい子だ。パンドのポーカルをやっているらしく、ペリーショートのかみを本当は赤くしたいのだとばやいていた。少しぽっちゃyりとしていて愛嬌があるが、泉さんがきる前は遅刻も多かったし、ピアスをつくたまま働いて店長によく叱られていた。泉さんがサバサバとした調子で上手に叱って教育したおかげで、今では菅原さんも、すっかり真面目で仕事に熱い店員だ。
昼勤は他に、ひょろりと背が高い大学生の岩木くんと、就職先が決まってもうすぐ辞めてしまうフリーターの雪下くんがいる。岩木くんも就活で着られない日が増えるというので、店長が夜勤か戻ってくるか、新しい人を昼勤でとるかしないと、店が回らなくなってしまう。
今の「私」を形成しているのはほとんど私のそばにいる人たちだ。

It seems that Sugawara-san plays pachinko and poker, and was talking about wanting to dye their pixie-cut hair red.
少しぽっちゃyりとしていて愛嬌があるが、泉さんがきる前は遅刻も多かったし、ピアスをつくたまま働いて店長によく叱られていた。
They are slightly chubby and have a charming personality, but before Izumi-san took charge, they used to be late often and would work with earrings, which the manager scolded them for.
泉さんがサバサバとした調子で上手に叱って教育したおかげで、今では菅原さんも、すっかり真面目で仕事に熱い店員だ。
Thanks to Izumi-san's straightforward scolding and education, Sugawara-san has become quite a diligent and enthusiastic employee now.
昼勤は他に、ひょろりと背が高い大学生の岩木くんと、就職先が決まってもうすぐ辞めてしまうフリーターの雪下くんがいる。
For the day shift, there's also Iwaki-kun, a tall university student, and Yukishita-kun, a freeter who will soon quit as they have a job offer.
岩木くんも就活で着られない日が増えるというので、店長が夜勤か戻ってくるか、新しい人を昼勤でとるかしないと、店が回らなくなってしまう。
Iwaki-kun is also having more days he can't work due to job hunting, so unless the manager does night shifts or comes back, or they hire new day-shift staff, the store won't be able to function.
今の「私」を形成しているのはほとんど私のそばにいる人たちだ。
The people around me are largely shaping the current "me."
