She later obtained a security license and a job. She returns to the center from time to time to make a donation because she knows how important this type of support is.

We bring awareness to campaigns that encourage kindness and solidarity between humans and animals, and with each other, while promoting causes that will make the world better for our generation, and future generations that will follow in our wake. Valerie Hyman of Belafonte TACOLCY Center (Tacolcy.org). They empower youth and families to transcend the challenges of their daily lives by providing them with essential tools, with a focus on education, technology, athletics, and the arts. — Bryan Akinmade, is a dedicated and caring volunteer who started a drive campaign to collect a large amount of hygiene items for the homeless. He connected with the values of The Caring Place.

They support women experiencing menstrual puberty by collecting menstrual sanitary products for women who cannot afford them, which are essential for a safe life, especially for school-aged girls who miss school due to lack of these products. Makissa Lewis of My Seester, Inc. They strive to open the communication on benefits as well as issues that concern the female veterans’ population. They also recognize the lack of programming that impact women and girls in South Florida, focusing their energy and resources on filling the void of resources for female veterans. — Nadleen Laleau, of 4KIDS (4KIDS.US). They bring hope, homes, and healing to kids and families in crisis across Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. 4KIDS remains committed to redefining foster care with the support of the faith-based community.

Crystal Chester from Bethel Legacy 1322 (based on Proverbs 13:22) is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving people hope. They are always involved with homeless shelters; they intend to purchase property to provide a place for the homeless to live instead of living on the streets and to leave a legacy for future generations. — Shamele Jenkins. They take care of children who have been taken in by the state because they have suffered mental or sexual abuse or have been neglected and abandoned. Today “People pay more attention to a homeless dog and cat than to a child”

Dr. Jacqueline Del Rosario, ReCapturing the Vision International (RTV) is focused on providing support for at-risk youth to succeed in environments lacking supportive structures to promote their success. Our vision is one in which every child has an opportunity to succeed. RTV offers an array of comprehensive programs and services focused on character development, healthy relationship education, family mentoring, counseling, and case management services, along with referrals for medical, behavioral health, and academic services.

Elizabeth Montero. Volunteer. Advocate for the happiness of children. She helps organize events with the CoverGirls focus group at The Caring Place and also motivates mothers. She is also a real estate and loan broker, providing her clients with a knowledgeable experience. — Liz Espinosa, leader of the Girlfriends 4 Girlfriends focus group at The Caring Place. They organize events to help and follow up with women and their children who are no longer at the Center for Women and Children. She is also a real estate agent.

Angel Arroyo: He spoke about his time as a resident in the Broward Outreach Centers where his entire life was changed . Now he is the proud owner of his own business Joe Pinto: Rethink Food, collects food from local restaurants and donates the food to The Caring Place. Create more sustainable And equitable food systems.

Dieulene Jeanlouis from Earthly Doula. They provide community resources to mothers and families in need, as well as counseling or therapy should a mother need it, especially during pregnancy. They also organize events to educate and keep families safe. Damian Martinez of FORT International. They are local providers of business to business wholesale distribution supplies mainly targeting hospitality, health care and academies. They provide their own scholarship program for students in an effort to help those who pursue higher education. They are The Caring Place Thanksgiving sponsors and donated almost 2000 meals.

Haller Mitchell, a staff member at The Caring Place. Thirteen years ago, he was homeless and addicted to drugs. He tried various programs without much success. He came to The Caring Place, where he graduated and began an internship in food service. Eventually, he was offered a position, which he has held for nine years.

Gesulla Cavanaugh, PhD, Research Director, Nova Southeastern University, talks about why she teaches nutrition at BOC and her visits to other shelters. — Jelea Butler, former program client who graduated from The Caring Place, Broward. Monica Mondragon. Volunteer and member of the CoverGirls focus group, where she loves helping the women and children of The Caring Place. She started a home-based business baking a delicious carrot cake recipe. The first week, she received over a hundred orders. Now she competes with celebrity bakers and comes in second place. She believes that God gave her the inspiration to start this business. She plans to continue helping women coming out of domestic violence. Lindsey Willis, Media Relation Manager of Publix, says they love to give back to the community, not just financially, but with time, talent and treasure. And it's been that way since the company was founded. Today, they announced that they have donated another 1.3 million pounds of produce to local food banks. — Kiara Brown-Adams of Early Childhood Educators & Friends. Lucille Bevans of Sisters In Spirit of South Florida, Inc. provides blankets, clothing and sneakers to the homeless, as well as canned food through various kitchens. They recently held their 7th Annual Community event where they provided hot food, face painting, raffles and giveaways to Overtown families. — Islah May Abdul Aziz, of the Muslim Women's International League, South Florida Chapter, helps the community in different ways, such as sending sewing machines to South Africa, sending food to the needy and providing clothing in South Florida.

Carolyn Lewis. Since receiving a mail about helping the homeless and needy many years ago, she has supported The Caring Place at all Thanksgiving and Christmas events. She has an online boutique that she promotes through social media: FB/Tiktok@CarolynGodFavorsMeLewis. She also hosted a Christmas gala with a portion of the proceeds going to the homeless. —Damian Martinez of FORT International. Pastor David Shim, Cross Bridge Church, they focus on the message of the cross as the catalyst for the movement that is truly transforming the Miami area where they have five campuses. Orietta Portuondo, a long-term supporter and volunteer, is committed to our mission of assisting women and children. As a facialist, she brought along a hairdresser and a nail technician to pleasantly surprise five mothers from the mission, who lack the means for such treatments. Orietta encourages others to join her in this noble endeavor. — Tonais Exantus is the founder of Silent Cries, Inc, a non-profit organization that educates, prevents and empowers women, men and children to be free from domestic violence.

