それを拭うこともせず、妹ははしゃいでいるような調子で白羽さんに怒り続けている。私は妹の鼻水を拭うことすらできず、食べかけのプリンをてにしたまま二人を見つめていた。
翌日、アルバイトから帰ると、玄関に赤い靴が置いてあった。また妹が来ているのか、まさか白羽さんが変人でも通れてきているのかと思いながら中に入ると、部屋の中英には正座している白羽さんと、テーブル越しに白羽さんを睨んでいる茶髪の女性がいた。
「あの。。。どちら様ですか？」
声をかけると、女性はきっとこちらを見上げた。まだ若い、メイクがきつめの女性だった。
「あなたが、今、この人と一緒に暮らしている方ですか？」
「はあ、そうですね」
「私、この人の弟の妻です。この人、ルームシェアの家賃滞納したまま逃亡して。携帯も繋がらないみたいで、北海道の実家にまで電話がかかってきたんですよ。

Without even wiping it away, my sister continued to scold Shiraha-san in a cheerful manner. I couldn't even wipe my sister's runny nose, and I just stared at the two of them while holding the partially eaten pudding.

The next day, when I returned from my part-time job, I found a pair of red shoes at the entrance. I wondered if my sister had come again or if some strange person had managed to get inside. When I entered, I saw Shiraha-san sitting in a formal posture in the room, and there was a brown-haired woman glaring at him from across the table.
「あの。。。どちら様ですか？」
"Um... may I ask who you are?"
声をかけると、女性はきっとこちらを見上げた。まだ若い、メイクがきつめの女性だった。
When I spoke, the woman surely looked up at me. She was a young woman with heavy makeup.
「あなたが、今、この人と一緒に暮らしている方ですか？」
"Are you currently living with this person?"
「はあ、そうですね」
"Yes, that's right."
「私、この人の弟の妻です。この人、ルームシェアの家賃滞納したまま逃亡して。携帯も繋がらないみたいで、北海道の実家にまで電話がかかってきたんですよ。」
"I'm this person's younger brother's wife. This person ran away without paying the rent for a room share. Their phone doesn’t connect and I even made calls to his family's home in Hokkaido."
