白羽さんは義妹さんにまったく信用されてなかったんでなあ、としみじみ思った。
「本当に、あの、お金は絶対返します。。。」
白羽さんはうなだれている
「当然です。それで、この人とはどういう関係なんですか？」
義妹は私に視線をよこした。
「無職なのに同棲してるんですか？そんなことしてる服があったら、いい大人なんだからちゃんと就職してください」
「結婚を前提にお付き合いしています。僕は家のことをやって、彼女が働くことになっています。彼女の就職先が決まったら、お金はそこからお返しします。」
へえ、白羽さんに彼女がいたのか、と思ったが、昨日の妹と白羽さんのやりとりを思い出し、あ、自分のことを言われてるんだと気が付いた。
「そうなんですか？今はどんなお仕事されてるんですか？」
怪訝な顔で尋ねられ、「あ、ええと、コンビニエンスストアのアルバイトをしています」と答えた。
義妹さんの目と鼻と口ががばっと一斉に開いたのを見て、どこかで見たことがある顔だな、と思うと、義妹さんが唖然とした様子で叫んだ。

Shiraha-san thought deeply that his sister-in-law didn't trust him at all.
「本当に、あの、お金は絶対返します。。。」
"I really will absolutely pay back the money..."
白羽さんはうなだれている。
Shiraha-san hung his head.
「当然です。それで、この人とはどういう関係なんですか？」
"Of course. So, what kind of relationship do you have with this person?"
義妹は私に視線をよこした。
My sister-in-law glanced at me.
「無職なのに同棲してるんですか？そんなことしてる服があったら、いい大人なんだからちゃんと就職してください」
"You're unemployed but living together? If you're doing such things, you're an adult, so please get a proper job."
「結婚を前提にお付き合いしています。僕は家のことをやって、彼女が働くことになっています。彼女の就職先が決まったら、お金はそこからお返しします。」
"We're dating with marriage as the premise. I take care of the household, and she's supposed to work. When she gets a job, we'll repay the money from there."
へえ、白羽さんに彼女がいたのか、と思ったが、昨日の妹と白羽さんのやりとりを思い出し、あ、自分のことを言われてるんだと気が付いた。
"Oh, Shiraha-san has a girlfriend," I thought, but then I remembered yesterday's interaction between my sister and Shiraha-san, and I realized they were talking about me.
「そうなんですか？今はどんなお仕事されてるんですか？」
"Is that so? What kind of job are you doing now?"
怪訝な顔で尋ねられ、「あ、ええと、コンビニエンスストアのアルバイトをしています」と答えた。
Asked with a suspicious look, I answered, "Uh, well, I'm working part-time at a convenience store."
義妹さんの目と鼻と口ががばっと一斉に開いたのを見て、どこかで見たことがある顔だな、と思うと、義妹さんが唖然とした様子で叫んだ。
Seeing my sister-in-law's eyes, nose, and mouth all opening wide at once, I realized I'd seen that face somewhere before. My sister-in-law then shouted in disbelief.
