家に白羽さんがいると都合がいい。そう思うのに時間はかからなかった。
妹の次に白羽さんのことを話したのは、ミホの家に集まったときだった。皆で集まってケーキを食べながら、私は、家に白羽さんがいることをさりげなく口にした。
皆の狂喜乱舞は、頭がおかしくなったのだろうかと思ほどだった。
「え、なに、いつから？いつから？」
「どんな人？」
「よかったねえええ！、私、心配してたんだよ、恵子はどうなるのかなって。。。本当によかった！」
皆の勢いを不気味に思いながら、「ありがとう」とだけ口にした。
「ねえねね、仕事は？何やってる人なの？」
「何もしてない。起業するのが夢だって言っていたけど、口だけみたい。家でゴロゴロしてる」
皆、表情を変えて、身を乗り出して私の話を聞きだした。
「いるいる、そういう男。。。でもそういう人ほど、妙にマメだったり優しかtたりして、魅力的だったりするんだよね。友達も、何がいいんっだろうと思うんだけどやっぱ（１１３）りそういう人にハマっちゃって」

It's convenient to have Shiraha-san at home. I didn't take long to think that.

While we all gathered and ate cake, I casually mentioned that Shiraha-san was at home.

Everyone's ecstatic reactions made me wonder if they had gone mad.
「え、なに、いつから？いつから？」
"Eh, what? Since when? Since when?"
「どんな人？」
"What kind of person?"
「よかったねえええ！、私、心配してたんだよ、恵子はどうなるのかなって。。。本当によかった！」
"That's great! I was worried, you know? Wondered what would happen to Keiko... Really, it's great!"
皆の勢いを不気味に思いながら、「ありがとう」とだけ口にした。
While feeling uneasy about everyone's enthusiasm, I only said, "Thank you."
「ねえねね、仕事は？何やってる人なの？ 」
"Hey, hey, what about work? What kind of person is he?"
「何もしてない。起業するのが夢だって言っていたけど、口だけみたい。家でゴロゴロしてる」
"He's not doing anything. He used to say that starting a business was his dream, but it seems like he's all talk. He's just lazing around at home."
皆、表情を変えて、身を乗り出して私の話を聞きだした。
Everyone changed their expressions, leaned forward, and started listening intently to my story.
「いるいる、そういう男。。。でもそういう人ほど、妙にマメだったり優しかったりして、魅力的だったりするんだよね。友達も、何がいいんっだろうと思うんだけどやっぱりそういう人にハマっちゃって」
"Oh, yeah, those kinds of guys... But strangely, people like that can be unexpectedly diligent and kind, and that makes them attractive. Even my friends wonder what's good about them, but they end up falling for such people."
