「はあ」
私はヘコ缶の入った紙袋の中からチョコレートメロンサイダーを取り出し、白羽さんに渡した。
「あの、それで、白羽さん側には何のメリットが？」
白羽さんはしばらく黙ったあと、ちさな声で言った。
「僕を隠してほしい」
「は？」
「僕を世界から隠してほしんだ。僕の存在を利用して、口ではいくらでも広めてくれてかまわない。僕自身は、ずっとおことに隠れていたい。もう赤の他人に干渉されるのはうんざりなんだ」
白羽さんは俯いてチョコレっとメロンサイダーを啜った。
「外に出たら、僕の人生はまた強姦される。男なら働け、結婚しろ、結婚をしたならもっと稼げ、子供を作れ。むらの奴隷だ。一生働くように世界から命令されている。僕の清掃すら、村のものなんだ。セックスの経験がないだけで、精子の無駄遣いをしているように扱われる。

"Well, you and I have aligned interests, so it's fine for us to stay here like this."
私はヘコ缶の入った紙袋の中からチョコレートメロンサイダーを取り出し、白羽さんに渡した。
I took out a chocolate melon soda from the paper bag with the crushed cans and handed it to Shiraha-san.
「あの、それで、白羽さん側には何のメリットが？」
"Um, so what's the benefit for you, Shiraha-san?"
白羽さんはしばらく黙ったあと、ちさな声で言った。
After a short silence, Shiraha-san said in a low voice.
「僕を隠してほしい」
"I want you to hide me."
「は？」
"Huh?"
「僕を世界から隠してほしんだ。僕の存在を利用して、口ではいくらでも広めてくれてかまわない。僕自身は、ずっとおことに隠れていたい。もう赤の他人に干渉されるのはうんざりなんだ」
"I want you to hide me from the world. You can use my existence to spread the word as much as you want. I, myself, just want to stay hidden forever. I'm tired of being interfered with by strangers."
白羽さんは俯いてチョコレットメロンサイダーを啜った。
Shiraha-san lowered his head and sipped the chocolate melon soda.
「外に出たら、僕の人生はまた強姦される。男なら働け、結婚しろ、結婚をしたならもっと稼げ、子供を作れ。むらの奴隷だ。一生働くように世界から命令されている。僕の清掃すら、村のものなんだ。セックスの経験がないだけで、精子の無駄遣いをしているように扱われる。」
"If I go outside, my life will be violated again. If you're a man, work, get married, earn more after marriage, and have children. You're a slave to the village. You're ordered by the world to work for your entire life. Even my cleaning belongs to the village. Just because I don't have sexual experience, I'm treated as if I'm wasting sperm."
