Monster Mash

The boys are up late for a slightly delirious podcast about the Ludroth and the Royal Ludroth. Somehow they get onto Lion King 2 and sleepily hallucinate about Resident Evil 4 and donuts.

For the last time, the lads struggle to fill an episode with chat about a pretty normal dinosaur. Luke does his paleontologist thing, Jay thinks it will be really funny to make him repeat himself, Andy needs Jay to explain the joke and Jas tells Andy off for forgetting his PE Kit. Next week, we can get on with some interesting dinosaurs!

This week we chat about the big snow beasty, the Lagombi. Is it a rabbit? Luke knows nothing about Ireland, Andy knows a little too much about vibrators, Jas mocks Luke's accent and Jay is on a bus. Will he get home in time to save this train wreck of a podcast? You''l have to listen to find out!

To celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with all its ridiculously named J.K Rowling creatures, the boys get gobby about the equally stupidly named Nibelsnarf. Luke has a very rude awakening, Jay briefly wonders if the Nibelsnarf was real, Andy throws himself into his role and, during the hunt, Jas thinks tripping us all up with his Insect Glaive is the perfect response to seeing us try and fish the 'snarf out of a hole.

Recording just before the US Elections, everyone apart from Andy discusses the big angry chicken Yian Kut-Ku. What does he eat? Would he be tasty fried up with 11 secret herbs and spices? All these questions and more are answered!

That's right, boys and girls, the monster you've all been waiting for! The most interesting bit of creature design in all of gaming, the Velocidrome and the Velociprey! It's a dinosaur, right, but it's blue. Luke does his palaeontologist thing again, Jay tries his very best to make the attack patterns sound interesting, Jas is a big fan of reptiles and Andy is dealing with some serious fears. Nobody was dreading the Velocidrome like Andrew Rice . . .

This week, the squad deal with the demon toad Tetsucabra and the deviant form, the Drilltusk Tetsucabra. Luke is badly hungover, Jay and Jas share their Bane impressions and Andy is so glad to experience a hunt where he's the only one who doesn't faint he could die. In fact, he invites you to murder him.

This week, the crew hunts the super interesting Cephadrome and therefore remain completely on topic. Andy's trying to host, Jay is ill, Jas is a Scottish Twat and Luke sounds like he's recording gagged in the boot of a car. Enjoy! Next week we'll be at full quality again, I'm sure.

In an inversion of Goldilocks, here's three humans facing one bear! James Stewart is presumably hibernating, so a slightly smaller team than normal convened to discuss the Arzuros and the deviant monster, the Redhelm Arzuros! Luke waxes lyrical about his most beloved animal, Jay shills our other podcast and Andy is a murderous bear poacher.

This week, the Monster Mash team deal with what is, basically, a dinosaur. Get used to that. On the other hand, though, it is a dinosaur! Dinosaurs are cool, and fighting packs of them with a big sword is pretty sick! These ones have long vampire fangs, it's very interesting. Get hype! Then, in the excerpts from our hunt, Andy reveals that he really is as switched off as we all assume.

From small crabs, to big crabs, to giant enemy crabs, the Hermitaurs get their turn in the spotlight this week. The boys discuss how cool it is to wear a skull, like a bunch of 16-year-olds who just discovered Metallica. Also: how to be considerate to dogs in firework season. Plus, in the hunt extracts at the end, a good ol' fashioned Monster Hunter singalong!

In episode 2, we discuss the Bulldrome and its smaller cousins, the Bullfango and the Bullswine. We go into the fight, the hilarious mount and paralysis animations, the origins of the name and all kinds of nonsense along the way.

Welcome to Monster Mash, where each week we'll be having a little chat about a different Monster Hunter monster. We're starting with Monster Hunter Generations because it's fresh and relevant, it has monsters from throughout the whole series and we've definitely all played it. That does mean, ridiculously, our first episode is one of the newest monsters. Deal with it.
