Jade Rolling, Manifesting & Community Ft Satchel Lee

A creative career felt pretty inevitable for Satchel. As the daughter of producer Tonya Lewis Lee and director Spike Lee, Satchel has always had a great appreciation for storytelling but she's already carving out a distinct voice of her own. With exclusive interviews from artists like Billie Eilish, Amandla Stenberg, and Ashton Sanders, DRØME is well on it’s way to becoming THE alternative magazine for Gen-Z. You Can’t Flex On Me Luv, I’m Proud of You ft. Kimberly Drew

Over the past 7 years, writer and curator Kimberly Drew has unabashedly made a name for herself within the world of art and fashion. She’s already interviewed icons like Lupita Nyong'o, and Tina Lawson. She’s served bold looks on the runways of Chromat, and Collina Strada. Looking back on her career, Drew notes that “if I had come in with less love [for art], I wouldn’t have been as successful.” That love first began in her hometown of Orange, New Jersey- a community that Kimberly describes as “culturally rich”. It then carried her to Smith College, where she studied African American Studies and Art History. Grown Women Talk ft Angela Yee

This episode was surreal for me because I’ve listened to Angela Yee on the radio for over a decade. When it comes to representing hip hop and the culture, Yee has been, and continues to be one of the best radio hosts in the game. Growing up, Yee was a self-proclaimed “terror” who loved to be “out with her girls” but talking to people and giving advice was something that came naturally to her. After graduating from Wesleyan University with an English degree, Yee brought that talent to Eminem’s Shade 45 radio station. Within a few years, she landed her own morning show and in 2010 she became a part of The Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, a show that has facilitated some of the best conversations around music and pop culture of all time. When Yee isn’t with her hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy, she is hosting her own podcast, Lip Service, investing in real estate running her juice bar, & more. We talk about making time for yourself, running, juicing, how to have self-confidence & so much more. Thank you Angela for sharing your story with me. Links to Products/Resources Mentioned:SKIN: Haven Spa, D’Mai Urban Spa, Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator, Skinceuticals Phloretin CF Serum, Creme de La Mer MAKEUP:@facebysandradene, Nars Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30, Mac Prep + Prime BB Balm SPF 35, Chanel Eyebrow Pencil, Nars Brow Perfector, Benefit Brow Kit, Pat McGrath Mothership, Bobbi Brown Concealer, Nars Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil, Nars Night Porter Eyeliner, Laneige Lip Mask, The Lash GalleryRESOURCES: Hosted on Acast. A Mississippi Beauty Queen & PR Boss ft. Savannah Engel

If there’s one thing that PR queen Savannah Engel has mastered, it’s the art of conversation. “Throw me into a room with 300 people I don’t know,” Engel says, “give me two hours, and I will know every single person there, and be their best friend.” You might argue that the key to such confidence lies in Savannah’s undeniable Southern charm. Her roots in the Mississippi Delta, combined with her mother’s fashionable influence made for a keen eye and impeccable communication skills. That being said, fashion PR wasn’t always the plan. In fact, while studying at Southern Methodist University (SMU), Engel had a deep passion for refugee studies and legal work. It wasn’t until she landed an internship in New York with Michael Kors that everything changed. From there, Engel went on to work for Barney’s and First Access Entertainment. Then, in 2017, she finally founded her own firm, Savannah Engel PR. In a matter of only two years, Engel has taken on clients such as Markarian, Pyer Moss, Cherry LA, Missoni, and many more. All in all, she’s a boss, and she’s a force to be reckoned with.  Links to Products/Resources Mentioned:SKIN: Dr. Laura Palmisano/@dermduo, Cane + Austin, Skinbetter Science Alto Defense Serum, Tazorac Retinol Gel, Bling LashHAIR: Hairstory, Jorge LuisMAKEUP: Skincolor de La Mer, Charlotte TilburyBODY: Ebenezer Eyelash Extension, Dr. Ryan Neinstein (EMsculpt)ADDITIONAL RESOURCES: @daddyengel, MNDFL (meditation center), The Daily: "When #MeToo Went on Trial", 51 First Dates: 23- HOTATIONFollow Savannah on IG: @savannah_engel. If you’re wondering what the new guard of beauty editorial looks like, look no further than Akili King. The 23-year old Chicago native and NYU Gallatin graduate has published a book of her own poems (titled AWAKENING), and worked for brands like The FADER, Milk Makeup, and Fashion Fair. All that being said, her current position as the Beauty Editorial Assistant at Vogue is “still pretty surreal” because, how could it not be?! Feed Your Face Ft April Gargiulo, Founder of Vintner's Daughter

