Here we see a nuclear protester turned scientist that is in for much more than he bargained for. While quietly researching worms he gets commandeered by the US government to study something unexplainable. What he finds is beyond imagination... A beast that according to folklore terrorizes all that it comes across. Soon, they discover not only the destruction but something more. This is a game changer and they know they have to stop it at all costs. As humans, we've been the dominant species for generations... This discovery could bring that to an end... After figuring out what it is after, they come up with a plan to lure him out. Where they find it is the unlikeliest place. Madison Square Garden is ground zero. That instinct was not to harm us but to protect what was most important to it. When we get in the way of that, things change yet again and we are no longer a stumbling block but the target itself. Who will win this epic battle? Will we cease to be the dominant species on this planet? or Will we defeat Godzilla? Cinematically this is brilliant with the special effects and CGI. Definitely, a different look at a monster we're so familiar with. The most disappointing part looking back was there is a perfect opening for the story to continue and even after 16 years, nothing has been done. Never say never... Day 5 of our 12 days of Christmas We fought them once, we were victorious... What will happen now? Original Review: We always knew they'd come back... We thought we'd be ready... We had no idea. With twenty (20) years to prepare, our advancements in technology have expanded astronomically. The thing is, even with everything, there's no way we could have been prepared for this. Last time, it was as simple as infecting them with a virus to make them vulnerable to our attacks. This time they have the upper hand. As the best of the best take to the skies against these foes, you will find many recognizable faces along the way. Even though we have all of our advancements, there is something that we couldn't have been prepared for. This surprise is one that we probably couldn't face alone, an unlikely ally will help in ways that were unimaginable prior to this. Only this now opens the door for even more... Will we win this epic battle? or will this be the end of civilization as we know it? That can only be answered upon watching this epic-ly unusual sequel to Independence Day. This feels like a compilation of ideas from many other major motion pictures. There are bits and pieces that will feel out of place but as whole there is a flow to this. A surprising adventure that ends up as much as a comedy as anything else. Does is successfully add to the story, definitely, but it just doesn't live up to the hype. There is hope for it though as this gives the idea that there will be more to come... Come watch this and decide for yourself if you want to see more... ***Posse*** They're baaaack!! If you were expecting a fun alien flick like the first one but with higher stakes and more destruction, well here ya go. It's been 20 years since the first movie. We had to prepare for their return and did they ever return. However, the gap of Will Smith's character was definitely felt. Sure we had some flashes of him but it missed a bit without him. Their ship is roughly the size of the entire United States if not more. That's definitely bigger than the last one! The disaster portion of the movie was fun to watch and the magnitude of the invaders was definitely bigger (you'll see what I mean). Now that's what I call a close encounter! Wait...that was the first one. So, do we win again? Do we pull it off in time? We do know that We will not go quietly into the night, We won't go down without a fight..! Of course, we won't. It has its flaws but it's a fun summer alien/comedy/end of the world (again) flick. Day 2 of our 12 days of Christmas You know about WWII but do you know about Midway? You're about to... Original Review: The attack on Pearl Harbor was one of the most defining moments of WWII, but it wasn't the only defining moment. So many other moments defined history during this time frame. One that many are unaware of is the battle of Midway. The Japanese were planning a strategic attack on Midway because they thought an attack there would secure their victory after what they had done at Pearl Harbor... and they were right. Fortunately, some intelligence was intercepted allowing America to prepare for the upcoming attack. The only problem, most of our forces that would have been used to defend Midway had been destroyed. The heroic actions of numerous individuals forever changed the course of history. This is that story, their story, the story of Midway and of the brave souls that went above and beyond to do whatever was necessary. Had it not been for those brave individuals, WWII would have had a drastically different outcome. History fans will certainly be enthralled by the historic accuracy of this presentation. As with anything in Hollywood, there are moments that are more for entertainment than history but it doesn't deflect from the story that's told. This isn't a typical fun date movie, it's a historical presentation that is aimed at those who can appreciate the idea that if we fail to learn history, we are doomed to repeat it. Original Review: There are few things that are certain in life. One of them is simple for many, answering the question of who their parents are. This story is about one of the few amongst many (the few are more than many realize). Urban Quint, a child that was left to the care of an orphanage at a young age struggled with this seemingly simple question. As time went on, his mother came back into his life and brought him to America. Time and the truth were not on his side, instead of being able to express himself, he was forced to bottle it up as he didn't know what to do with the emotions involved. His son, David, decided that he wanted to know more about his dad's story. Only, the deeper he dug, the more frustrated others became. Predator and Prey live in harmony in Zootopia... or do they? Original Review: Judy is a young lady with a dream. Her parents, although loving aren't the most supportive when her dreams are concerned. She's not about to let that stop her, though and she goes on to become the first bunny to complete the police academy. That's not all it will take, though for her to make her mark. She may be small, but she is ingenious. In a dog eat dog world, it is literally the predators against the prey. When a series of missing mammals garners the attention of those higher up. Judy seems to slip through the cracks. Only when she reaches out