We also dive deep into our survey we released this week and go into some of the finer details behind why we ranked what we ranked. E

It's officially the first Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 podcast of the offseason. And one NFL job after another continues to fill up. There's only one job left to be filled that still has people bringing up Lincoln Riley's name, the Cleveland Browns. The gang is not to worried. What do the boys think about the Baylor opening? What hire could be good for Baylor but bad for OU? People are getting their hopes up for staff changes this offseason, so we talk about how Riley might handle things there. And what do we think should happen with staff changes? U40: Clearing up the QB confusion, defensive recruiting picking up steam

E

Seems like it's been a while, but the full gang is back as Josh joins us from the exotic location of north Oklahoma City as he and the family and Linda are traveling for the post holiday holidays. Josh breaks down his trips to Orlando and San Antonio for All-American practices. Are the Sooners still in good shape with Reggie Grimes and Alfred Collins? What to make out of Chandler Morris' commitment and signing. Surely this shuts down all the buzz about Lincoln Riley's future for a little bit anyway? And what went wrong with Brock Vandagriff? The transfer market might be on the verge of gifting the Sooners a new wide receiver as well. We take a look at the roster as we head into the offseason and the quarterback competition that should still include Tanner Mordecai this spring. The full rundown follows below (Eddie version): 0:00 -- It's been an interesting week 4:51 -- "Chandler Morris is one of the most accurate QB I've ever coached against" 10:00 -- Brock Vandagriff fallout 24:48 -- Josh's thoughts on the end of the Jalen Hurts era 33:27 -- All-Star game wrap up (Reggie Grimes, Alfred Collins, etc) 47:00 -- State of the program 1:04:00 -- Grad transfer market for Oklahoma? We breakdown the class signed by Lincoln Riley and the Sooners Wednesday and talk about nuking his signing day press conference with our news about suspensions. What stood out about this class? U40: Twists and turns heading to signing day? OU vs. LSU. We're set

E

Oklahoma is set for the playoffs, that much we know. But before that, we have national signing day coming up Dec. 18 and the Sooners are looking to close strong. It started last night with some late night eyeball emojis from Lincoln Riley. We also have some potential drama developing with one of OU's longest commitments. The numbers are tight for the Sooners even with former targets coming on the market late. How will Riley and the Sooners manage it. We also get into some awards circuit talk with CeeDee Lamb hoping to bring up a Biletnikoff Award and Jalen Hurts travels to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. We also talk a little LSU preview and go back a bit to look at the Big 12 Championship game. U40: It's time for a rematch. Jim Mora, embrace the disaster.

E

The College Football Playoff committee met and deliberated for hours and could only come up with Utah's strength of Friday night losses to third string quarterbacks from USC. So yep, the Sooners didn't pass the Utes in the next-to-last rankings. But, OU still has to beat Baylor to have any chance in this thing, regardless of what happens Friday night in the Pac-12 Championship. We get our angst out on the committee and we even give an apology to Heather Dinich for also trying to get Rob Mullens to actually say why Utah is ranked ahead of OU on the teleconference. Will Parnell Motley's Bedlam performance inspire others to take over as one-man wrecking crews against Baylor Saturday morning? How will the first matchup affect the second matchup? We'll hear from Alex Grinch on that as well as some fine conversational overcussing from Ronnie Perkins from Monday night. We also dialed into the recruiting game and hit up Josh for the latest on recruiting as national signing day is coming up Dec. 18. It's the Unofficial 40 brought to you by MidFirst Bank. The rundown follows below: 00:00 - Opener 03:30 - College Football Playoff Rankings 18:00 - Coaching Carousel Craziness 22:00 - Conference Championships 45:00 - Big 12 Championship; Baylor rematch 1:00:00 - Still talkin Sooners and emergence of OU's run game 1:17:40 - Eddie denies family talk; Let's talk recruiting 1:29:13 - Michael Thompson Jr departure; how do the schollies breakdown? U40: Bedlam is coming. Will good Jalen or bad Jalen be joining them?

E

The Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 Bedlam edition is here and we're ready for the regular season finale in Stillwater. The Sooners head to Oklahoma State after being revealed as the No. 7 team in the College Football Playoff rankings. But there's still that pesky problem of turnovers hanging over this OU team as they head into enemy territory. How will this OU defense fare against Chuba Hubbard. Will the loss of Spencer Sanders play that big of a role Saturday? It was a huge pod for recruiting information too as the Sooners picked up a commitment in the middle of the pod. Which also meant they lost a commitment in the middle of the pod. The pod will explain that weirdness. The gang is ready for Bedlam, but also a full slate of games in the DFW metro area that we're going to be covering this weekend. Also some turkey talk and Josh's daughter decides she wants to join the podcast at one point. Happy Thanksgiving everybody! The full, Eddie approved rundown follows below: 00:00 - Hello and welcome. U40: Is there a path to the playoffs for OU? TCU is next

