Karl writes about himself: “I was and still am influenced by Gurdjieff and the 4th way teachings. Based on those ideas, in conjunction with my experiences, I was moved to start an intentional community – communes as they were called back then – as part of my vision that living together cooperatively was a solution to the dysfunctions of society that I could implement. From that experiment I realized that I didn't understand people or know myself, and that I needed help. So I went on a journey which eventually brought me to the Help I needed. That Help triggered my second STE. It also led me to marriage, a family, becoming a carpenter and contractor, and living in a spiritual community."

In John's own words, "When I had my NDE, I bypassed the white light and tunnel completely and went right to the other side. I was given a tour of some of the activities we do there and saw great marble buildings and great halls. I saw an orientation center for what happens after we cross into the light and how there are counselors there to help us remember that we just finished a lifetime and have crossed back home"

Even though he came from a loving home and was raised going to church, Victor had only read of God’s love. Nothing in his religious upbringing could prepare him for the revelation that he would be given in his brush with eternity. I suppose some people are harder to reach than others. Maybe that’s why it took an experience of near death to give this hard-headed author new life.
