S1 Ep 240Paul Ollinger - Navigating transition, The Rise Of Facebook, And Modern Comedy
EPaul was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and had a traditional educational experience—went to college, got an Ivy League MBA, then joined the work force with $100k worth of school debt. However, after achieving success in the corporate world (he was one of the first 250 employees of Facebook as VP, West Coast Sales), he finally decided it was time to give in to his true passion. So, he left the high paying tech field behind and dove into the uncharted waters of… stand up comedy. Today, Paul’s comedy career takes him to clubs and corporate events all over North America, where he has opened for top comics like Dave Attell, Norm Macdonald, and Bill Burr. He just recently headlined Carolines on Broadway and in December, Paul headlined the West Side Comedy Club in New York City and is an official selection of the most recent Laughing Skull, Asheville, Cleveland, and North Carolina Comedy Festivals. When he isn’t touring comedy clubs, he is the host of his recently launched podcast, Crazy Money, in which he interviews entrepreneurs, celebrities, authors, and artists with a humorous perspective on money, wealth and careers. The show focuses on how we think about and live with money, as a society and as individuals. S1 Ep 222Marc-Henri Sandoz Paradella - Toxic Spirituality, And Life After The Church.
Marc-Henri Sandoz Paradella was born in 1963, he studied Protestant theology at the University of Geneva to become a pastor. He practiced that profession as a life mission for fifteen years in an evangelical church. Deep questioning led him to resign: he realized the sectarianism and mind blocks that were at the core of his faith, and the sufferings hiding behind them.He faced little by little his own shadows, and began a long-term therapeutic and integrative work. He passed through a period of ten years of doubts, uncertainties, personal upheavals, professional reconversion, divorce. It was a difficult and dark period, but very rich and of great value to him. Then, he discovered meditation and yoga thanks to Evelise, the exceptional woman who is now his wife. He got training in Mindfulness meditation at the University of Geneva, then in Yoga Nidra, then in other meditation techniques. He taught meditation and Yoga Nidra for several years in Geneva, while working full time as a counsellor. After the amputation of his whole left leg due to a bone cancer, in May 2018, he found himself with the urge to find a new balance for his life. The first thing to do, literally, was to learn to walk and live with one leg. Secondly, to try and make sense of what was happening to him. In that process he discovered the need to grow into a deeper and renewed spirituality, one that would fully take into account what was happening to him, without sugar-coating or falling into magical thinking. A spirituality that would truly help him to face reality. Definitely a "no bullshit" spirituality. It is still a work in progress. S1 Ep 217Life Story & Lessons From Anonymous Client
EWhat happens when abused boys become men? How are boys shaped into men who have been abused and how does this shape them as leaders, husbands, and fathers? How do men work through trauma, abuse, abandonment, and sexual abuse? In this unique, first of it's kind episode, I interview a client who has faced and been through many of these things. Much of it has been talked about and worked through in a therapeutic or coaching setting, but some still needs to be addressed. In this setting, the anonymous client and I talk about his journey. He shares stories from his childhood and connects the dots to how his past shaped his future. We talk about how he has worked through these challenging experiences, how he has repeated relationships in his family, and how he as a father is now raising his son.
