Should Kris Knoblauch look to keep him there permanently? Additionally, Cody Ceci had another difficult night. It might be time to move on from him if Chris Tanev is a real option for this team. With the number one player now off the market, how does this affect the Edmonton Oilers trade deadline plans? Reports are coming out that the Oilers have shown interest in Anaheim Ducks forward Adam Henrique. Henrique has almost 900 games played in the NHL and would add plenty of depth to an already deep centre group in Edmonton.Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will give their thoughts on the possibility of adding a Henrique along with reviewing the big trade between the two Pacific Division rivals live on Oilersnation Everyday. Jay Downton will jump on the show too giving his thoughts on the trade and the festivities around NHL All Star weekend. Yesterday, it was made official that Corey Perry is the newest member of the Edmonton Oilers. However, don't expect to see him in the lineup tonight against the Blue Jackets. S2 Ep 302Edmonton comes from behind to beat Seattle

The Edmonton Oilers extended their win streak to 12 last night with a 4-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken. However, they didn't make it easy on themselves allowing the Kraken get ahead 2-0 after 20 minutes of play. The fight back started with a timely goal from Warren Foegele scoring less than 30 seconds into the second period. Later on, Foegele scored again this time on a breakaway for his 9th of the season. Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman got in on the action, too, giving the Oilers a 4-2 victory and their 12th win in a row.Beside the come back, the other headline came late in the game. After getting frustrated from a miscall, Yanni Gourde let emotions get the best of him and laid a huge hit on Mattias Ekholm, making contact with the head. In replays, you could see Gourde left his feet to make the hit which resulted in a five-minute major for charging. Today, news broke that Gourde now has a hearing with the department of player safety. What did you think of the hit and now the potential punishment? The Edmonton Oilers continue to surprise us all. Last night, despite being down 2-0, the Oilers clawed their way back beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2. That victory extends the win streak to 11 with the Seattle Kraken next on the Oilers hit list. The atmosphere was electric inside Rogers Place with Oilers and Leafs fans cheering on their teams from the opening puck drop until the final buzzer. Toronto had the first celebration of the night after Austin Matthews scored his league leading 34th goal on the first shot of the game. The Oilers put the pressure on but Toronto made it 2-0 midway through the second from Morgan Rielly. However, that didn't matter because Edmonton didn't go away with goals from Leon Draisaitl and Derek Ryan before Ryan McLeod scored the game winner late in the third period. It was an outstanding game for the Oilers which was back stopped by another excellent performance from Stuart Skinner. Skinner stopped 25 shots for a save percentage of .925. Tonight, the Oilers get an opportunity to continue that streak when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at Rogers Place. S2 Ep 298Ten wins in a row!

The Edmonton Oilers set a franchise record on Saturday night with their tenth win in a row. Samuel Montembeault did everything in his power to prevent the Oilers from beating the Montreal Canadiens, but a Evan Bouchard slap shot in overtime hit the post and then Montembeault to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead. With the win, Edmonton now sits only one point behind the Los Angeles Kings, who are third in the Pacific Division. Fortunately for the Oilers, while they have been winning, the Kings and Vegas Golden Knights are two of the coldest teams in the NHL. The Kings have won only two of their last ten and the Golden Knights have only three wins in that period too.The gap is tightened and with the three more games on the schedule this week, the Edmonton Oilers have a great opportunity to make their way back into the conversation.Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin go live today for Oilersnation Everyday at noon on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. S2 Ep 297Oilers win nine in a row & Mark Spector joins the show

The Edmonton Oilers grabbed their ninth win a row last night versus the Detroit Red Wings but it didn't come with ease. Detroit's goaltender, Alex Lyon put on a great display stopping 44 shots in what finished a 3-2 overtime win for Edmonton. The game was scoreless heading into the third period but it wasn't long before Andrew Copp broke the deadlock for the Red Wings. The Oilers did challenge the goal for goaltender interference after Christian Fischer made contact with Calvin Pickard's glove; however, it was deemed a good goal after Pickard was considered out of the blue paint. Fans on social media didn't like the challenge from Kris Knoblauch, especially after the Oilers didn't challenge the no-goal from Zach Hyman versus Chicago.Edmonton gave themselves a 2-1 lead with goals from Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman but the Red Wings scored one more to tie the game up at two a piece. Evander Kane thought he had a game winner with nine seconds left; however, it was disallowed after replays proved Derek Ryan made the pass with his hand. S2 Ep 293How long can the streak last?

