The Unpardonable Sin

Pastor Mike explores the complex and often anxiety-inducing topic of the "unpardonable sin," otherwise known as the "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit". Drawing from Luke 12, Mike explains that while all manner of sins—including those committed by individuals like David, Paul, and Peter—can be forgiven through Christ, this specific sin involves a persistent and obstinate rejection of God’s truth . He clarifies the historical context, noting that the Pharisees committed this offense by attributing Jesus' undeniable miracles to the power of Beelzebub rather than the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, the episode serves to reassure believers that those who are truly saved are "sealed" by the Spirit and cannot lose their salvation, distinguishing between a Christian's daily struggle with sin and the definitive, slanderous rejection of the Messiah .

The Promise Keeper

Pastor Mike explores the profound contrast between the broken oaths of human leaders and the unwavering faithfulness of God. Using Luke 12 as a guide, he delves into the specific promises of Jesus, emphasizing the "eternal perspective" that should guide a believer’s life on earth. The discussion centers on the "warm encouragement" found in Jesus' promise to acknowledge His followers before the angels and the Father, an assurance meant to provide comfort and courage in the face of persecution and daily hardships. Mike concludes that while the world is "littered" with failed vows, every promise of God finds its certain "Yes" in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Jaime Owens Interview

Jaime grew up in small-town Massachusetts. Having grown up a nominal Roman Catholic, Jaime had little interest in God beyond maintaining a veneer of morality, which he often cast off at his own convenience. By God’s grace, while in college, Jaime was born again while hearing a sermon on Luke 15. Upon graduation, Jaime served as a police officer, but after three years, though he loved the work, he resigned and moved to Louisville, Kentucky to pursue a Master of Divinity. During his studies, he met Dr. Mark Dever, Senior Pastor at Capitol Hill Baptist Church, and moved to Washington, DC to be an intern and serve as Mark’s personal assistant for the next two years. After this time, he moved to Providence, RI and served as Associate Pastor at Grace Harbor Church for the next year and a half. Jaime was called to be Senior Pastor of Tremont Temple in April of 2017.

He is married to Adriana and is daddy to Mercy, Audrey, Jack, and Noah. Jaime holds a B.S. from Bridgewater State University in Criminal Justice, an M.Div from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Th.M with a focus on preaching from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Jaime also serves as an adjunct professor in the Biblical and Religious Studies program at Sattler College in Boston.

Jaime’s interests include history and literature, woodworking, a bit of surfing, daily hand grinding his pour over coffee with the help of Jack and Noah, running and barbell training, and short family adventures.

Marrio shares a candid testimony of his upbringing in Worcester and his past immersion in hip-hop culture before the Lord drew him to salvation. He details how the persistent, genuine witnessing of a supervisor and the study of the Gospel of Matthew—specifically Jesus' confrontation with the Pharisees—exposed his own unrighteousness and led to a profound conversion.

The episode begins with a "Kooks and Barney's" segment critiquing the teaching style of Steven Furtick before transitioning into a deep theological reflection on why the message of a crucified Messiah is inherently offensive to human pride. Drawing from the New Testament, Mike contrasts the worldly search for signs and wisdom with the "folly" of the cross, which remains the power of God for salvation. The discussion serves as a call to return to Christ-centered theology over man-centered prosperity. Watch on YouTube.

Pastor Mike addresses a range of theological topics, from modern mysticism to historical book reviews. He critiques the rise of biblical numerology and self-appointed apostles through his "Kooks and Barney's Award," specifically refuting the idea that specific times like "5:55" hold prophetic power. Mike recommends Ian Murray’s *The Forgotten Spurgeon* as essential reading for those exploring the doctrines of grace and highlights the translational failures of “The Message” paraphrase . The discussion also clarifies the distinction between Protestant and Roman Catholic views on justification before concluding with a warning against spiritual deception regarding unrepentant lifestyles and the denial of the resurrection.

