In the Old Testament book of Numbers we find a statement which has often been used as a prayer for people who are about to end their earthly life. It is found in Numbers 23, verse 10: "Let me die the death of the righteous..." These words were spoken by a man named Balaam, who was a rather strange individual, as we shall see today. Was his prayer answered? Well, not exactly; in fact, not at all. It is an interesting story, and our prayer is that we all may learn a lesson from God through the tragedy of this man's life/
