MOVIES WITH MY MOTHER

Mom and I sat down and watched a requested Bubba Ho-Tep. Elvis. JFK. A Mummy. What more is there to say? We had a rest home themed meal of Salisbury Steak and mashed potatoes, steamed veg and rolls. We talked Don Coscarelli and a good bit on the passing of Roger Corman.

Mom and I sat down and watched The Terminator. We had a lovely diner theme meal and talked trivia and James Cameron. We get a little political at the end, and Alexis gets a little over animated. You've been warned.

Mom and I sat down just before St Patrick's Day to celebrate the true start of spring-Spring Training, by watching Major League. We talk baseball, name changes and trivia while enjoying a sweet ballpark menu of hot dogs, hot pretzel bites and cold beers.

To honor a recently deceased family member, Mom and I watched a movie that would have surely been one of his favorites, 1979's Alien. We had a protein paste type meal of Red Beans and Rice with cornbread as our theme meal and talked trivia, Ridley Scott and just how much cigarette smoke you can have in an oxygen rich environment.

Mom and I sat down and watched John Carpenter's They Live. We talked a little trivia before getting to the nitty gritty and talking politics and homelessness. This movie was made in the 80's but even now, 35 years later, the message is the same. And that's the real horror of the whole thing. There isn't much food in this movie, so our theme meal was to consume, so we went out and bought bagel sandwiches and fancy coffee drinks.

The Arctic frost has left Ohio, so Mom and I sat down and watched John Carpenter's The Thing. Since there's no real food in this movie, we had camp dinners. We talked trivia and the history of Arctic research.

Mom and I sat down on a cold, windy day to watch Men at Work, a Justin favorite. We had a theme meal of hamburgers and french fries and we talked the little bit of trivia we could find.

Mom and I sat down to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol before Christmas to go along with our watching of Scrooged. This movie was better. Who doesn't love a muppet?? We had a wonderful turkey dinner as our theme meal. We hope you had a wonderful holiday season, whether you celebrate or not. Mom and I kick off the holiday season by watching Scrooged. We had a lovely stir fry meal and talked about Bill Murray til we were blue in the face. We talked about Mom cutting the cable cord (finaly!!) and my cat Jelly Bean makes a small cameo at the end.

To celebrate our 50th movie, Mom and I sat down and watched Plan 9 From Outer Space. We did this, so you don't have to. It's rough y'all. We ate breakfast and talked trivia, drag queens, Florida and more. Laugh along as Mom confuses Ron DeSantis for Ted Cruz!

To round out our Sequel Spooktacular, Mom and I sat down and watched Army of Darkness, the third entry in the Evil Dead series. Mom and I watched the original Halloween II. We had a lovely hospital food meal of breaded chicken tenders, scalloped potatoes and steamed broccoli. We tried to avoid politic talk. Though I did flub and say I was voting no on issue one, my verbiage was confused though my heart was in the right place.

Mom and I started Spooky Season and our Halloween Sequels Spectacular and watched Psycho 2. Not necessarily a cult classic, but it should be? We had a wonderful diner food breakfast and we talked trivia. I only called director Richard Franklin "Robert Franklin" once. I wanted to do it every time I said his name. We had Miso soup and Chicken Stir Fry, since Shark's Fin Soup and Monekys Brains aren't easy to find in Ohio. There is a glitch near the beginning of the recording where the Rotten Tomatoes and MetaScores weren't caught. Google them because my notebook is nowhere near my computer. On a creepy day, Mom and I sat down to watch The Cabin In The Woods. Themed meals are still postponed, but as Mom will point out, they really only consumed beer and marijuana....and yeah, that's not an activity we share. I feel like you all are kind of in for a treat, because this is an uncharacteristically focused episode LOL. I think this movie had a wealth of trivia that we weren't used to. And, for a horror/slasher type movie, Mom was a little impressed, which was a huge bonus for me. We want to thank you for sticking with us and my super erratic posting schedule. I'm medicated again, so I'm hoping that helps my focus and will to do more than survive. Happy Belated Pride to all! Mom and I sat down to watch Kinky Boots. She had seen the touring stage production, but not the movie, so it was a fun time to be had.There wasn't a lot of trivia for this movie and the events of the few days before recording were heavy on our spirits. In the US the highest court of the land overturned a 50 year old ruling that allowed for women to be provided safe abortions. Now it is up to the states to choke women's bodily autonomy, which many have been greedily waiting to do. It is sick and a very sad time to be the owner of a uterus in the United States.We urge all allies, ladies, men who care about women's rights and people with uterus' in general to contact all of your state and local representatives on both sides of the aisle. We urge you to get out and vote these suuuppppeeerrrr conservatives that wouldn't know science if it bit them in the ass. Next year's Pride may very well hinge on this as they are already musing about overturning the right for gays to legally marry.We love you. We love love and really, we need it now more than ever. Yes, I know we skipped number 20. 9 to 5 had some audio issues I've not yet managed to conquer. In the mean time, Mom and I watched Hot Fuzz. She came over with hardly any notes and was afraid she might not like this film. Turns out she loved it. We also talk about work, the US abolishing Day Light Saving's Time too fast, and just how cute Edgar Wright is!Mom was also grievously mauled by my kitten.

Mom and I sat down and watched Friday. We had planned on a different movie but decided this was a little more Mom's speed. Would you want to watch sex scenes, plural, with you mother?? I didn't think so.Our themed meal was awesome, but themed to the wrong Friday movie LOL. We had sweet ass burritos, but no extra hot sauce. We talk local politics, work and how my husband and I put a gaming cabinet together with no bloodshed. A first for us.

Mom and I sat down before Valentine's Day to watch Wristcutters: A Love Story. She was apprehensive, but was along for the ride. We made our own Kamikaze pizzas talked about next episode's movie. Jesus Christ! Mom and I watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We had faux Rabbit Stew and hella technical difficulties. I spoiled several other movies and we bitched about our jobs. Just a normal show for us!

Mom and I sat down on an unseasonably warm Christmas Day and watched The Hebrew Hammer.Spoiler Alert: This episode is rough y'all. We tried our hand at "winging it". Also, there seemed to be some clipping in the audio due to lag. Listen, we tried. We didn't want a whole month to go by without getting a movie in.

Mom and I sat down and watched a movie that celebrates both Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had feel-good food and discussed the weather, the possibility of Joe Fox being a total creep and how much Mom hates Home Alone.

Mom and I watched Tommy Boy, a movie she's actually seen before! We spend a great bit of time fixing world problems. We are opinionated, you've been warned.

We watched John Carpenter's Halloween. Mom had lots of questions and I spoil most of the Hellraiser franchise.