It was an unexpected goaltending duel on Saturday night between the Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators. Up until late in the second period, neither team could find a way past Stuart Skinner or Anton Forsberg. Between them, they made 72 saves in what finished with the Oilers winning 3-1. Offensively, Zach Hyman was the hero for Edmonton. The Oilers forward scored his third hat trick of the season to take his goal tally to 25 on the year. Along with Hyman, Evan Bouchard had a three point game, all assists, and Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each got assists in the win. With that 3-1 victory, the Oilers move into a playoff spot ahead of the St Louis Blues with both teams sitting at 41 points. Every night we all expect something special from Connor McDavid and even when he pulls it off we are still all amazed. The Oilers star forward had a point on every goal in last nights 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. First, he got the scoring started with his 14th of the season putting Travis Sanheim to the ice in the process. He followed that up with assists on the next four from Zach Hyman, Leon Draisaitl and two from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. McDavid was excellent last night but so was Stuart Skinner between the pipes. After blowing a 2-0 lead heading into the third period, the Oilers scored four goals in the final frame to take home a 6-3 win over New Jersey. While it was Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl that got the scoring started in the third, it was a couple of unsuspecting heroes that added the insurance goals. Adam Erne scored his first of the season in Oilers colours dangling the Devils goaltender to make it 5-3. Shortly after, Ryan McLeod scored his second of the game to take his tally to four on the season. It was a much needed win for the Oilers, who ended a three game losing streak. Tonight, Edmonton have an opportunity to get back to .500 with a win over the New York Rangers. The Rangers and Oilers meet earlier in the season and it didn't go well for Edmonton. However, the offence dried up drastically the rest of the way as they eventually lost 3-1. Special teams were the real killer for the Oilers. The penalty kill allowed two goals against and the powerplay solved nothing even allowing a shorthanded goal. The Devils have a 16-12-2 but have a 2-2-1 record in their last five games. Most recently, they dropped a 3-2 decision versus the Philadelphia Flyers and before that lost 5-1 to the Anaheim Ducks. Despite the results, New Jersey cannot be underestimated with the fire power they have in Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt and Timo Meier. To help you prepare for this evenings matchup against the Devils. S2 Ep 284Special teams fail the Oilers versus the Islanders

The Edmonton Oilers lost their third game in a row last night, dropping a 3-1 decision versus the New York Islanders.Edmonton took the lead on the team's first shot of the game from Leon Draisaitl, which was only his second 5-on-5 goal in his last 15 games. Unfortunately, the Oilers couldn't build from that moment but did go into the first intermission with a one-goal lead. Going into the game, they had a 10-1-1 in games where they lead after one; however, that wouldn't be the case last night.Three goals from the Islanders in the second were the nail in the coffin for Edmonton. Andres Lee scored the first on the powerplay, shortly followed by another man-advantage goal from Bo Horvat, who extended his point streak to 11. The scoring was finished off shorthanded by Simon Holmstrom. It wasn't pretty by the Oilers, but it was not all doom and gloom. To help you all recover and vent from last night's loss, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin go live at noon for Oilersnation every day on the Oilersnation YouTube channel. S2 Ep 283A vital road trip begins

The Edmonton Oilers head to the state of New York for a three game trip before their Christmas break. That trip begins tonight when they face off in Long Island against the New York Islanders. The Oilers and Islanders have gone head-to-head once already this season. That matchup was Kris Knoblauch's first as the head coach of Edmonton, following Jay Woodcroft's dismal, and the Oilers won that game 4-1. Mathew Barzal opened the scoring, but the Oilers responded with four unanswered goals from Leon Draisaitl, Connor McDavid, Zach Hyman, and Evander Kane. Since then, the Oilers are 9-5-0 but have lost their last two games. The Islanders have an 8-3-6 record on home ice this season. They have secured at least a point in their last eight home games, winning five. The last time they lost at home was November 11th versus the Washington Capitals when Alexander Ovechkin scored twice. Getting back on track before Christmas is vital for the Oilers. To help you get set up for the action on the ice, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin go live at noon for Oilersnation Everyday. Since it is a game, Jay Downton joins the show for a Sherwood Ford GIANT Pre-Game show edition of Oilersnation Everyday. If you have something to contribute to the conversation, head to the Oilersnation YouTube at noon.
