We've come to know the minions, but do we really. Here we get to see where they come from and why they are the way they are. Original Review: Minions, they've been around for thousands of years. Their only purpose, to serve the most despicable master they can find. It hasn't always worked out the best for their masters but the minions have persevered. Their upbeat demeanor and silly antics do more than just entertain one another, it keeps them going when they're masterless. When one of these time periods lasts longer than they could have imagined, one of them decides to go out and discover the world. Two others will join him on this noble quest, for companionship and adventure but ultimately a mission. The mission: To find a new master. As the search continues, they face many challenges that threaten them and the mission. When they come across an opportunity to serve the ultimate villain, it's an opportunity they cannot pass up. Upon meeting her, the minions win her over. Their first assignmentﾠpresentsﾠit's own difficulties as they end up in a situation that will test their will and loyalty to one another and to their master/mistress. This tale is filled with childlike wonder and immature antics. It answers a lot of questions but leaves you asking more. It's hard to believe that such little yellow blobs that have a language that few understand can be so loveable but they are. If you're a fan of the Despicable Me movies, and/or the minions (alone), you'll definitely get a kick out of this. This may not meet all expectations but it's definitely true to their character... literally and figuratively. Gru is back, so is everyone else. There are some new faces and other entertain features. If you're a fan of the minions, you'll leave smiling. Orignal Review: We find Gru no longer the villain but a father and has been acclimating to his new family life for a while. But as we know in life things change. He’s approached by the AVL (The Anti-Villain League) to help find a villain who has stolen a top-secret formula that turns any living thing into a monster of sorts. Along with the minions, He sets off with a reluctant new partner Lucy to find the culprit they believe is hiding out in one of the Paradise Mall stores. Gru now deals with a work life as well as now being a father which is fun to watch play out in pure funny Despicable me style. The spy stuff in the movie is fun as well with all the new gadgets and stuff. And seriously Agnes is the most adorable animated kid since Boo from Monsters Inc. We loved her in the first movie and you will surely love her more in this one as well. Besides Agnus, El Macho is just that Macho. His introduction alone was cool. Who is he again? Well watch the movie and find out. The crazy humor of the minions is much funnier than in the first installment and the humor is well placed as usual. Is Gru despicable or devoted? That's a deep question for a shallow man... Or is he? Orignal Review: Gru is despicable and a villain, at least in his mind. He’s been in the game a long time and hasn’t really made the impact he dreamt he would. And he’s been trying to gain his mother’s approval since he was a boy. And now with a new breed of villains on the horizon, younger and a bit better at it than Gru, he will have to do something that has never been done before to prove he is the best. With the help of his faithful little minions, he will...(pause for effect)…Steal The Moon! But he’s going to need some help. His idea is simple. Adopting three girls he could get into places he couldn’t before. Using them he will get what he’s always wanted, or will he? We see the relationship between him and the girls start to get in the way of the mission at hand. To be despicable or be good for the first time in his life? Will he able to stay the course and steal the moon and become the greatest supervillain of all time? Will he ever gain his mother’s approval? Well, find out for yourself. The comedic elements between Gru, the minion, and the girls are very fun to watch develop throughout. It has its heartfelt moments and is a fun overall experience you’ll most likely enjoy even if you’re not considered a kid. But kids will love it, that’s for sure. The Disney classic has been reimagined in a live action format. What does that mean? Listen along and see what you think. Original Review: The pride lands, where the circle of life is alive and well. Carefully guarded and watched over by Mufasa the kingdom lives in harmony. When Simba is born, he is being taught the ways of the pride land by his father. Only, it's not only his father that is doing the teaching. Scar, Simba's uncle has another plan in mind and begins to tempt Simba with things outside of the pride land. While on an exploration trip, Simba wanders into a ravine. Whilst finding his own voice, a stampede ensues. The result of this stampede will change Simba's life forever. Those events would cast Simba out of the land that he once called home and will put someone in power that could destroy everything and everyone. As the years pass, things in all of their lives changed. It's only because of a chance encounter that hope begins to spring forth once again. What will happen? You'll have to find out for yourself. If you are a huge fan of the original 1994 animated original, this live-action story is about 80% spot on at least in the dialogue. Some key scenes and some key songs have been omitted. Though there are some new bits, it has seemed to lose the magic of the original. Fans of the original could find themselves disappointed, ones who haven't seen it in a long time or those experiencing this for the first time might love this version. Either way, Disney missed the mark on this one as it tries too hard to be something more out of Animal Planet than a Disney classic. 12 Days of Christmas (Day 8) Original Review: Christmas, it's a holiday that many celebrate around the world. Some call it a pagan holiday, some have no interest at all, some think it's overly commercialized and some love every part of it. What category (s) do you fit in? Kirk Cameron went above and beyond in this film. He addresses all of the above issues with his Brother-In-Law during a Christmas party. His BIL is fed up with everything Christmas. He wants to celebrate baby Jesus but doesn't want the rest. Because of his feelings, he goes into overload and retreats to his car. Kirk finds him in the car and piece by piece addresses each of the issues. By using biblical references and historical information Kirk helps his BIL see the true meaning that is too easily obscured. What began as a party where he excluded himself because of everything going on becomes a party where he fully involves himself and even shakes it up a bit. It's absolutely amazing what we can do if we humble ourselves. Now this movie isn't just for "believers", that is the targeted audience but this reaches beyond. I was personally amazed at the quality of this. I walked into it honestly dreading it. The poster looked silly and goofy, and though I thought the title had merit... I wasn't expecting much. I was so happy to be surprised in a good way. I appreciated the way it was told and how it was told. It isn't meant to shove anything down anyone's throat. It's simply identifying what was hidden right in front of us. If you have an opportunity to see this, do... Then share it :) you'll be glad you did. Santa Claus is a fairytale or so we are told when we reach a certain age. But what if we’re really just misinformed? Some have used some creative license to expand on the original Dr. Seuss idea, yet they all stayed true to the meaning of the story. So, you may ask yourself how does this one stand out? 12 Days of Christmas (Day 3) Original Review: The classic Dr. Seuss story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been reimagined. This live-action adaptation of the classic features some names that are familiar and others that are new to the scene. Although it stays true to the basic story, there are some additions that add to the whole but with it, it loses a little bit of the Seuss magic. The final result is definitely Seussical with a little bit of Tim Burton inspiration mixed in. There's a little more added in as to the origin of how everything came to be the way it was. Both adding to the whole story and taking away from a little bit of it. Here we get to not only see the Grinch but we get to kind of get to know him as well. There's a special little Who who helps him find the true meaning of what it is that he's so desperately looking for. A bit of sarcasm, a lot of fun and some great songs that you'll have stuck in your head for years to come. A new classic or something more? That's for you to decide.