E

After the Sooners take down Baylor it's time to trek on to Week 11 and TCU. The Sooners are trying to play their way into the College Football Playoffs and Eddie says don't fear OU fans, everything will work out. Huh? We also talk about CeeDee Lamb's situation and all the rumors flying around. Not that Lincoln is hiding anything, but he doesn't do himself any favors with these conspiracy theories by being so tight-lipped on everything concerning injuries. We hit on a little bit of hoops and we talk about OU's last gameday recruiting weekend this season. What should you expect from potential visitors? Lots of weirdness in this pod as well. Eddie was on one today. The full Eddie rundown follows below: 00:00 - Opener 3:00 - Oh God. We are getting old. 7:15 - OU hoops 10:14 - LETS FOOTBALL. U40: The one thing OU fans agree on? We all have lots of questions.

E

To say it's tough being an OU football fan over the past few weeks is an understatement. What are we even mad at right now? Fan's leaving early? Lincoln Riley's playcalling? Jalen Hurts' turnovers? Florida State wanting Bob Stoops? The playoff committee? I think the thing that's bringing everyone together is our feeling that maybe OU doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs right now. Can they turn things around at Baylor? Does this team have a complete game in them? If they do, will it be enough? I changed my mind. The one thing that is bringing OU fans together right now is that we all have so many questions about this program and this season right now. Where to start? Where to begin? Start with the MidFirst Bank Unofficial 40 podcast. The whole gang is here to walk you through it. The full rundown provided by Eddie follows: 00:00 - Welcome, welcome intro 3:00 - College Football Playoff 14:00 - Alright, let's talk about ... U40: Jalen Hurts and Bob Stoops make it a crazy 48 hours

E

What an interesting last few days it's been around the Scoop offices. Eddie trolls the Internet without actually doing it himself. We talk about the crazy out of context battle for the press conference future of Jalen Hurts and media at large. We also talk about how Bob Stoops somehow almost became the next head coach at Florida State but actually never did. Plenty of fired up participants in today's podcast. The first College Football Playoff rankings have been released. We talk about the path for the Sooners if they want to make it back to the CFB Playoffs. Also, huge basketball recruiting news is ready to come down next week and Josh McCuistion previews the upcoming weekend from a recruiting perspective. U40: Bye Week means a long look in the mirror. NCAA ready to pay for play?

E

On this episode of the Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 Podcast, the gang recaps Lincoln Riley's bye week media press conference from yesterday. We talk about the issues facing the Sooners moving forward as well as an outlook that doesn't look nearly as dire as it did right after the loss to Kansas State. It's a big recruiting week for the Sooners as Josh and Bob talk about the early signing day schedule and how it makes life more difficult for the Sooners if they are chasing another Big 12 title. We also talk about the NCAA and what appears to be a willingness to allow players to make money of their name, likeness and image. But how is all that going to work? Lots of stuff to get through even on a bye week. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 -- Opening Statement 3:53 -- Josh weighs in on Manhattan disaster 7:05 -- Okay, let's open it up to the crew/more thoughts from Manhattan 19:35 -- Handling of the onside kick/Big 12 is dumb 24:46 -- Are you interested in a little College Football Playoff talk 28:50 -- Texas LOL 32:17 -- BYE week; how are they going to handle this? 34:00 -- Everyone stop down one time for Gabe Brkic 37:05 -- Good time for a BYE week? U40: K-State on the road. So why are we trying to kill each other today?

E

It started out as a regular podcast. We're headed to Manhattan to watch the 7-0 Sooners take on Kansas State as a heavy favorite. We're always looking for a letdown after such a successful season to this point. With the bye week looming and Baylor on the other side, we breakdown where we see the Sooners heading into the weekend. Plenty of talk about where OU sits in the national playoff landscape and we have one of our biggest podcast fights in recent memory. We also hit the recruiting trail and talk about OU's official visitors this weekend as well as an upcoming trip to see Dontae Manning this weekend. News on Lon Kruger hosting Bryce Thompson this weekend as well. U40: Friday Night Under the Lights is huge success for OU and Jalen Hurts

E

No one knew exactly how this was gonna go after OU had to move up their annual spring game from Saturday afternoon to Friday evening. But the announced attendance of 50,228 showed the evening was a big success. Jalen Hurts had a successful evening running the OU offense under the careful eye of the public for the first time. Alex Grinch was low on bodies defensively and several key players were missing on both sides of the ball. It still ended up being a great night for fans, players and potentially recruits. Plus, we give our stock report and Bob Przybylo gives us a recruiting update and what to expect moving forward. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
