白羽さんは何日お風呂に入っていなかったのかわからないが、脱ぎ捨てた付着と洋服からは異臭がした。とりあえず洗濯機に突っ込んで「適当に座っていいですよ」と声をかけると、白羽さんはおずおずと部屋に座った。
小さな和室で、古い造りなので風呂とトイレは別になっている。換気があまりよくないので、白羽さんの入った後の風呂場のドアから、湿気と湯気がむわりと部屋に立ちんこめていた。
「ちょっと部屋が暑いですね。窓開けますか？」
「あ、いや」
白羽さんは何だかソワソワと、立ち上がりかけたり、座りなおしたりしていた。
「トイレならそっちです。少し流れか悪いですが、大の方にめいっぱいレバーを回してください」
「あの、トイレは別にいいです」
「とりあえず、行くところがないんですよね。ルームシェアの部屋も半分追い出されかかってるんですもんね」

Shiraha-san hesitantly sat down in the room.

It was a small Japanese-style room, and because it was an old building, the bathroom and toilet were separate. Since the ventilation wasn't great, moisture and steam were wafting into the room from the bathroom door after Shiraha-san had entered.
「ちょっと部屋が暑いですね。窓開けますか？」
「あ、いや」
"It's a bit warm in the room, isn't it? Should I open the window?"
"No, it's okay."

Shiraha-san seemed restless, standing up and sitting down repeatedly.
"If you need to use the restroom, it's over there. The flush isn't working well, but for the big one, please turn the lever as much as you can."
"Oh, well, I'm okay with not using the restroom."
"Well, you don't really have anywhere else to go right now. Your room share is almost being taken away, right?"