to someone that she might be able to help does her life begin to change. In doing so she'll change much more than she could realize. This is an ultimate story of the underdog that refuses to give up. Basically triumphing through adversity and dealing with whatever life dishes out, letting it shape who we are and what we do with our lives. What seems like a simple cartoon has a much deeper meaning that might be a little much for younger audiences to grasp but at the same time, if they are exposed to such ideas, they'll have a hope for the future that they couldn't have imagined. This is a story that has the rare ability to reach all ages. There is a complexity to this that may not appeal to some but the majority will find this incredibly endearing. Enjoy this alone or with family and friends. There's something for everyone. Only it's not as simple as it seems. There is a struggle for power within the organization. Which has created an eye for an eye situation even under the watch of "the eye". In the midst of their introduction, they find themselves caught up in something that goes beyond what they could have imagined. Calculating their next move will be everything in this ultimate game of cat and mouse. All while finding themselves in the midst of no one and everyone at the same time. So what is the goal of this? An illusion that will reveal much more than it initially seems. Purposely enigmatic, this takes you deeper inside the inner workings of what makes them tick and what makes all of this possible. Some questions will answer themselves and other questions will be created leaving us to wonder... Is there more in the works for the Horsemen? Now that might not make sense at first but give it a chance... and let it reveal itself to you. This here is the story of four (4) individual magicians/illusionists, and how they are brought together by someone even more mysterious than them. Together they become The Four (4) Horsemen. While alone, they were just average but together, they're incredible. Creating and managing illusions that will mystify and astound you. Along this wild ride, we'll watch as they achieve the impossible time and time again. In doing so they gain the attention of national and international authorities. As the story progresses, it becomes the ultimate game of cat and mouse. Just when you think you've got parts of this figured out, there is a twist that will keep you guessing. Stay with this through to the end though, the ultimate twist won't reveal itself until the very end. Even then you'll be left wondering... What next? The base story feels very much like Houdini meets Robin Hood. That being said, there is more to this than tricks and illusions. Predator(s) have been here before, and though it may have been hidden from the public, the gov't knows more than it cares to admit. When a group of soldiers comes across something that they don't understand, they investigate what it could be. One of them sees an opportunity to look a little deeper, so he sends something to himself (back home) in order to have exclusive access to it. What he doesn't know is that the package will end up in the hands of a loved one. This situation will not only put his team in danger but his loved ones as well. All in an effort to defeat the enemy... Only what if the enemy isn't the enemy? That may be confusing with the Predator stories but hang on, it'll all make sense in the end. Predator vs Prey... which is which? Original Review: When you go to war, you expect to know your enemy. That is a luxury that these guys don't have. In the midst of the jungle, they are hunting. What it is that they are hunting may elude them but that is the least of their problems. They will soon find that they are the ones being hunted, one by one they begin to disappear. When what is left of them is found, the morale drops significantly. In order to keep things moving forward, they restrategize and plan out their attack step by step. The problem is that they don't know anything about that which they are hunting. It's not just a difficult foe, it's one that is a challenge like they've never seen before (literally). Just when they think that the fight is over, one of them stumbles upon something that changes the challenge. You see, the game has been one of seeing without sight, but what if that advantage is gone. Then the fight becomes fair... If there can be such a thing in a matter such as this. Well, just when the fight appears to be won, the creature sets in motion a series of events that will change the game for them all. Who will come out as the victor in this dangerous game? He's too preoccupied with his business ventures to see what's happening right in front of him. When he finds himself the victim of an unfortunate accident, he'll get a second chance. Only the second chance isn't quite what he had expected. As he adapts to his new self, he'll get a chance to reacquaint himself with those that he thought he knew. Giving him a fresh perspective on an old situation. This new perspective will affect many aspects in his life. Though the story may seem familiar, this is a slightly refreshing take on what you might recognize. Though it feels like The Shaggy Dog meets Click, it has an appeal all of its own. Original Review: Hiccup has come a long way since we first met him when he began his training. He has had a lot of help along the way, close friends and of course the dragons... especially Toothless. Through his adventures, he's had many victories and many losses (some personal). Now he is the chief in charge of Berk and must make his decisions around what is best for everyone instead of just him. Instead of making tools and weapons to fight with, they now make items that help them with the dragons. Perfect harmony... Or so it seems. Our well-known character from the first movie, Hiccup and his companion Toothless wander the seas looking to map out more of the world. What they find is something much more... A dragon army... led by a ruthless foe of Stoick. This quest leads to much more than that though... A heartwarming reunion. The glee of that is short lived as we experience heartache soon after. Berk will be forever changed. We see a progression of friendships that grow and bloom, love that grows and is lost, and what loyalty really means. The story centers on some of the characters but we don't see as much of the other ones as in the 1st movie. Saying that this answers a lot of questions and leaves room for another sequel... If they do it as well as they did this, let's hope so. Where this movie falls in the Karate Kid series is up for debate but it does justice to the original story.
