For those who haven't heard, Dr. Kevin Vost passed away in early April of 2023. He was an amazing men who was passionate about fitness, health, and nutrition. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and the Catholic Church. It is for this reason we are re-publishing this episode with him as a smallest form of gratitude we can offer. Do any of you go to a men's group? Does your parish even have a men's group? Or maybe you do go but they just flick on a video made by somebody else and that's it? The video might pump you up for 1/2 a day and then it fades and nothing in your life changes. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not faulting the creators of these men's groups because there are some amazing ones out there. However, for the majority of men, this simply does not work. Think about it. If you are the lucky few who actually have a men's group, is it well attended? Think of all the men in your parish...what percentage are going? 10%? 20%? Men, we NEED fraternity. Have you all tried to ask for a raise? Maybe you have played sports in the past and had a big competition on the horizon? Or maybe you were actually in the military on deployment. Rites of passage are things we know of instinctively. Graduation, weddings, obtaining a driver's license, or your first job are easy things to think of. But, when does a boy become a man? No, getting some peach fuzz when you are in junior high doesn't make you a man. In Western society, too many boys don't have the male figure to show them what it means to be a man. Sadly, these same boys are reverting to taking their ill-formed consciences into the real world, often resulting in violence and prison time. A rite of passage is more than just a ceremony, it's a change in a male's soul. Fasting is one of the most underrated and underappreciated weapons in our arsenal. Unfortunately, too many of us do not use this tool enough to fight off Satan and his demons.
