KILLER CADETS: Adrianne Jones
In December 1995, Adrianne Jones, a 16-year old high school student, was found brutally murdered in the town of Grand Prairie, Texas. Then, one day in August 1996, detectives got a strange call from the Naval Academy that one of their freshmen cadets, Diane Zamora, had told her friends that her boyfriend, David Graham, a freshman at the Air Force Academy, had killed for her. Investigators were shocked but they had to look into it. The investigators may have gotten more than they bargained for with the killers’ written confessions, that read more like dramatic prose. Deadly DUIs
Alcohol is EVERYWHERE – there is nowhere to hide. But drinking is legal-so what’s the big deal? The issue is when you drink and drive. The question at the beginning of the day should be – how will I get home after I drink? The prison sentences were reasonably lengthy and for good reason. DAM NECK: Justin Huff
In early 2006, Marine Justin Huff was on a temporary assignment at Dam Neck Naval Station in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dig in with Margot as she discusses the case against Navy Petty Officer Cooper Jackson. Flub Fix: (1) Justin and Jake are the same person. Justin is the victim's first name and "Jake" is his nickname. Justin is used throughout the story, but there are a few spots where Margot calls him "Jake" instead - probably because his friends and family called him Jake. (2) Cooper Jackson is the subject's name. Cooper is used throughout the story, but there are a few spots where Margot calls him "Jackson" - probably because that's what he is referred as in some of the news articles. After an eye witness pointed at Sergeant Timothy Hennis as a suspect, he was quickly brought to justice. But the Eastburn Family Murders case would be riddled with various errors that would ultimately lead to Tim’s acquittal. The case went cold, until 2005, when the case was reinvigorated by the cold case team. A DNA hit was made, but who was the perpetrator? This case will have you on the edge of your seat. Dig in with Margot as she discusses the case against Master Sergeant Timothy Hennis. In 2019, this case is still relevant, as the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces recently heard an appeal on October 22, 2019 (listen until the end of this episode for a quick update). Listen to the CAAF oral argument here. Main source for this episode was Scott Whisnant’s book: Innocent Victims. All sources for this episode can be found here. Welcome to Military Murder’s first international case out of Canada. This case made headlines in 2010. A Canadian Air Force Colonel burglarized countless homes, wore his victims’ underwear, and stalked his neighbors while they slept...but he wanted more. Once burglary no longer quenched his thirst, his actions turned deadly. But for the keen interrogation by the Canadian investigators, this man would have been able to camouflage himself because of his status and rank.