Jose Santos, a former Broward Outreach Centers client since '98, shares a riveting journey from teenage homelessness and addiction. He overcame it all, married, and then divorced. Founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver in 1992, After-School All-Stars is one of the largest national organizations providing free, comprehensive afterschool programming for under-resourced students. They empower high school students to succeed pursuing college-enabled careers. — Nadleen Laleau (4kids.us) 4KIDS remains committed to redefining foster care across our region one child at a time, with the support of the faith-based community and more.

Gabby Rojas from Miami Diaper Bank. We’re a nonprofit group that supports low-income families and babies with diaper need throughout South Florida. We collect, store and distribute free diapers and essentials to other nonprofits, family service agencies and shelters in our community. Our goal is to ensure that every baby in South Florida has enough diapers to remain clean, dry and healthy. • Dieulene Jeanlouis, from Baby Community Baby Shower (by Earthly Doula), hosts baby showers for moms in need. These events include food, kids’ zone, and baby gifts.

They make it a priority to give back to the community. They have been serving the community from their job, but this time a group of ten members came to The Caring Place to volunteer serving lunch and washing dishes. Lanee Jackson-Orange from OIC of South Florida. They help people achieve economic stability & reach their full potential. Workforce Readiness Training, Career Development, Family Strengthening and Job Placement. Adly Norelus - SFASAS.ORG. They empower high school students to succeed in entering college and pursuing college-enabled careers.

Addie Goodgame. She came to Florida and was homeless for about a year, sleeping in different places and with different people. She was also addicted to crack cocaine. Her extreme homelessness led her to eat food from dumpsters. Someone brought her to the Broward Outreach Center because she could get help there. She finally graduated in 2010. Today, she is a happy volunteer. Joe Pinto, Rethink Food, brings quality food from restaurants to the Mission.

Carolina Gerdts and her team at RelatedISG Realty were among the donors and supporters of our back-to-school event at our Miami Gardens campus, donating new sneakers and backpacks. They started doing this two years ago because they felt it was very important for each child and their families. This time, 600 registered families received back-to-school items. — Tiquana Deloach of LIGHTHOUSE ANGELS INC, give away food, hygiene items, medical supplies to the homeless in our community. They also partner with another organization in order to provide showers.

Dr. Yamilca Gomez from Florida Virtual School (Flvs.net). She brought resources to the families in our Broward centers. It is a fully accredited statewide public school district that offers 193 courses. They also offer a full-time school for those students who need to earn a high school diploma. Maria Santos from the Children's Home Society of Florida. She found orphaned children on the streets and asked her friends to become foster parents. Their main mission is to end the need for foster care.

Bobby Street, Volunteer and Supporter. His life changed completely when he heard, "If you have talent, you can volunteer". Inspiration struck and he wrote the lyrics to a song he called "Shining light on the Homeless”. He then began giving guitar lessons at the mission and the residents were captivated. The song he wrote will be released for sale and all proceeds will be donated to The Caring Place. Lian Navarro and Patricia McPhoy, staff of The Caring Place, talk about the Back-to-School Drive event which took place at our Church Property in Miami Gardens.

Roberta Clash, talks about how her life changed completely at Broward Outreach Centers. She lost her job and a co-worker let her stay with her, but one day she told her to leave. She found herself without a place to live. Walking down the street someone told her about “The Caring Place". Roberta was only half a day homeless when she entered the BOC. She graduated from the program 8 years ago. Dwight Thomas is a private investigator who helps homeless people reunite with their families through free background checks.

Dilenya Espinoza, new Volunteer Coordinator for The Caring Place in Broward, talks about her new promotion. She also extends an invitation to anyone who would like to participate as a volunteer or who would like to donate clothing, hygiene items or anything else.

Maria Santos from the Children's Home Society of Florida. It was founded in Jacksonville in 1902. It began when the founder found orphaned children on the streets because their parents had died in accidents, so he contacted his own friends to become foster parents. Their main mission is to end the need for foster care. Vanessa Cooper of The Caring Place invites everyone to volunteer at the mission.

Lian Navarro & Patricia McPhoy, Community Development staff, talk about the upcoming Christmas in July event, where clients and the homeless guests receive food and gifts. This event will take place at campuses in Miami and Broward counties. All the help possible is needed, whether it be financial resources or volunteer time to serve meals. The Caring Place is also organizing a "back-to-school" campaign in which children will be given school supplies and new sneakers. Spencer Deering loves what we do in the mission, which is why he has become a volunteer and has been collaborating in different events organized by The Caring Place. Tainah Georges of College Living Experiences. She works with students who have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disability, or other types of cognitive delays. Their students don’t fit into a single box, but each one has the motivation and desire to learn and live independently.

John Ashmen, president of City Gate Network. City Gate Network has been in existence since 1906. It is an association that provides training and educational resources to people who lead rescue missions, urban missions or similar ministries in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. They recently held a conference in Orlando, where more than 1,200 people, mostly from the U.S., gathered to receive training to effectively lead rescue missions. Teresa Sanzone, director of operations for Stream Realty. When she moved to Miami she decided to do something for the homeless community along with her team. So she signed up to volunteer during the Thanksgiving on Good Friday event in 2016 and since then she and her team felt very inspired to continue supporting The Caring Place.

Nathalie Mac-Guffie (Licensed Mental Health Therapist): volunteered with her son who was impacted by serving food to a boy his age. They have since contributed to The Caring Place with various donations including toys. She recommends a little positive interaction that will go a long way in a teen's life. Victoria McKnight: Organizes community events and distributes purses full of toiletries to homeless women. She brought 20 set to The Caring Place. In July she will host a "Summer Burning" event, burning old diaries, journals or anything that holds any painful past.
