Instead of being fearful of prophesy passages in the Bible, it’s important to remember that behind all of the imagery is God who knows the future, rules the world, and is coming back to rule all things forever.

In Daniel’s time, just like in today’s time, the government was corrupt and tried to punish him for serving Jesus. But, Daniel stood firm and worshiped the true King and, in his infinite might and power, God showed up once again in Daniel’s life to rescue him from a den of lions.

In Daniel 5, the same family continues to do the same evil and God shows up in a powerful way while Daniel once again interprets a prophecy that God will ultimately get the last word.

In Daniel 4, Nebuchadnezzar had a dream that foreshadowed his seven-year period of being humbled by the true King, Jesus. Despite the warning, he continued his prideful reign until the dream came true and he was forced to acknowledge the God over all kingdoms.

When faced with a decision whether to worship the true God or a counterfeit God, Daniel’s friends stood firm in worship of the true God. Even when it looked like the counterfeit God would win, the real God showed up in the middle of their trial and protected them. God can do the same for those today who put their trust and faith in Him despite the most desperate of circumstances.
