Just an update about my cable cutting project. I found an amplifier that I got a long time ago when I *thought* we were going to cut the cable. It allows me to power 2 TV's with the same antenna setup. I wired that up tonight and we get everything available over the air up here now. Kind of proud of myself :) <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Also, as you might have noticed, I've been playing with some ad insertion tech from the company I work for. You may hear some "injected" audio (ads) in this show at least up to 7-19-19 After that, who knows what you might hear in those spots :) <br /><br /> <br /><br /> I will have Barry Kantz on "Your Podcast" over at blubrry on Monday. I spent some time in the woods and recorded a bit about cutting the cable at the house for TV. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> I put up a new antenna and now can get **some** local TV and it's just enough :)

It's been very rainy here in Traverse City lately. Lake Michigan is at a high water level which makes my basement into a bit of a swamp. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> It's a cycle and it will go back down I'm sure. Lets hope for a hot and dry summer up here!

This needs to be said again.

Should I buy a NEW car or an old truck? <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Old trucks (and cars) are simple, analog, easy to work on and troubleshoot. New cars are full of crap like "Body Control Modules" and "Anti-lock brake controllers" Shit that cost a ton of money to do something that is mostly un-needed. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> I'm toying with the idea of getting a Classic daily-driver from the 60's or 70's. For the most part, I don't drive a lot. If I buy an old truck, in 10 years, I will still have an "old truck". Might even be worth more than I pay for it or not, but it won't be 10's of thousands of dollars less because it's a new-fangled car that looses money by the second.

Recorded in Columbus Ohio after an Adventure in Flying in the winter. I spent 24+ hours at Detroit airport due to weather. It was an experiment in flying to the office in Columbus instead of driving. Result: Driving 6.5 hours. Flying 28 hours. PLUS if the weather sucks while driving I can always pull over. OR not go. Flying, you are kind of stuck. The lesson, DRIVE. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Posting this just before heading to the airport to head home. Hopefully, I will get home more or less on time.

Getting ready to buy a new (to me) truck of some sort. No hurry, but soon.

I had a bit of nostalgia today driving around town in Traverse City and the Cherryland Mall (now called Cherryland Center and nearly empty). It's amazing the things you remember about things so long ago. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Also, I talk about some nostalgia about podcasting. When it was a hobby and a form of therapy for a lot of people. I'm sure it still is for some, but sometimes I see the all the business end of it.

Fall is in the air around Traverse City these days, but the trees are not turning color just yet. I got a new toy in the studio. A Denon DN-300R digital recorder deck. Now I can record WITHOUT the computer in the studio.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> Also, I updated our renovation projects and other things going on in Traverse City.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> <br /><br /> <br /><br />

I thought I lost my portable recorder, Then found it and thought I broke it and now it works. Go figure :)<br /><br /> <br /><br /> Just a quick update from Northern Michigan.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> <br /><br /> <br /><br />

I update my tobacco free status (3+ Weeks) and talk about Facebook, YouTube and whatnot. I've been addicted Tobacco in various forms for the last (wow! long time) years... I am finally going tobacco-free totally starting in a few days. Wish me luck!

Had my own personal tech bubble burst. Ended up with a new iPhone 8+, A new Router (the old one was 11 years old!) and just now found out my compressor/Limiter/Gate is 1/2 dead. Oh well.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> I moved the studio back down to the Office in the basement and recorded this using the PR40 mic instead of the headset I've been using for a while. Let me know what you think of the sound.<br /><br /> <br /><br />

Well, I made it! 300 episodes. I was a bit under the weather so I didn't do the episode on New Years. I was sleeping trying to get rid of a cold or blowing and shoveling snow.<br /><br /> <br /><br /> I'm not going to write a lot of show notes for this one. It's still snowing. This is getting OLD already. Plus I have a cold. Grumpy short episode.

Almost sounds like I'm phoning it in. This short episode is from my Airpods as the Microphone on my Mac. Don't think I will use them for producing podcasts, but they are great at listening to podcasts.

The weather is BRUTAL here... Was 5 degrees and windy on Christmas and yesterday. It's up to a whopping 11 degrees (F) and sunny today. Heat wave.

From a hotel room in Dublin Ohio, where I'm down here showing my face at the Blubrry offices, I just ramble a bit about this and that. Nothing to write home about but it was fun to setup the mobile gear in the hotel room anyway. :)

Just read about a 25 year old that was killed in his driveway because someone went off the road an hit him. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Slow down people! <br /><br /> <br /><br /> Winter is the time to relax, take it slow, read a book and above all, don't get in a hurry on the roads. You, and those around you, will live to tell about it. <br /><br /> <br /><br /> We had some snow in the area and I played my traditional snow song for the first real snow in Traverse City this season.

As I recorded this at 10:20pm, it is 55-ish degrees outside. Very warm for this time of year this far north. I was able to do my leaf blowing yesterday and I should have been blowing snow.
