本当はアルバイトは辞める一ヶ月前に言わなければならないが、事情があるという二週間で辞めさせてくれた。
私は二週間前のことを思い出した。「辞めさせてください」と言ったのに、店長はとても嬉しそうだった。
「あ、ついに！？白羽さんが男を見せたってこと？！」
バイトが辞めていくのは困る、人手不足なんだからつきを紹介して辞めてほしいといつも言っていた店長なのに、嬉ししそうだった。いや、もう店長なん人間はどこにもいないかもしれないかもしれない。目の前にいるのは人間のオスで、自分と同じ生き物が繁殖することを望んでいる。
突然辞める人はプロ意識に欠けるというも憤っていた泉さんも、「聞いたよー！」と祝福してくれた。
私は制服と脱ぎ、名札を外して、店長に渡した。
「それじゃあ。お世話になりました。」
「いやあ、寂しくなるよー！本当に渡れ」
１８年前勤めたというのに、最後はあっさりしたものだった。私の代わりに、レジでは（１４２）先週から入ったミャンマー人の女のこがバーコードをスキャンしている。

Technically, you're supposed to give notice one month in advance before quitting a part-time job, but they let me quit with just two weeks' notice due to my circumstances.

I remembered what happened two weeks ago. When I said, "Please let me quit," the store manager looked very pleased.
「あ、ついに！？白羽さんが男を見せたってこと？！」 "Oh, finally?! Is Shiraha-san trying to show some backbone?!"
バイトが辞めていくのは困る、人手不足なんだからつきを紹介して辞めてほしいといつも言っていた店長なのに、嬉ししそうだった。
Despite always saying that they didn't want part-timers to quit because they were short-staffed and asking us to refer friends, the store manager seemed delighted. Well, maybe the store manager was no longer human. The one in front of me was a human male, wishing for creatures like himself to reproduce.

Even Izumi-san, who had complained that people who quit suddenly lacked professionalism, said, "I heard about it!" and congratulated me.

１８年前勤めたというのに、最後はあっさりしたものだった。私の代わりに、レジでは先週から入ったミャンマー人の女のこがバーコードをスキャンしている。 Despite having worked here for 18 years, the end came quite easily. In my place, a young woman from Myanmar who had started last week was scanning barcodes at the cash register.
