白羽さんのことはあっという間に店の中に広がり、店長からはしつこく、会うたびに「白羽くん元気？飲み会いつにする？」と言われるようになった。
８人目の店長は、仕事熱心なことろが尊敬できて、最高の同士だと思っていたのに、会えば白羽さんの話ばかりでうんざりしていた。
今までは、顔を合わせると、最近者クナってチョコレート様子の売り上げがいまいちだとか、近くに新しいマンションが出来たから夕方のお客さんが増えたとか、再来週の新商品はCMがすごく入るらしいから期待できるとか、そんな有意義な話を、コンビニ店員とコンビニ店長として真っ直ぐに交わしていたのに。店長の中で、私がコンビニ店員である以前に、人間のメスになってしまったという感覚だった。
「古倉さん、悩みとかあったらさ、俺が聞くよ！」
「そうそう、今度、古倉さんだけでも飲み会においでよ。本当は白羽さんが来てく（１２６）れればいいんだけどね！。私から活を入れ上げるのに！」

Shiraha-san's presence quickly spread throughout the store, and the store manager persistently started asking me whenever we met, "How's Shiraha-kun? When should we have a drinking party?"

The eighth store manager, whom I had respected for their dedication to work, had become a great companion in my eyes. However, every time we met, I grew tired of hearing only about Shiraha-san.

Until now, when we met, we would engage in meaningful conversations such as how the recent chocolate sales were a bit slow, how the evening customers increased because a new apartment complex was built nearby, or how the new product coming in two weeks is expected to have a lot of advertising on TV. As convenience store workers and store managers, we used to have straightforward discussions like that.
店長の中で、私がコンビニ店員である以前に、人間のメスになってしまったという感覚だった。
In the store manager's eyes, it felt like I had become a female human before being a convenience store worker.
「古倉さん、悩みとかあったらさ、俺が聞くよ！」
"Furukura-san, if you ever have worries or anything, I'll listen!"
「そうそう、今度、古倉さんだけでも飲み会においでよ。本当は白羽さんが来てく（１２６）れればいいんだけどね！。私から活を入れ上げるのに！」
"Yeah, yeah, next time, just Furukura-san should come to the drinking party. Ideally, Shiraha-san would come too! I'd liven things up!"
