Brigette talks all about her journey of getting a job that felt God sent to feeling emotionally and mentally drained by the job after a few months of working there. We dive into how she worked through all the worry, doubt and fear that came up for her and how she ultimately stepped out in faith and quit her job to pursue her own online business. She learned a number of skills that would later serve her. The financial blessing of the job really clouded her thoughts about whether she “should” quit. How it feels to face that big decision to leave a job that you felt was given by God in the first place. Even through a job that was emotionally and mentally challenging, she kept holding on because it was a job with impact. IT’s hard to leave something when you feel like it’s an important role. God may ask you to pivot from a really meaningful role and that can be challenging because the world will impress upon you that if you’ve got a job that’s good and impactful, then you should have honor in that alone. As a Christian entrepreneur, I know that you want to or are already running a business based on where God has called you. But what if there’s more for your business that you haven’t even considered because there's actually a whole part of you that you've been ignoring all together? I'm talking about your talents and gifts God has given you. The thing you're just really good at. But over time, what started as being modest or humble morphed into not even acknowledging that you were actually good at it at all. This can even feed into imposter syndrome because you've trained yourself to mentally dismiss that you are actually gifted or talented in specific areas. Many Christian women feel shame for speaking up about their abilities and really owning those skills. I know I was like that, and if this sounds like you, then I want to help you reframe how you're thinking about these gifts. What if what feels like humility or modesty is actually preventing you from seeing what God is calling you to do and how God has actually uniquely equipped you? In this episode, we’re going to look at biblical examples where God has given a specific talent or gift and it’s been used to do amazing things for His glory. I hope this inspires you to rethink the role of your own gifts and talents and how important they are for your calling. These could be things that you're actually supposed to be really highlighting in your business. You don’t have to dim your light so that others can shine. Let others see the gifts God has given you. Today, I’m bringing you this bonus episode asking the question of whether your business should be faith-based or not. I’ve heard many women ask this question. As I was studying about the Easter story, the reaction of the disciples during the persecution of Jesus really spoke to me about this particular topic, and I felt like I needed to share it with you today. As we wrap up 2020, there’s a tendency to think that 2021 is going to be magically better than 2020 or if we follow what the world is saying, then we’ll think that nothing good came of 2020. But we know that God can do good and amazing things no matter what the circumstances look like. As we come to the end of the year, it’s a habit to look forward to the next year and start planning and dreaming all of the things that we can do. While this is good and fun, I want to encourage you to really get your mind in the right place before you start all the planning for next year. Make sure you’re co-creating these goals with God and see where He really wants you to go. Sometimes God will ask you to switch gears in life to be someone you've never been before. Always a career woman and now being called to be home with the kids. Always a work-a-holic and now striving for balance. Well meaning people around you might doubt the change. You have the choice to either get up and walk to let your old ways define who you are even though God is calling you to change your life by doing something you've never been able to do before. Are you feeling that God is calling you to do something big and scary in your life, but you’re resisting it big time? It feels like you’re not the right person for the job or that it’s a crazy idea or that you can’t possibly have the skills needed. In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about how when God calls you to do something, you can take comfort in knowing that He’s with you through it all. He’s prepared you for this specific mission, and he called you out of all people for a reason. To help with impostor syndrome, we’re going to take a look at the story of Moses and the burning bush in a new light. From this story, we can see how to take comfort even when we’re doubting our abilities to do what we know we’re being called to do. The story for this episode comes from Exodus 3:1 - 4:17 NLT. Episode Highlights: Moses denies God’s call on his life God assures Moses over and over When God chooses someone, He really means that person is the one. There’s not a replacement person for the job. He already knows the outcome. You just have to act. Fear is probably the biggest emotion getting in the way of you taking action toward your dream of being an entrepreneur. You feel like you desperately want this life you envision for yourself, one where you’ve got more time and are home with your kids, yet you aren’t taking the actions you know you need to to make it happen. That’s fear. And If you aren’t equipped to recognize it and overcome it, then it can keep you stuck. Always wishing and never actually doing. In this episode, I’m going to share how fear came into play as I was leaving my job to be an entrepreneur and tips for how you can identify and overcome your own fears to get unstuck. Are you a mom feeling this urge to completely pivot your whole career plan to be a work at home mom? It feels like a crazy idea but at the same time, you desperately want to do it. But how? God is putting that on your heart and calling you to pivot. And He doesn’t always ask us to pivot in a logical way that has a clear path. In fact, most of the time it isn’t like that at all.