Pastor Mike introduces Austin Hobbs, the new assistant pastor at Bethlehem Bible Church, following his recent graduation from Reformed Theological Seminary. Austin shares his personal testimony, describing his transition from a moralistic church background to a deep, grace-centered understanding of the gospel. He also explains the value of his philosophy degree for ministry, noting that it helps Christians analyze worldviews and understand their objective purpose within "God's two books"—Scripture and nature. Finally, the duo discusses a shared philosophy of preaching that emphasizes verse-by-verse exposition while consistently exalting Christ as the source of assurance and power for both the lost and the saved.

In this episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike and his son, Luke, transition from their previous discussions on family life and current events to focus deeply on the theology and practice of preaching . The conversation centers on Jesus Christ as the "Prince of Preachers" and explores His "prophetic office"—one part of the threefold office of prophet, priest, and king. Mike and Luke discuss the distinctions between preaching and teaching, suggesting that while teaching may focus on technical exegesis, preaching is a special, ordained act intended to give Christ to people burdened by sin and trials . They also provide guidance on how congregants should evaluate a church, urging listeners to prioritize the "three marks" of a true church—faithful preaching of the gospel, proper administration of the sacraments, and church discipline—over secondary factors like musical style or facility amenities . The episode concludes with a reflection on the ultimate purpose of ministry: consistently revealing the "glories of Christ" to the congregation .

In this episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike and Luke Abendroth shift their focus to a "rapid-fire" analysis of current trends and controversies within modern evangelicalism. They critique recent theological shifts, such as Kirk Cameron’s move toward annihilationism, and discuss the complexities of Protestants utilizing the works of Thomas Aquinas. The conversation also addresses concerns regarding the popular teachings of John Comer, the decline of "celebrity Christianity," and the rise of Christian nationalism among young believers. Ultimately, the hosts advocate for a return to robust confessionalism and the primacy of the local church as the essential foundation for navigating contemporary theological challenges.

Pastor Mike is joined again by his son, Pastor Luke, to discuss the realities of living in a pastor’s household from both the father's and son's perspectives. Luke, who now serves as a pastor at Redemption Church North County in Carlsbad, reflects on how his father maintained a "normal" family environment while instilling a strong sense of family identity and the responsibility of representing their name. The discussion emphasizes that a pastor’s home should mirror any other godly Christian home, highlighting the importance of making the Bible engaging for children through creative family worship and acknowledging the validity of masculine emotion. Through a blend of humorous anecdotes—such as Luke being accidentally left at church—and theological reflections on parental relationships with God, the episode explores how grace and love should drive family obedience.

In this episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike is joined by his son, Luke Abendroth, to provide a "behind the scenes" look at life within a pastor’s home. Luke, who now serves as a pastor himself at Redemption Church North County, reflects on his upbringing, noting that while his father aimed to keep their home life "normal," there was an inherent sense of family identity and responsibility that influenced his conduct. The duo explores the importance of making family worship engaging through creative storytelling and props, while also discussing the balance of grace-driven obedience and the validity of masculine emotion in the Christian life. Ultimately, they emphasize that a pastor’s household should mirror the godly standards expected of every Christian family, built on a foundation of love and communion rather than legalism.

In this episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike begins with a prayer focus on the phrase "Thy Kingdom Come," which he interprets as a battle cry for the return of Jesus and the destruction of Satan’s earthly kingdom. He critiques the use of popular Christian cliches and the "Message" bible paraphrase, arguing that such paraphrases can water down biblical definitions of sin. After distinguishing the Protestant doctrine of justification by faith from Roman Catholic views on transformation, the episode concludes with a primary teaching on miracles. Pastor Mike argues that biblical miracles were spectacular and undeniable events designed specifically to authenticate the messenger and the message during key redemptive eras, rather than being standard experiences for the modern day.

In this episode of No-Co Radio, Pastor Mike centers on the importance of the Lord’s Prayer, specifically focusing on the holiness of God’s name and the distinction between judicial and parental forgiveness. Mike critiques modern spiritual trends by awarding John Eldridge a "Kooks and Barneys" award for his book “Beautiful Outlaw”, while recommending John Murray’s “The Imputation of Adam’s Sin” as a foundational theological resource. He concludes with a segment on spiritual maturity, warning listeners against prioritizing subjective experiences over the proclamation of Christ and the formal means of grace provided in the church.
