Inspired by the 2023 New South Wales state elections I discuss 4 core issues I see with modern democracies around the world. These are pandering of two party candidates to the median voter, unwillingness to build upon the successes of political predecessors, short term limits / short term thinking / career politicians and the loss of the art of political discourse and debate.