“What I was cleaning my house with was cleaner than what I was putting on my face. I had my head in the sand like a lot of people.” — my guest, April Gargiulo, on the genesis of her natural, performance-driven skincare line: Vintner’s Daughter//April and I discuss how her background in Napa Valley’s wine making process, allowed her to see this gap in the skincare market – she took this knowledge and molded it into a product to help people around the world achieve their best skin. The coveted Vintner's Daughter serum and essence transforms skin and hearing the backstory behind the 22 natural ingredients, it's all clear why this works as well as it does. April never compromises quality for profit, which is what makes her totally unique in today's beauty industry.April’s journey with skincare dates back to developing cystic acne in high school and giving every luxury product a try. After some time she started to develop her first product (the process was rocky pitching one SKU) but she stuck to her North Star and successfully created products that continue to sell out within days of being restocked. I LOVED talking to April and getting to know what has inspired this game-changing, plant-powered skincare and I know you will too.Products/Resources Mentioned: Vintner’s Daughter Active Botanical Serum, Vintner’s Daughter Active Treatment Essence, Alpyn Creamy Bubbling Cleanser, NuFace (electrical stimulation of facial muscles), Face Gym , Endermologie Body Treatment (Spa Radiance) Infiorie solid fragrance, Brother Vellies (April's shoe obsession), CAP Beauty , Onda BeautyStay in touch with me: @brookedevardFollow April & Vintner's Daughter Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanetRate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Thanks for all the love and support. She explains how important it’s been for her to live without shame and the power of telling a single story. We discuss taking breaks from social media, how to support friends who share their mental health concerns (and accomplishments) with you & so much more! Thank you Gillian for your transparency and strength. And to the live audience, thank you for coming & to everyone who listens for all of the support.*****Join the community @nakedbeautyplanet on IGFollow Gillian: @gilliansagansky Listen to Gillian’s first interview on Naked Beauty ‘Always Wear Sunscreen & Always be the Coolest Girl in the Room’ on Apple PodcastsDon’t forget to subscribe & rate the show! Vogue, Microneedling, Bronzer & Lacefront Wigs Ft Marjon Carlos

Marjon Carlos is a writer, cultural critic, speaker and editor whose work I’ve admired for years. She is the former Senior fashion writer at Vogue.com where she explored the intersection of style and culture – informed by her academic background in African-American studies at Brown and Columbia University.Marjon tells me how she came into her own personal style, shopping memories in Dallas, the early days of Saint Heron and how she’s thinking about aging. She’s a fashion girl slowly wading into the beauty waters and we talk microneedling, how we’re coping with our natural hair and the temptation of wigs.Links to products/resources:Unzipped(documentary):https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114805/Oribe Hair Gel for Textured/Curly Hair:https://www.oribe.com/collections/moisture-and-control/curl-gelee-for-shine-definition.htmlMake Beauty(natural products made in NY)https://www.makebeauty.comFenty Bronzer Sun Stalk’rhttps://www.fentybeauty.com/sun-stalkr/instant-warmth-bronzer/FB30015.htmlLesse Balancing Facial Oil:https://lesseofficial.com/products/face-serum--Follow/Get in Touch with Marjon: http://www.marjoncarlos.com/contactFollow Me: https://www.instagram.com/brookedevard/Join the Naked Beauty Community: https://www.instagram.com/nakedbeautyplanet/---Get your tickets to the live show in NYC Saturday June 22nd: http://nakedbeauty.eventbrite.com--Subscribe, rate & review the podcast! Being Chic AF by Doing Whatever You Want Ft Sophia Roe

“I have a story. It’s hard, it’s gnarly but it’s not about the story, it’s what you do with it.” - Sophia Roe, my incredible guest for this special episode of Naked Beauty.Sophia’s wisdom, humor and excitement for life are all so refreshing and a joy to witness. I loved learning about how she got her start in high-end restaurants, then to catering, and how her love of food has evolved over time. We talk clean beauty and the correlation between skin and food, make-up girls vs skincare girls, curly hair care, and how her esthetician changed her skin forever.Sophia grew up in and out of foster care. Her mother, who suffered from substance abuse and addiction, was still there for her in her own unique way that Sophia remembers fondly. We talk about how her iconic haircut came to her in a dream, moving to New York City and finding her style. She shares that she got her first manicure at 28 and what it was like for her to suddenly work at an office when she began working at MILK Makeup.Listen to hear us discuss: tattoos, infrared facials, finding confidence when you need to be on camera, lack of diversity in the wellness industry and how she handles it, her must-have beauty products, the book she’s writing and so much more!-Follow Sophia: https://www.instagram.com/sophia_roe/Join the Naked Beauty Community: @nakedbeautyplanet https://www.instagram.com/nakedbeautyplanet/Follow me @brookedevard: https://www.instagram.com/brookedevard/Get your tickets to the LIVE show in NYC 6/22:http://nakedbeauty.eventbrite.comLinks to Products/Resources:MILK Eye Pigment: https://www.sephora.com/product/eye-pigment-P404807Sophia’s Shoot for Cherry Bomb: https://cherrybombe.com/radio-cherry-bombe/food-and-feelings-with-sophia-roeMatthew Miller her esthetician: https://www.matthewmillerskin.comHemp oil for skin: https://www.mindbodygreen.com/articles/hemp-oil-for-skinThe Neuco vitamin c powder: https://www.thenueco.com/products/topical-cZipp Beauty Treatments: https://ziipbeauty.comPalo Santo Benefits: https://monq.com/eo/essential-oils/palo-santo-essential-oil-holistic-benefits-holy-wood/Bergamot Oil: https://www.wellandgood.com/good-looks/bergamot-essential-oil-uses/DS & Durga Rose Atlantic: https://dsanddurga.com/products/rose-atlanticKoh Gen Do foundation: https://kohgendocosmetics.com/collections/foundationLaura mercier eyeshadow sticks (easy eye makeup):https://www.lauramercier.com/eye-shadow/caviar-stick-eye-colour-prod450002.htmlClear Boy Brow: https://www.glossier.com/products/boy-browWeleda Sensitive Skin Facial Moisturizer: https://www.weleda.com/product/s/sensitive-care-facial-creamSurreal Skincare -...
