The Mexican Fishermans Parable: Are We Hustling Just To Get To The Same Place We Started?
I was very fortunate to spend some time in the beautiful pacific country of Vanuatu at the end of 2022. Transitioning from the hustle and bustle of my (intentional but exhausting) lifestyle to a place where the people are visibly content and live on 'island time' it was a shock to my system. This got me thinking about the Mexican Fisherman's Parable and thinking about if we in the west, the developing world, the booming (or shrinking) middle classes and mega cities of earth are doing it right? Are we just hustling to end up in the same place as those who live far simpler lives than us?
